  1. If you are a movie fan you are probably knowing what is happening right now and that we are seeing history unfolding before our eyes. Top Gun Maverick is doing a madman boxoffice run, that is going to be talked about decades from now. Things like this just doesn't happen to anything that's not Star Wars or MCU in the US. It just had a 90 million second US weekend with a new all time record of just 29% decline from the the premier weekend (for blockbuster 100+ million openings). Current projections have it making the top 15 US all time with a conservative numbers at 520-550, with some insiders having it going to 600 with the amazing holds it currently shows. And it's not only the US, there were insane holds in almost every other country for the second weekend, i even saw single digit drops in some major markets. Absolute bonkers positive word-of-mouth is carrying this film. Top Gun: Maverick Has Won The First A+ CinemaScore Of 2022 What else could be said, beside what i have been humming for years and some people have just started realizing. Tom Cruise is and has been the Biggest Movie star in the world and probably the last true one we are going to see. This persons love, passion and dedication to the craft of cinema and the desire to bring the ultimate experience to the viewers is almost unparalleled to any other actor out there (at least for those younger than him). PS. Looks like i am extra excited about this situation, sorry about that.
  2. Well, the Federation can always bring lower level players. I'm sure they will find volunteers to play at the World Cup and expose themselves
  3. Serbia are going with a younger squad for the first weeks tournament in Canada. 5 of their biggest names, Atanasijević, Podraščanin, Lisinac, Nemanja Petrić and Marko Ivović are off of the team. This will be a good time as ever to get a win over them, as we are playing the opening match.
  4. This time it wasn't that close like last year, bit Pizzolato is becoming like a black cat for Karlos. Weightlifting isn't a sport where you could form a duel, a rivalry between two athletes that much, as there is no face-off, but these two are the best thing to try it. That Pizzolato lift at 217 was high class, he is very impressive. Bad news for him is that Karlos is only 17-18 and will accumulate more strength and experience in the coming years. Hope losing twice to him will serve as motivation.
  5. Looks like i won't be getting my beauty sleep, as it's 10:20 pm and Djokovic - Nadal have barely begun their 4 hour battle.
  6. 3 out of 3 Only disappointment is that this 100th edition should have been held in Bulgaria, so it could have been a real celebration for the sport. Only if it wasn't for the power hungry morons here, who just don't f'n go away and continue to try to destroy the sport.
  7. Iga needs a tough match from time to time, though that collapse from 5:2 and then again in the tiebreake was questionable.
  8. Hahahha The PR team were fast to delete them, but they should have informed her, when giving the fat check, that it's going to be European sports fans and not casual entertainment Superbowl crowd.
  9. Perez should go and thank Sainz privately for being behind him, otherwise he would have gotten the bow down to your leader team order. F1 has been pretty good this year, but today was very dull. Let alone it was Monaco, where very few interesting things have happened after 2010, but they delayed the race, for what it seemed an eternity and then didn't even finish the full distance, because you know... TV time something something. Lame.
  10. Great start for us already with the first mens weight and Angel Rusev defending the title from last year. He could have made more in the C&J and made an U23 record, but got the emotions going after securing the cold. Very tight fight with the Spaniard Brachi, who dropped a weight, which turned out to be a great move for them, getting an overall silver and small gold in the snatch. It did help that the two Turks bombed out and Berdelidze failed spectacularly in the C&J, though i think he would have beaten them either way.
  11. The Worlds were dropped a few years ago, but they were still showing the Euros including last year's one. But apparently not anymore..
  12. European Championships start tomorrow in Albania and yet another traditional event, that has been dropped from the Eurosport schedule. Surprisingly this time there is another BG channel that has gotten the rights and will show almost every weight live. Let's see, if the men's team can reach the big expectations after last years good results. Final entries here, with Russia, Belarus and Romania banned. https://ewf.sport/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/BW.pdf
  13. Aaaand no surprise once again. Sometimes it's so frustrating watching men's tennis and awaiting an upset, which never comes. Tsitsipas, Zverev, Alcaraz got their wins in the end. Alcaraz is indeed fulfilling his prophecy of being a top, top player, since he is now beginning to win matches, that he should have lost. I lost count how many times Ramos-Vinolas was leading, breaking, leading and lost in the end like a good soldier.
  14. https://assets.fis-ski.com/image/upload/v1652110062/fis-prod/assets/WC_Calendar_JP22-23_Men_09.05.2022.pdf World Cup starts on the 21st, why it has to be so early in Wisla and not November 12-13th, heck even the normal 19-20th? It is still before the WC starts Longest season only in timeframe, but as usual in number of rounds. This time we are getting only 4 stops, instead of 5, in the pre-4 Hills period. Iron Mountain and Rasnov are the odd ones and by the look of their place in the calendar they will be the break ones for the top competitors before the Worlds. The bigger question though is, where have the Team events gone?! I see only 3 regular ones + 1 mixed one (with one Rasnov TBC). Last year we had 5 and 3-4 years ago we had 7-8 team competitions a year..
