  2. it might be that they're (at least partially) dyslexic I've read that a good part of the people whose native language is pronounced different from the written form develop (when they grew up as kids with) such kind of problems and English is the best example of that

  7. The CHL Format The 2024/25 edition of the Champions Hockey League will feature 24 participating teams. The structure allows the CHL to run a balanced, attractive and entertaining competition. How are the Regular Season fixtures drawn? To draw the fixtures for the Regular Season, teams are allocated into four pots featuring six teams each. The seeding is dependent on the teams’ achievements in their national leagues and the respective league’s standing in the CHL League Ranking. Each team is then drawn against six opponents by drawing two opponents from each of the other three pots. Teams play one team per pot at home and the other one away. The result of each game will combine to make up the overall standings (1st to 24th). Three points are awarded for a win, should a game go to overtime or a shootout, teams share the points 2-1. How do the Playoffs work? The Playoffs start with the Round of 16 and all rounds will be played in a two-game, home-and-away, aggregate-scoring series except the Final. Teams face each other based on the overall standings of the Regular Season (1st vs 16th, 2nd vs 15th etc.). How are the places allocated? The six Shareholder Leagues take 18 places, equally split to three representatives each. Teams qualify in their domestic leagues on sporting merits according to the following criteria: 1. National Champions 2. Regular Season Winners 3. Regular Season Runners-Up 4. Regular Season Third-Placed The reigning CHL Champions are automatically qualified for the next CHL season, which grants an extra qualification place to their league. The minimum of participating countries is set at 11 and therefore five Wild Card teams from Challenger Leagues are part of the CHL. The allocation of Wild Cards is subject to Board approval for each season.

  11. 7-day free demo for first time registered users (then, you have to pay) www.latvijas.tv here you can find all the Latvian TV channels (and some Russians, too) this is the TV channel that has the TV rights for Tomorrow and Monday's warm-up games and for the OQT involving Latvia (TV6): https://www.tv3.lv/tv6/programma/2024-08-25/
  12. as if there were more Nations seriously participating in things like BMX Freestyle, Lacrosse, Flag Football and so on make it an Olympic sport and we'll see how many Nations start competing (just an example: look at the Karate usual medal tables before it was named Olympic and then look at the same medal tables in the 5-year span when it had the Olympic status...I know it's different than just participating, but still) the Olympic aura changes everything for those non (fully) professional disciplines
  13. if it's going to replace some of the non-sport judged activities that inflate the Olympic schedule right now, it's a big, big YES!
  14. yes, this is a first time in the MLB, but it did happen before in the minors (a player named Dale Holman in 1986), but the distance between the start and the resume of that game was actually a lot bigger than in this case however, the world of US PRO sports* is filled with some crazy "market moves", with players traded in the middle of a game and/or playing twice in a day for 2 different teams https://www.mlb.com/news/joel-youngblood-two-hits-for-two-teams https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/panthers-grimaldi-plays-two-games-in-one-day/ *actually, it happened also in football (European version, AKA soccer) https://www.theguardian.com/football/2009/oct/07/football-questions-trivia-the-knowledge
  15. my 2 cents, just to start the thread (unfortunately, I don't have enough time to help with a proper research ) Judo, women's -72kg Final (Korean commentary, I think) Kim Mi-Young vs Yoko Tanabe Waterpolo, men's Gold Medal Match (epic!) Spain vs Italy no audio Spanish audio
  16. final update about Today's events finally easily beat in the gold medal race of the women's Team Pursuit ( won bronze) Messane Bräutigam won the women's Elimination Race last, but not least, Fabio Del Medico won the men's Keirin (so, after the Predomo era, we still have more good sprinters comin'up...hopefully )
  17. I guess we have to wait for the same source to publish the next day (today) given it's China, 24 hours delay it's still a good result
  18. 3.51.199 destroyed in the gold medal race of the men's Team Pursuit and recorded an amazing new junior world record, 2.5 seconds better than yesterday in the quali and semis (when they rode twice almost the same time) beat for bronze and will face each other in the women's TP gold medal race, after beating and respectively in the semis Lucas Menanteau won the men's Scratch
  19. destroyed the field in the men's Team Pursuit qualifications with 3.53.659, which is a new world record (previous 3.53.9, also held by ) so, there's life after what was most likely the last Olympic ride by Super-Pippo Ganna in Paris , and were second, third and fourth respectively, but all almost a lap behind then, and won the semis and will meet tomorrow for the gold medal in the women's TP qualifiers, it was to lead the field ahead of and (actually, were quite behind the top 2 teams) meanwhile, Nicole Duncan won the women's Scratch won the women's team Sprint (where won a really surprising bronze medal, even if some big Nations weren't at the start) won the men's team Sprint
  20. I agree on that but my anger was about another issue concerning the senseless words of our "beloved" troll, I'm not speaking in defence of Sinner and his crew (and actually I'm surprised that NADO Italia haven't started head down to try and getting him banned yet, as they're always in search of publicity and this case would be a special chance for them)
  21. actually, there are sharks in the Mediterranean Sea also
  22. Handball should definitely the sport where USA don't get a free quota, but IIHF has a very accomodating policy they gave them the free quotas in 1996 and most likely they will do it again in 2028 Field Hockey is OK among the women, we'll see how they are going to manage the men's team, but they found the way to let Japan (and French women) play the home Olympics recently, so I guess they won't raise the bar too much also for the US team in 2028 on the other hand, I'm really curious to see what IOC is gonna do with Cricket...a 6-team only tournament would be a farce and I don't think the USA should get a free quota, despite the very impressive T20 world cup they played a few weeks ago
  23. if it's not the strictest, surely it's in the top 3
  24. Clostebol is one of the ingredients of the Trofodermin cream, which is the most used cream for skin troubles (cuts, burns, dermatitis and more) here in Italy and you only need a simple prescription to buy it...so, even if there's written on the box that it's doping, it might easily be used by people who don't have to respect any doping rule, but they might end up contaminating people who should pay more attention to that that said, I think there's a problem with that cream, as perfectly explained by this article https://honestsport.substack.com/p/italys-clostebol-doping-crisis-across?sort=top already posted by our friend @De_Gambassi earlier in this same thread
