  1. Well yeah, apparently for some nations it is, whereas in other nations it's simply seen as entirely separate events
  2. I think she's back (7.5km seriously tough Lysebotn uphill rollerskiing race) http://live.eqtiming.com/43903#result:162970-507070-0-1-1-
  3. If Germany is a Central European country, so is Italy. Or Belarus. Or anything west from Serbia and east from the Netherlands/Belgium/France/Spain
  4. In that case I think it just differs per nation. Apparently there are nations where this 'event' is actually treated as a multi-sports event, whereas other nations (like the Netherlands in this case) treat them as stand-alone championships that don't get more attention than usual.
  5. Yeah, choosing some mobster crime lord as president or something, but like that'll ever happen, haha!
  6. Impressive number of around 17 people on the grandstands so far
  7. For 'us' that doesn't matter: rowing isn't on TV now (maybe some finals will get attention in the evening sports news for a few minutes), only on Eurosport, which would be showing it anyway
  8. Dude, Mo Farah has quit the track, can't we just pretend he never happened instead of keep bringing him up?
  9. Does anyone know where to find start lists? The website of these so-called 'Glasgow/Berlin European Championships' have nothing, half an hour before the start of the first heats. Edit: Here we go http://www.worldrowing.com/events/2018-european-rowing-championships/
  10. Have you heard anything at all in your media calling it 'The European Championships'? I mean, here in Dutch media there has been a slight mention of these events being put together, but apart from that mention stuff is just called 'the European athletics/swimming/rowing/gymnastics championships', being several stand-alone events.
  11. Rowing is less than an hour away from the start and there are not even start lists. This whole thing is an even bigger joke than the European Games....I mean, look at Totallympics: the fact this 'event' is not even talked about in it's own thread or in 'Athletics at the European Championships Thread' threads says enough about 'the European Championships' really not being 'a thing'.
  12. Current year rankings don't always say everything though. For example if someone is ranked 10th but has shown in previous year to have a way higher potential, it's not very strange to put this person above people ranked 5th, 6th etc who have never shown they can be even faster.
  13. Having it out of one Olympics so that maybe the mess can finally get cleaned up is not destroying history. I voted no, because boxing needs to be very severely cleaned up and that's simply not going to happen when it stays in the Olympics, but I do want it to come back after major cleaning operations.
  14. Stegodon is not a mammoth, more like it's older brother
  15. https://www.iaaf.org/athletes/bulgaria/ivet-lalova-collio-183664 Bookmakers have her as 4th favourite in the 100m (but way behind the clearly leading trio of Asher-Smith, Schippers and Kambundji). I guess a medal could be possible if she somehow finds a huge step-up in form, but judging by her results so far, she'd need someone else to fail basically

  17. Seriously, how does Coe even dare saying this right now?! Don't get me wrong, last year's U18 world champs in Nairobi were arguably the very best athletics event I have seen in my entire life in terms of atmosphere and I would want to see that every two years if possible, but if there is one moment when one should be rather careful with statements like this, it's when the organization of the current event is going wrong in nearly every possible way. It would sound like perfect for Coe to get the World Champs to Asaba right now....hopefully it will go to Nairobi because they have shown to be capable of hosting something like that.
  18. Yes, it's a dream. When you click on 'Results', nothing happens, like it's not even a link
  19. It would be more interesting to actually show the names
  20. What's wrong with Calgary? The place where our Yvonne van Gennip beat all those doped up East Germans and Soviets on nothing but a good sandwich with peanut butter
  21. South Korea has a new heat record. It was 40.0 degrees Celsius from 1942, today it was 40.7 degrees. https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/south-korea-sets-all-time-record-high-temperature-amid-deadly-heat-wave/70005657

  23. I think it very much depends on where you live and what the average human there is used to Last week when it was 37-38 here (nearly the all-time record) going outside of the house felt like walking against a wall of boiling air The other side counts too: I'm perfectly fine when it's -10 degrees - sure, cold, but no problems or something - whereas I remember my first (Brazilian) girlfriend's first contact with temperatures of around 5 degrees made her nearly unable to breathe
  24. Biggest like button I've seen so far here
