  1. How did he talk? And to be fair: the main thing for him should be to focus on his own medal chances. Great if that improves something for the team, but if I were him, I wouldn't put focus on team events if that costs anything individually for his best events...
  2. You think it'd be fun to read the comments, until you see that an U12 (!) match makes a whole bunch of American nationalists get super serious about their country being the 'oldest and greatest in the world' and anyone who says that might not be entirely true is deemed a total idiot
  3. Or in the winter: ski jumping (and therefore Nordic combined) and the sliding sports. God I love them, but my lord are they expensive to have a massive venue for a super niche event 99% of the world knows absolutely nothing about
  4. I see field hockey as a serious, tense and entertaining sport and ice hockey as a fun entertaining bit of yuesay show. Definitely entertaining, but with much more the feel of a show Which isn't necessarily bad of course, just different.
  5. Is that true though? Pro boxing, the big heavyweight fights and such, has quite a following for example in the Netherlands (not huge, but a good amount of people watch the heavyweight title fight if it's being shown), whereas basically nobody would watch the non-professional form of boxing. Maybe for a few minutes if there's a match with a Dutch fighter, but that's about it. Feels the same as kickboxing or something: I very much enjoy the big pro kickboxing fights, but for example the lame versions at the recent European Games....I noped out of that after a few fights in which absolutely nothing happened.
  6. You're definitely my favourite Slovak ever buddy, but you misspelled 'ice' and wrote it as 'field' again!
  7. 5 teams per gender....and that's all then? So I would assume it would feature as a sort of demonstration sport and not an official medal event? Seems rather too tiny for that with a field of a grand total of five
  8. So she lost a spot, since she was the #2 performer all-time before this final
  9. 29th fastest time in history for Li....and the fastest non-Ledecky time in history
  10. Swimming TV directors really need to start learning how to show a distance race.... There is a massive race for 3rd going on, but most of the time we see a lone leader where nothing happens. They should learn from F1 or plenty of other sports, where in case of a dominant leader, the places where fights are going on are shown.
  11. Regan Smith coming across as a bit of a sore loser, seemingly refusing to acknowledge the existence of McKeown after the final. Hopefully that's only how it seems and in reality it was a little different.
  12. Hungary wins it. Nice for them and congratulations to Hungary, but from a different perspective, too bad: would have been cool to see Greece take it's first ever major title
  13. What a final 10-10 and shootoffs after a whole bunch of fuckups on both sides in the last two minutes
  14. Dopers don't always do extraordinary things though
  15. Would be good, but also I wouldn't be surprised if he started doping in the past years, in which he has been nearly entirely invisible. Wouldn't be the first former top-level performer who gets desperate when it doesn't work anymore.
  16. Although if Vader would have ended up being the one qualifying the Netherlands though the rankings, it really should be him to go (qualifying a spot and then someone else taking it away while barely competing....no thanks). But yeah, that's not gonna happen, both because of Vader choosing road and of course his serious injury.
  17. Couldn't Sagan have decided to focus on MTB earlier to increase the ranking chance? I'm sure there is some reason why it wasn't possible, I presume his road team didn't allow him or something?
  18. In terms of big names, sure, but in the end....every super suit WR that's being broken is a good thing in my opinion
  19. Austria is the interesting outlier there. The others are typical sportswashing countries, but....Austria?
  20. This took some months after the main problems started....Won the Tour de l'Avenir in 2014, yet only Astana wanted him (because the rest didn't trust him and obviously Astana is a team that doesn't care about such minor issues). When arriving in Europe, he was placed at the home of Spanish former rider Vicente Belda...who had been a known doper and as a team manager was involved in the Operacion Puerto case, plus who is seen as a big figure in a Spanish criminal investigation (with ties to medicine and doping distribution, surprisingly), with doctor Marco Maynar Mariño named as the main guy. Mariño, who Miguel Angel Lopez was was connected with several months ago (leading to Lopez even being in trouble with Spanish police for a bit). In this time, Lopez used to train with Vicente's son David Belda. Well, until David got caught with EPO, that is. Luckily for him he managed to evade problems by riding for small and not so well controlled Team Medellin back home in Colomba before all this But other than all that, super surprising!
  21. Imagine how insanely shitty the reputation of your country is, when you offer someone 700 million EUR to play for a year (yes, they would pay PSG 300 million and Mbappé 700 million) in your shitty competition which nobody watches, and still this person refuses...not just 'refuses', but refuses to even talk to you about it 22 euro per second, for a full year. Go to sleep, sleep a regular night and you're rougly 600k euro richer. But still the prospect of playing in such an awful country like Saudi Arabia makes you refuse it Of course he knows he wouldn't be required to play just football, just like Cristiano Ronaldo nowadays is headlining the propaganda machine, but unlike Cristiano Ronaldo, surprisingly Mbappé didn't sell his soul
  22. NOS switched away to some commercial for tonight's program with 25 meters to go
  23. Time for 3x100m of waiting until we start to see how the race is actually unfolding!
  24. Good thing Heilman didn't win. Wouldn't want to see the German tabloids headlining 'Sieg Heilman!'
  25. There's a medal ceremony now, I hope? NOS has switched to interviews and continueing it's Popovici campaign instead of showing sports
