Do we have a chance in sport climbing?

I think he would need to play Davis Cup in 2019 or 2020 to be eligible. I doubt that he will still be around and will still have the results to qualify anway, besides that I'm not sure if he even wants to play at the Olympics.

We get the one team I wanted to avoid. I know already we will struggle big time creating chances against them. And on top of that we start with a home game Switzerland as usual lucky with the draw, I can't see Northern Ireland beat them. Sweden can be tricky for Italy I think.

Well, what makes a team interesting for me is when they either have an exciting team/exciting players or when they weren't around for a long time (as is the case with Peru) and so can bring something new and exotic to the World Cup. To me neither is the case with Paraguay.

Fantastic final matchday in both CONCACAF and CONMEBOL. Quite shocking that USA are out. Didn't they save Mexico's a*s four years ago with their win in Panama? Very ungrateful from Mexicans And good outcome in South America. Argentina and Colombia qualified, Peru still with a good chance. Paraguay failed against Venezuela, but I didn't really want so see them at the World Cup anyway.

Good to see some fresh faces. Saudi Arabia, Poland, Egypt, Iceland and Serbia all weren't qualified four years ago. And there will be at least two more qualified teams who also weren't (most likely Tunisia and Senegal). Congrats to Serbia. I hope to see Milinkovic-Savic at the World Cup. Serbian coach seems to not rate him very much. Sorry for Slovakia, they were also a bit unlucky with late goals against them during this campaign. And what a fairytale for Iceland. Has to be by far the smallest World Cup nation ever by population.

Scotland is last, but doesn't have to worry about this at all. If they win, they will have 14 points and will reach the play-offs. If they lose or draw, they won't be on 2nd place anyway. We will need to win in Kiev now. Probably the best for us, otherwise we would blow it for sure with our minimalist mentality.

If I remember correctly there hasn't been a non-European debuting nation since 2006. At least will there be one in 2022

Cyprus normally could have a chance to draw or even win against Greece, but I'm not so sure if they even want that today, for obvious reasons. But Bosnia would now probably be worst 2nd placed team anway.

We could even end up worst 2nd placed team now Not only that we lost to this Turkish side, we try to protect a 1:0 lead in a home game against Finland and can't even do that properly.

So Ecuador is eliminated, Uruguay is practically qualified, though not mathematically if I'm not mistaken. This will be an exciting final matchday. Paraguay suddenly with very good chances with a home game against Venezuela remaining to be played. Argentina will have to win in Quito, and they have scored only one goal in the last four matches. Colombia now also very much in danger of missing the World Cup, they will face Peru in Lima.

Probably something like that. Thinking about it now, I might have been a bit too harsh, as we controlled the game most of the time. Defence was alright after all. But it was still disapponting how we played. We scored only one goal in the last three games. Hope we will get out of this slump at the right time. I have the suspicion that it is much about attitude and motivation with our players at this point of the year anyway. Qualification in South America is getting exciting. New Zealand is probably hoping for Peru, Paraguay or Ecuador in the play-off games. Against Chile or Argentina, the difference in quality seems to be too much, despite they both struggling at the moment. Algeria is only the second team from the last World Cup which is already mathematically eliminated in this qualification campaign (the other being Cameroon).

I'm searching for an English word to describe how we played tonight. Bad, rubbish, awful, terrible, horrendous... all not strong enough. No chemistry, no combinations, bad passing, bad crossing and a rubbish goalie. They better step it up in the last two games.

Indeed it's a still a long way to the World Cup for Syria. They will be underdogs against Australia/Saudi Arabia. And even if they win, they would probably be underdogs again against USA, Honduras or Panama. I would pity Uzbekistan if they would have played better today. That just wasn't good enough.

Well, we won yesterday, but my expectations for the tournament aren't high. Depth in our team isn't there, several Centers are missing. We might be able to do some damage at the next World Cup, in case that Hezonja, Bender, Zizic and Zubac develop well (and maybe a solid PG will emerge).

Too bad, I thought Katanec was a great coach, what he achived with your team in his first stint as national coach was impressive. And the individual quality in your team looked solid enough that he might can guide you to Euro 2016 and at least to Play-Offs in this World Cup qualification campaign. Only 4th place for Sara Kolak. Probably the first disappointment in her senior career. The field wasn't even that strong, she just couldn't find her form. Also a pity that Ivan Horvat has been stagnating for a while now. But a nice surprise medal for Stipe Zunic. He has had a great year, constantly throwing over 21 meters. Also finally some good results in junior rowing. The women's four has been very impressive lately.

I was afraid they would blow it when they didn't score for about 15 minutes. Congrats guys, you made Croatia great again.

Will be interesting to see what our Canoe sprint team can do in the future. Antun Novakovic has reached the final today in U23 K1 1000m. Anamaria Govorcinovic will compete in K1 200m and 500 m, which are both olympic disciplines. Vanesa Tot competes in junior competition, she has only reached Final B in C1 500m, but C1 200m is still to come.

Ah okay, I wasn't aware of that. Italy should still make the quarterfinals. Tough opponent for our team.

I couldn't really see Cilic beating Federer in a Wimbledon final anyway, but I was wishing he could bring his A game, Just to see what he can do. Such a shame that he never was able to trouble Federer today. Congrats to Federer, well deserved.
