  9. he's getting old... and he's never been comfortable in the -74kg class, he was at his best in the -65kg, but he couldn't keep that weight anymore after Rio and movin'up was inevitable
  10. the federation has given Kim Polling permission to immediately switch to she's married to Andrea Regis (former player and now IJF official) let's hope that the Italian burocracy doesn't make any damage she would cover the very important -70kg class for us, which means that we could have a very competitive squad in team event, too
  11. once again, playing the not-paying spectator role oh, man...how far away the times of "Pollicino" Maenza (or even Minguzzi) are!
  12. there was a lot of hype for the men's 100m Free, but tbh, I'm a lot more impressed with Freya Colbert and Max Litchfield's IM races results if that's the standard, I think and can take care of the British 4*100m Free Relay, that was so impressive last year (they basically threw the world champs gold away with that senseless exchange in the prelims)
  13. 14. that's really unexpected! I thought fencing (and especially epee, which is the least "athletic" discipline) was one of those sports where people don't need to cheat like that I'm very surprised and sad because of this news
  15. men's -67kg Gold: Ri Won Ju* (total: 333kg) Silver: Sergio Massidda (total: 317kg) Bronze: Ishimbek Muratbek Uulu (total: 294kg) C&J World record @ 189kg Full Results https://iwf.sport/results/results-by-events/?event_id=599
  16. no, the qualification is nominative, not by NOC
  17. as I wrote before, the capital mistake is not having a plan B (C, D etc.) first, they should have had some kind of internal competition when possible (and the -73kg is the perfect case, with Reyes that should have been moved down to push himself and Zanni) and then try to qualify more weights (again, Ficco in the 102kg is the first that comes to my mind) same for the girls, especially knowing how mentally fragile they are...gotta put them under pressure and see who deserves to go on the international stage
  18. Zanni is the first out of the qualifying positions, as have 2 in the top 2 (and only 1 man per class can go to the Games) he will surely get a reallocation (as will not select this class), but frankly he doesn't deserve that luck just forgot , make as if I didn't post the previous part... for instance, I don't know why they didn't try to make Reyes go down to 73kg or let Ficco go up to 102...it would have been a much more logical choice than the sh*t they did through those 2 years however, I still asking myself why there was no plan B? (and C, D, E, F and so on)
  19. men's -73kg, Olympic Quota Places next in line: couple of big upsets Today... first, Rizki Juniansyah overtook his teammate Rahmat Abdullah in the competition, in the OQR and stole from him the Total WR, which means that he will go to Paris instead of the big favorite for the Gold Medal until a few minutes ago second, the great Shi Zhiyong missed out on Today's Gold and most likely also on the chance to get his 3rd consecutive Olympic Title then, quite a few moves have been registered in the OQR among those who were in any case already qualified finally, MirKo Zanni, bronze medallist in Tokyo, dropped out of the qualifying position thanks to the big improvement by Julio Ruben Mayora Perna
  20. men's -73kg Gold: Rizki Juniansyah (total: 365kg WR) Silver: Shi Zhiyong (total: 356kg) Bronze: Rahmat Erwin Abdullah (total: 355kg) Full Results https://iwf.sport/results/results-by-events/?event_id=599
  21. awful job by the team and the federation first, they basically didn't set any internal competition to these guys, despite having a lot of lifters that could have done it (and in case, being a useful replacement to the veterans) then, they thought the early effort was enough and didn't push too much for an improvement imho, those guys who are now just out (but maybe they still have a chance after the reallocations here and there) really don't deserve to go to Paris I'm really annoyed by what the federation has done in the last couple of years
  22. if the IOC recognized cheerleading as a sport (and we already have breakdance and many more things of that kind at the Games), why not pole dancing?