  15. Jo-Willie Tsonga played his final match and had a very emotional ceremony afterwards. The French really did a good job in making this a proper send-off to one of their best in the new century. He has never been one, that i was fond of in his best years, but i have to admit the tribute video they showed got me a bit choked up. Almost all of that second tier of players that supplemented the Big 3 (or 4, if you'd like) for close to a decade are now retired. Nalbandian, Davydenko, Soderling in the beginning and then Tsonga, Berdych, Ferrer, Del Potro and Wawrinka in the second wave. Only one left is Stan the Man, but for how long.
  16. Yeah, showed up a fight only in the first set and then fizzled out pretty quick. Expected more.. You are very optimistic of Nadal beating Djokovic Especially with that mystery injury he has.
  17. Londero is not a bad player at all, Alcaraz is going to have some trouble with him for a first round match.
  18. Qatar have already started their preparation for Paris 2024. This week they had submitted offers for 3 of our weightlifters to switch to Qatar - Karlos Nasar, Bozhidar Andreev and Martin Toshev. Karlos was offered 3000 dollars monthly salary, Bozhidar 2000, and for Martin a bit less, since he is younger, plus a 50 dollar daily allowance for all 3. Thankfully all 3 of them rejected, but who knows what will happen in the future...
  19. I think there is still a ban for unvaccinated people to enter the country. So they probably shouldn't name it as Open.
  20. Looks like Roland Garros will be the only proper Grand Slam of the year...
  21. In shocking news, The World Cup is getting extra weekends in the US of A next season. New rounds in Aspen and Palisades Tahoe are booked for the end of February and early March, just after the World Championships.
  22. So having the women run the same distances as the men, is de facto meaning "we will lower the distances for the men". Of course they weren't stupid enough to kill the 50 km, because that would be suicide for them, even though i am sure they are secretly dreaming of dropping it to 30km, like they did at the Olympics.. But still there are only 2 such races every season, so they could turn a blind eye. So we have the next best thing, shorten the Skiathlon from 30km to 20km and the middle distance individual from 15km to 10km, because that single 20km looks very odd to me. I can't picture them having 20km distance races every week for both men and women, it's 95% always going to be 10km ones. Because we can have a 50km women's race, but we can't upgrade them from 10km to just do 15 km ones, that would be just preposterous. Let alone a 30km Skiathlon, no no, no one has TV time for that.
  23. Mostly everything about cycling is sponsors I'm surprised they haven't given the riders WWE nicknames and let them use their real ones. You should look at it like a race within a race. Like in F1, you win individual races, but they lead to an overall Championship in the end. Single stage wins are prestigious, but of course winning the whole thing in the end is the grand prize.
  24. I wonder what system they are using to compose the pools and how they choose which team plays which. Not that it matters much, as we are going to be at the bottom of the table as per usual in the last couple of years. They have once again picked a squad of young players, leaving Tsvetan Sokolov and Todor Skrimov to rest and heal in the summer and hopefully be in form for the Worlds.
  25. Today was the final of the Bulgarian Cup and a very symbolic final, which will stay for the books. After 17 years, we had the Eternal derby Levski - CSKA in a deciding match for a trophy. And even more special and long awaited was the victory for Levski Sofia, which won a trophy for the first time, since 2009 !! 13 long and painful years filled with lost Championships in the last matchday, 3 lost Cup finals (2 with penalties, 1 with goals in the last minutes). There has never been another period in the clubs 107 year history without a trophy like this one. 13 years... a whole generation grew up without seeing Levski win anything. Heck i was still in high school in 2009... And this came after maybe the 3 toughest years in the clubs history, when it lost it's owner and was on the verge on bankruptcy. But the fans, the normal people didn't let it happen and did something unheard of for our country (i would say even region). They gathered and continue to give millions and millions to pay the debts, to pay the staff and players (the ones who stayed, the ones who agreed to lower their salaries), to not let the club die. And they got the perfect ignition to rise the team with the return of legendary coach-director duo of Stanimir Stoilov and Nasko Sirakov. The duo, who made the last Levski dream team from 2005-2009, which reached the UEFA Cup 1/4 and played in the Champions League group stage. I couldn't dare dream, that we could see phase 2 of those moments. I am just going to salvage today for now. Левски е вечен! EDIT: My 5000 comment, just the perfect timing and moment. Other Pics:
