  1. may I say I'm seeing some depressing results? (not talking of the Italian performance, of course) and this one is the worst of them all...
  2. p.p.s. no comment on Italian misery... and we once were a powerhouse in this sport...
  3. sure...I've never seen a race in Winterberg not affected by weather conditions... when it's cold, there are issues with wind and ice conditions...when it's warm, no need to say that's always a lottery...and when it's snowy, not only it's a mess, it's also a very dangerous track... tbh, they should get rid of that track...actually, they should have done it a long, long time ago... p.s. and yeeesssss!!!!! it's not gonna be 7 out of 7 for Germany... I guess some heads are gonna swirl tonight in the German camp...
  4. I still think that Sprint races are absolutely senseless... however, I guess the Germans are happy to win 7 (instead of only 4) world titles this weekend, so we have to take notice also of these ones...
  5. no, I don't have any other source than the sportdata system (I normally check only the draw sheets with progressive updates once every while)... maybe you can try on the official site of the event (the link is in the notes of the live streaming you posted this morning...just open the full page on YT), but I don't think they have another scoring system...probably there's a link to sportdata also there...
  6. wow! in today's 4 Gold Medal matches, we're going to have 3 Italians represented (and the 4th one isn't there just because of a stupid mistake in the semifinals)... I think it's the first time ever that Italy have so many guys in the finals of a single session at a Grand Prix event...
  7. new system, but good same old results in women's Kata... women's individual Kata Gold Medal Match: Sandra Sanchez Jaime vs Kiyou Shimizu Bronze Medal Match #1: Grace Lau Mo Sheung vs Viviana Bottaro Bronze Medal Match #2: Sakura Kokumai vs Hikaru Ono meanwhile, right now the first Kumite classes are underway...and in the men's -60kg we have Saud Albasher vs Majid Hassannia + Angelo Crescenzo vs Evgeny Plakhutin in the semifinals...
  8. after Christmas' break, the Judo World Tour is back with the Tel Aviv Grand Prix event and quite a few points for the Olympic Qualification Ranking up for grabs... Day #1 saw the Host Nation on top of the medal table with 2 Gold (Shira Rishony in the -48kg and Timna Nelson-Levy in the -57kg) and 1 Silver medal (Gili Cohen in the -52kg) out of 3 women's weight classes... the only women's non-Israeli Gold medal went to the Olympic Champion Majlinda Kelmendi, back to her best shape after a difficult period due to injury... in the men's division, only 2 weight classes were contested yesterday...and the Gold medals went to Jorre Verstraeten in the -60kg and to the reigning junior world champion Manuel Lombardo, at his first senior success in the -66kg... 9. Nathan Adrian diagnosed with testicular cancer https://swimswam.com/nathan-adrian-diagnosed-with-testicular-cancer-still-eyeing-tokyo/ Luckily, it looks that the prognosis is still a good one...
  10. that's great news! Thanks a lot (today's gonna be a hard day between Luge, Biathlon, Alpine Skiing, Judo and Karate* -not to mention the "other" many things to do )... *and I forgot the Handball Worlds semis... I don't really know how I can manage all this stuff...

  12. so, according to this point of the Qualification Rules: "(...) countries can be banned from Tokyo 2020 if they record 3 doping cases during the qualification period (...)" Thailand could be completely banned from Tokyo 2020... if that's the case, they would be the Country paying the highest prize for the new rules, even more than the repeated offenders with worse reputation than them, like RUS, KAZ, BLR, ARM & AZE (who still have the chance to qualify 1 man and 1 woman each) and so on...
  13. WBSC announces hosts, dates of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Baseball/Softball Qualifiers Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualifying events to be staged in Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Italy, Japan, Netherlands and USA The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) today awarded the hosting rights and announced the dates for six qualifying events for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. The WBSC granted hosting rights of three Olympic Baseball qualifiers and three Olympic Softball qualifiers. Chinese Taipei, Italy and USA will each be home to an Olympic Baseball Qualifier, while Canada, China and the Netherlands will each stage an Olympic Softball Qualifier. “These next two years — 2019 and 2020 — will be the most important in the history of international baseball and softball,” said WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari. “With the announcement of the locations and timeline of the Olympic qualifiers, players, national federations, leagues and fans around the world can now see the exciting and challenging path it takes to get to Tokyo 2020 — where the competition for Olympic gold in baseball and softball promises to be among the biggest storylines.” The WBSC Executive Board voted on the decisions at the headquarters of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI), following bid presentations. Softball Road to Gold The first Olympic Softball qualifier this year will be held in Europe, from 23 to 28 July in Utrecht, Netherlands. This eight-team qualifying event hosted by the Dutch Baseball and Softball Federation (KNBSB) will allocate one spot to the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. The competition will feature the top six finishers of the European Championship and the top two softball teams in Africa. The Americas Olympic Softball Qualifier will be hosted by Softball Canada and staged from 25 August to 1 September in Surrey, Province of British Columbia. This qualifier will feature up to 16 National Teams, with the top two advancing to the six-team Olympic softball event at the Tokyo 2020 Games. The Asia/Oceania Qualifier is scheduled for 24 to 29 September in Shanghai, under host Chinese Softball Association. This Olympic qualifier will feature eight teams — six from the Asian Games and two from Oceania — and award the final place to Tokyo 2020. The USA Softball Women’s National Team was the first to qualify for Tokyo 2020, winning the WBSC Women’s Softball World Championship last year in Chiba, Japan. Host country Japan has been granted an automatic entry into the 2020 Olympic Baseball and Softball events.
