  1. Even Bulgaria could be playing better than Italy under Spaletti.. Yesterday was abysmal.
  2. The reallocation quota we got in GR 130 kg brought a semi-miracle. Kiril Milov, two-time World Silver medalist, who sustained an injury this spring, which forced him to miss both qualification tournaments in his titular 97 kg category will be given the quota at 130 kg. He had practically given up hope, a few months back, of competing at the Olympics, and having to wait 4 more years, but this situation opened the possibility for his return. Going up to 130 from 97 is in no way ideal, but any chance for competing is better, than staying home.
  3. Vingegaard doing pretty well, for someone who was doom and gloom by his team and fans in the past 2 months.
  4. The weather police strikes again. The sunshine will come back tomorrow, so they should let the public go home and not keep them waiting.
  5. Awful, awful Italy How can Spaletti make wonders with Napoli, yet completely destroy any creativity in the national team..
  6. "Under treatment" or not is subjective. Were those results obtained in the allowed rules for those times, then they are valid. I've seen, read and heard enough stories of amazing athletes, that were just sporting wonders. Just like in every generation. It's getting tiresome hearing how "athletes from the 20th century are all enhanced". There are hundreds of new stuff, that current athletes do to evolve and improve their performance, that weren't being done in the past. Also, it was just a reference, as sports history is rarely being brought up nowadays. Doesn't take away, that Karlos is amazing and a generational talent.
  7. I knew Colombia had mountains, but hot damn. 88 km continues uphill road is crazy. I bet the riders with "thrilled"
  8. In his preparation for the Olympic Games, Karlos Nasar took part at our National Championships, where he unofficially broke 3 world records again. In the snatch he did 183 kg, one more, than the current WR from Yeison Lopez. In the C&J he did 225 kg, two more, than his own WR. In total that was 408 kg, which is 12 kg higher, than the current WR from Li Dayin of 396kg. He actually tried a 230 lift in the C&J, but that was unsuccessful. Of course, this unofficial result is still long away from the lineal WR for this category from the 80s, which is 422.5 kg.
  9. You do know, that the Governing Bodies are not very keen on "fair competition" or "player health" . More teams = More matches = More money. Is there anything in sports after the 70s, that has went back and reduced the number of competitors The tendency is to only increase. Plus all of these countries are happy with the bigger formats, because it will be easier for them to qualify and participate in the big event. If you ask them, I'm sure they would want a Euro with 32 teams, no matter what the quality would be.
  10. Valentin Ivanov, 18 years ago on the Portugal - Holland WC 1/8 is still more legendary. It was again in Germany
  11. Kovacs isn't the right referee for this match as evident after the end. They needed someone with more authority.
  12. So Holland from 3rd place get the easiest path and a potential rematch with Austria I wanted England for them, so we get a small team in the 1/2 from the other section.
  13. Me too. The pundits talked about it again in the TV studios here today. Along with the original Germany - Austria match from the 80s.
  14. Everyone and their mother were saying, that the "business" draw between Romania and Slovakia is certain. I myself gave the benefit of the doubt and predicted a 2:1 win for RO in the UEFA game. How gullible i know. I don't know in the second half, if the teams were playing to win, or were tricking the public, that they are playing to win. There were some good shots and opportunities on both sides, but did they gave their all, probably not.
  15. This turned out to be false! Today our Olympic Committee announce that boxings Stanimira Petrova and swimmings Lyubomir Epitropov will be Bulgaria's flag bearers.
  16. Austria winning the group will be very interesting for the knockout phase
  17. Italy being a disappointment once again. I had much more hope in Spalleti's hiring, but he hasn't brought any fresh ideas so far..
  18. The "good" news for Bulgaria continue, as our only quota in Canoeing, Yoana Georgieva is with stopped competing rights. She hadn't been found in December for a doping test, when she has allegedly been at University. Afterwards she has been tested 8 times, all of which negative, but nevertheless she is not allowed to compete or train currently. A hearing will be scheduled, but the chances everything is sorted out in time don't look good imo.
  19. We just can't catch a break.. one of the few good athletes we have in athletics
  20. All my prayers are going to Switzerland. Sweden would have also been good, if they didn't plan having events in another country....
  21. Do we have the record number of pitch invaders already at this tournament? Unpopular opinion, but i think not showing them, just encourages people to try even harder to "cheat the system" and "outsmart" the TVs. It's like a cat and mouse game. If they air it like something usual and without much importance, the novelty factor and interest would wear off quickly and people wouldn't have fun with it.
  22. I know it's not the most trustworthy place, but Wiki has us receiving both FS125 and GR130 quotas from reallocations? Someone know where this is coming from and any truth to it?
  23. So, the first week is going to be even more crowded, given that athletics airs 6-7 hours a day, while swimming is around 3.5 hours. Just make it 3 full weeks for Pete's sake!
  24. ^ If anyone still had doubts about the quality of these Euro Champs
  25. From time to time you hear such stories and it's always baffling how top athletes can get big injuries from everyday home life. Huge blow to the UK. They will have a good substitute, but not on Archibald level good.
