The pigeon dance is cancelled, only Balkan dancing allowed at the parties tonight. I was certain Brazil got this after that late goal, who knew that Petkovic can do a decent thing this WC. The OT/Penalty run of Croatia is very fascinating, but can they win it all this way. They are certainly trying.

We had 41 medals in Moscow (8-16-17) and 35 in Seoul (10-12-13). 84' would have probably been the bridge between the two and most likely the best one, so BG would have been top 10 again, and i could fantasize about top 5 -
Very rough 1/8 for my liking, looks like i will have lots of nerves in these final matches. New order of preference: 1. Croatia 2. Morocco 3. France 4. Holland 5. Brazil 6. Portugal 7. Argentina 8. England

Well that was anticlimactic... Luis Enrique should be fired on the spot for having this play with these players. Spain losing on penalties is so normal historically.

More and more i watch, it would appear that Spain - Costa Rica will be the strangest match at this WC... Dr Jekyll and Mister Hyde.

A real pity that Morocco has to play against Spain. I like them and would have rooted for them against all other teams except Croatia and Spain.

Almost all Croatian stars have been substituted. Let's see if the gamble pays off.

Or go with the originally planned preliminary round. The top 16 qualified nations from the rankings (or last world cup performance) go straight to the group stage, while the other 32 play a knockout game to fill the other 16 places. Sure it will probably suck for those teams that travel only for 1 match, but it would be an interesting start to a WC.

Looks like 1/8 number is going to be without drama. The US just couldn't make a decent shot from the penalty area even though they attacked much more.

The armband warriors Germany, Denmark, Wales being evicted one by one is very delightful. Too bad we couldn't get England to join them, but Senegal are coming soon.

At least Germany are making progress. Last time they were last in the group, now they are 3rd and in 2026 there will be only 3 teams in a group, so they can't do worse.
