  1. This will be the first world championships (women) without a Dutch medal since 2014, and only the second since 2005
  2. Main riders back together after a strong group of five has been caught, but now Marlen Reusser is on the attack with 11k to go. Big question is how she'll go up Mt Pleasant, but otherwise she can be incredibly hard to catch.
  3. Can someone tell the TV directors we don't need to see a full minute of coastline pictures every 2 kilometers in the deciding stages of a world championships race? We've seen the same thing roughly 75 times now, it's been enough. And today it's fantastic weather for a race like this, but during the men's race tomorrow it will be all dry. Life is unfair
  4. 'A cold', as in the common thing that happens to everyone at some point (like runny nose and such), or hypothermia? Which one could perfectly imagine as well there... Damn, sounds like she got away lucky...any word on what happened? Got lost, a fall, something?
  5. And of course the point in the video was to show what kind of bullshit it is to first attack region X of another country, then drive out everyone except for your own 'group', then ask them if they want region X to become part of your country. It's not even Russia to begin with, but Russia is (basically) holding a referendum there. It is beyond absurd in a situation that, thanks to Russia, is already beyond absurd to begin with.
  6. Since Russia organizes a referendum outside of Russia, we can organize a referendum inside of Russia
  7. I would assume multi-juries are supposed to only publish their song once the whole 'team' is complete, to give everyone in the team a fair chance to choose, but I'm not sure..
  8. Because Putin will surely open the gas lines specifically to Oberstdorf or so if some skiers can compete
  9. Now IBU as well please, at least for the Belarussians. Go Alimbekava
  10. Good moment to point people's attention to the old, original Khmer empire (the one that brought forth stuff like Angkor Wat). Super interesting, Fall of Civilizations podcast has a very nice episode about it and I'm sure others do as well.
  11. To be fair, Switzerland with a male dream team and a very strong female team is in no way an unexpected winner, and Italy with silver can hardly be called surprising as well
  12. I love the beginning of tomorrow's mixed relay start list https://www.tissottiming.com/File/0003140113030101FFFFFFFFFFFFFF01
  13. Russia gained a lot of ground quickly in the beginning, but it slowly but surely came grinding to a halt as well. Pretty soon they were already pushed back in certain areas (like Hostomel airport, which they captured quickly, but no reinforcements ever came and then they were kind of destroyed), while still having some small wins in others. Now the Russians are 'advancing backwards', so to speak, with Ukraine being helped a ton by a lot of other countries and especially having a lot of big successes in the past 2-3 weeks. Russian army also seems to be extremely demoralized. Their general war doctrine of having high-ranking officers right there at the battlefield (which makes them relatively easy to be killed) and of regular soldiers simply having no single initiative whatsoever without a superior to tell them exactly what to do is also getting them in big trouble.
  14. If I was a Russian, I'd hope so, because what they have shown so far in the past 7 months is absolutely pathetic. Like they had hundreds of army bases full of old crap they needed to get destroyed, so they thought it'd be cool to let Ukraine and it's friends do that. This was will make even game designers think again. Like Russians invading the US or Europe (Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2/3), lol. They can't even properly invade one neighbour country without being forced back with their tails behind their legs.
  15. I'll give Eurosport Player a listen later to check this, but I can imagine this time he wouldn't have been that emotional given that anything less than a win with at least 45+ seconds of advantage would have been underwhelming
  16. That was an utterly insane, if not also entirely expected performance She is 15 levels too good for the women's junior field, just check the insane gap she managed to get in a three (!) stage race in the Netherlands very recently, with most of the top juniors present: https://www.procyclingstats.com/race/watersly-ladies-challenge/2022/gc It's the female version of what Remco Evenepoel did in his junior days, basically. Depending on whether or not he'd want a day alone, he would just attack 5km into a 120km race and get a 10 minute lead. Also kind of ridiculous that the distances are so short, at least make the women's junior race 20k or so (and the men's senior race really should not be anywhere near sub-40km, but more like 50-55km).
  17. I consider myself fairly well trained in avoiding spoilers by now, so a workaround will definitely be possible (like on YouTube never ever looking at the suggestions but going straight to the search bar, on news websites never opening the sports sections, in videos of US sports blocking that never-ending 'news bar' at the bottom and here going straight to the forum threads )
  18. Oh and to also give some positive feedback: +1 for the awesome qualifying trackers on the right They actually do feel like they're perfectly integrated into the site in terms of size and 'presence'. Not dominating, but perfectly placed.
  19. The 'Latest Articles from Totallympics News' part is....very present, so to say. I was always happy Totallympics is usually a fairly easy place to avoid spoilers (apart from the few disappointing times during things like Olympics where people feel the need to mention the results of a country in sport X in the thread of sport Y), but almost literally the entire screen is now filled with the news part instead of the forum part. There is of course the /forums link you posted, so with the news item being this large, I'll definitely change my bookmakers to that so the whole screen will be filled with forum threads again, but since you asked for feedback.... Not trying to be negative by the way: I do think this news part has a place and is an excellent addition to Totallympics as a whole, I'm just not sure this specific place is the right one in terms of keeping the main feel of Totallympics being a forum.
  20. I have become quite accustomed to change, but only if it doesn't mean extra work (like scrolling a full screen) to see the exact same information
  21. Chinese Taipei had something in the works last season, but that kind of got stranded I'm afraid. I'm assuming Argentina focuses entirely on cross-country skiing and the whole stuff going on there, ain't nobody got time for biathlon there Also interesting to see Felix Bitterling represent Germany, and Netherlands being there but without a name
  22. Yep. Guy from Groningen, who is the husband of the Australian ambassador in and - like Bauke Mollema, but at a lower level - got his love for competitive cycling by racing to school as a kid He has had some articles in Dutch newspapers these days
  23. Insane ending at the Talence Decastar heptathlon Dutch Emma Oosterwegel has 9 points to defend on Austrian Ivona Dadic in the 800m. Dadic attacks in the last lap and gets a gap of 1-2 seconds, which is enough. Oosterwegel pulls absolutely everything out of it though, and closes the gap back to a little under 0,7 seconds.....the result? I do not think I have seen that in the recent past
  24. This was a fun race in the end