  14. Baseball’s Road to Tokyo 2020 The first Olympic Baseball qualifier will be played from 18 to 22 September in Bologna and Parma. The top five finishers of the 2019 European Baseball Championship and the top baseball team in Africa will battle for one spot in this Africa/Europe qualifier. The WBSC flagship Premier12® 2019 (2-17 November) — the top international baseball event of the year — will now potentially allocate two spots to the Tokyo 2020 Games, with top team in the final standing from the Asia/Oceania territory (excluding Japan) and the top finisher from the Americas set to qualify for the six-team Olympic Baseball event. The WBSC Executive Board made a ruling in Rome that if no team from Asia or Oceania finishes among the top six, this Olympic slot shall be deferred to the last Qualifier. An eight-nation Americas Qualifier has been confirmed for March 2020 in Arizona, hosted by USA Baseball. The top National Team in Arizona will earn a place at the Olympic Games. Competitors: - All Americas representatives from the WBSC Premier12 2019 that did not qualify for Tokyo 2020. - The top two finisher(s) from the Pan American Games Lima 2019 (not counting nations participating in the Premier12) The final Olympic Baseball Qualifier will be hosted by the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association in Taipei City. This intercontinental competition will be a six-team world tournament for the last remaining place(s) at Tokyo 2020. Competitors: -2nd Place finisher from the Africa/Europe Qualifier in Italy -2nd and 3rd Place finishers from the Americas Qualifier in Arizona -Top two finishers from the Asian Championship 2019 (not counting nations already qualified for Tokyo 2020) -Winner of Oceania Qualifier 2019
  15. Buzzi fractured the tibial plate in his right leg (the same he injured at last season's finals)... he's going to have an operation in the next few days to stabilize the bone and check possible ligament damages... his season's over, of course... definitely not the best way to celebrate the best result of your career...
  17. Being the final event of the 2018 season (despite being held in early 2019) it shouldn't count for that, as WS always stated that the OQR would start only with the 2019 season events... but until they say something official (or they publish the first OQR standing), you never know...
  18. but despite the president's speech, if we look at the final results, we can easily see how all the 16 finalists between men and women come from only 3 Countries (USA, BRA and JPN) plus a notable exception, the lone star from the rest of the World, the French boy Aurelien Giraud (who ended up 4th in his class)... so, my friends, do not expect anything much different in 18 months time in Tokyo...
  19. World Skate President, Sabatino Aracu said: "It has been an amazing world championship and a great contest. We believe in this winning format that makes possible to involve the highest number of countries and skaters thanks to the Global Open Qualifier Round. I think it makes skateboarding even more democratic giving to anyone the chance to skate and try to win a medal: This is the true role of a federation." 20. Men's Event Recap What a pressure in the Men's final! And what a competition! With twelve 9+ scores and only 0.6 point difference between the five time World Champion Nyjah Huston and the Brazilian Kelvin Hoefler, the crowd went crazy in the Carioca Arena. Hoefler scored the first 9.0 in the Run1 and, since then, it has been a wild hunt for the best trick and the highest score. Huston didn't miss a shot and a double 00 costed the Gold Medal to Hofler. Bronze goes to Felipe Gustavo and his winning strategy over Aurelien Giraud. 21. Women's Event Recap The girls are the first to skate in the afternoon in a crowdy Carioca Arena and in front of an audience ready to witness the best tricks and to clap for the best riders: obvioulsy spotlight are on Leticia Bufoni - the 2015 Champions and 2nd place in the last two years, Bufoni is a kind of idol here in Rio - and Lacey Baker - Defending Champion with so high technical skills, she was the fearless queen of the SLS contest in both 2016 and 2017. In a crescendo, run after run, the 17 yo Japanese skater Aori Nishimura peeks out between the two "stars" and with a strategic competition reaches the lead. The head-to head is now between Leticia an Aori: in the last run a perfect gap to rail front side lip slide makes Leticia gaining a 9 score, the 9 club label and the first position in a single trick. But Aori has one more run to go: 8.5 and Gold medal with 0.1 advantage. Bronze medal goes to Lacey Baker.
