  1. In other words, it doesn't look so.....Nice. Sorry. It's a shame though, any big winter sports event in the Alps would be great, assuming it's a somewhat normal winter and not half green
  2. Huh? Pogacar and Gaudu were basically the only ones of the top riders who did change bikes. There is a ton to unpack about Vingegaard's performance yesterday, but not changing the bike is basically the only normal thing of the entire ride
  3. It wasn't, at all. Pogacar completely humiliated everyone, except for Vingegaard, who had an outright inhuman performance. Van Aert is one of the best time trial riders in the world and is in good shape on the climbs as well, yet he ends up well over a minute behind Pogacar. Pogacar's main mistake seems to have been the bike change, but other than that, he had an excellent ride. There was just someone else who threw down a ride we will still remember - one way or another - in 25 years from now. Van Aert, Bilbao, Yates averaged high 37 km/h today, Pogacar broke 39....then comes Vingegaard with well over 41 km/h on a stage like this. Arguably a more incredible ride than Landis in 2006.
  4. At least Pogacar is someone who attacks if necessary, so today might actually have increased the chance to see something interesting in the last days.
  5. I think the sarcasm was obvious And understandable.
  6. Yeah, I didn't exactly mean it positive Tom Dumoulin on Dutch TV for the analysis, and his entire face and voice shows that he really wants to say something, but wisely chooses not to, other than "this is probably the most insane time trial ride in history"
  7. This is probably the most insane ride since the 100km+ Floyd Landis solo in...2006? Or possibly some of those insane attacks by Ricco. Or Ullrich at Cap Decouverte 2003, Armstrong, Riis, Indurain.
  8. Judging by his results, I doubt he'll ever really be visible internationally, but the name is very interesting! Son of? If so, that would explain the Kazakhstan move as well, I believe the big Klevchenya has been Kazakhstan's coach at least for a while.
  9. The big button 'Qualification standings' right on the front page. https://www.diamondleague.com/wanda-diamond-league/qualification-and-schedule/
  10. Spectators, motorbikes, things just get worse every year it seems.
  11. "We let him do a full mountain stage with a suspected concussion, but no worries, our protocols work fine because we are taking him out of the race now."
  12. Honestly it's not like I don't find it interesting to watch, but the inherent unfairness in most para-sports (since often people with different disabilities compete in the same category to avoid having 1 million categories with 2 competitors) has sort of turned me off for a while now, together with the often relatively low level of competitiveness. Look at para-alpine skiing or something for example, so often one sees differences of 5+ seconds in between the medals.....I mean, it's great what they do, but I do want to feel some sort of competitive tension when watching sports Sure some disciplines have it, but in general the fields are just very, very limited. Which is good in a humane sense, since having equal numbers of top-level participants in para-sports would mean a lot more people having disabilities and that's not good And about Petrillo: the only thing I can say is that it's....interesting (for lack of a better word) to see the comments on social media. Like far-right weirdo Andy Ngo, who sees things like Petrillo's story and - as one can sense from Ngo's tweets - immediately runs to Twitter absolutely fuming, ramming down on his keyboard as angrily as possible to tweet out how awful it all is (personally I'm not sure I agree with the likes of Petrillo competing here, but if she's following the rules, there is zero reason to attack her personally and call her all kinds of disgusting and humiliating stuff like people on a certain side on social media so often like to do)
  13. Hello controversy (for the bronze) On the bright side of the controversy: a few more people now know about the existence of para-athletics.
  14. Just to clarify: sarcasm, correct?
  15. That goddamn motorbike that stopped Pogacar's attack (not to mention the idiot 'fans' with their toxic smoke bombs on the climb, luckily fewer than yesterday....) When do they learn, one may ask. At least the main part of the stage was entertaining, more or less. Tense downhill at the end, nice last 4km of the big climb
  16. Massive fall in the peloton, race neutralized because there are not enough ambulances available at the moment. Pedrero and Meintjes seem to be the main victims (no 'worries', but definitely injuries).
  17. No idea exactly what the 'duet technical preliminary' is in light of the entire competition, but surely this doesn't mean the Netherlands has an outside (even if only 0,5%) shot at a medal in artistic swimming of all things, does it?
  18. Yeah, it was exactly as boring as everyone expected in terms of GC fight, luckily at least someone in the breakaway got the win Too bad it was a pretty big name who won, it would have been a nice punch in the face of Gouvenou if the winner was a relatively unknown rider. Today is a lot more promising indeed, there is less opportunity to wait until the last 400 meters so that's already good
  19. It was another fun hilly stage yesterday Too bad today we get a junior stage, on the national holiday no less (although that doesn't have the effect on French riders it used to have anymore anyway)....Thierry Gouvenou, be very, very ashamed of yourself We used to have stages like these in the Vuelta for years on end, until they finally realized these stages usually suck balls (which the fans had seen quickly, but somehow the organizers used blindfolds for years).
  20. And this one would most likely go into the history books a lot nicer than Ugrumov's wins
  21. Not exactly a 'calm' run-up to the championships for Zambia. First the thing about captain Barbra Banda, who last year 'failed' a gender test (in so far one can 'fail' that, since it's not a performance), but will be allowed to play anyone since that decision is up to the national federations for whatever reason, and significantly worse: now the national team coach Bruce Mwape has been accused of rather serious behaviour. According to an anonymous player in the team: "If you wanted to keep your play in the selection, you had to have sex with the coach if he wished so." So yeah. Stuff is going on there.
  22. Judging by the things certain countries seem to do with their money, half the EU doesn't seem to want to be in the EU, so there should be some space within a few years anyway
  23. Talking about EU membership* Which is fine, no problem with talking about it. Not like it's going to happen anyway.
  24. That is pretty damn cool
  25. Unbelievable. Well, not really, because it's not urban and fast-paced enough, but come on. Luckily it's at least not actually called 'Marathon swimming' as far as I see in the official things, since one can't have a 10k as maximum and call it that obviously.
