Spanish playing style totally lacks directness, that is why I didn't consider them favorites to win the World Cup. Its tiki-taka all the time and hardly ever chances for a goal. And Russia can't produce a good counter-attacking game either.

Uruguay didn't do very much in 2nd half, were mainly parking the bus and trying to counter-attack (which didn't work really well). Not that impressed by them today.

Good game. A well playing France side is just too much for this Argentina team I think. They sacrificed some offensive power with Matuidi on the wing, still they had amazing quality up front. Now the three best teams from 2014 are out of the tournament. I don't expect tonight's game to be nearly as good. Both teams lack creativity and they have a different playing style. Smells like extra time there.

Pity. I would have liked Senegal to advance. I can't see Japan being a threat to Belgium or England.

Hopefully Colombia will win this group. Otherwise England and Belgium probably will both try their best to lose tonight's game (2nd placed team in Group G would face Sweden or Switzerland in quarterfinals).

Not sure who deserved it here. I found Sweden to be rather bad in the first two games. Mexico apparently totally collapsed today, but I still think they were the best team in this group. Germany also had two bad games and a mediocre one against Sweden, where they at least dominated even with only 10 players and created some chances. I like to see big surprises in sports, but I still would have wanted Germany to advance rather than Sweden.

I also had the impression that France hasn't shown yet what they are really capable of. I think they will be able to raise their level during this tournament. I'm not so sure if Germany, Brazil, Argentina and Spain also will. They all seem to have actual problems to perform to their potential at the moment.

Very good from Cakir not awarding a second penalty to Nigeria. That was a natural movement and no deliberate handball. Argentina will be the underdog against France, as they have less quality overall. New situation for them, maybe they can surprise.

Not sure if it was a neutrality non-aggression pact, but there wasn't very much to win or to lose for either one of them. Even more so as we don't know yet if Argentina will make it through. I guess both teams were not very motivated and didn't want to risk an injury or something.

Expected. France once again with a crappy performance in final group game, just like (or even worse than) in 2014 and 2016.

I do too. I just hope we don't have to play against France in Round of 16. I'm pretty sure we would lose against them, whereas against Spain I would be cautiously optimistic.

Plus their best centre back was missing. I'm very sorry for the Poles, they have had a good generation of players, but failure at this World Cup was somehow expected under these circumstances.

Very surprised by Japan, thought they were the weakest team in this group. But they have stamina and they know how to fight.

Sweden has very limited abilities, they can't create anything without individual mistakes by German players and they are not even particularly stable in defense. Germany this time indeed lucky that they didn't get a tougher group.

If I were from Switzerland I wouldn't be proud of having Albanian nationalists like Xhaka and Shaqiri on my team. That goal celebration with the double headed eagle was unnecessary. But well deserved win for Switzerland. Serbia didn't show enough considering that they needed the win more.

Who do you think should play then? I could imagine Dybala playing as AM and Messi on the right wing. Aguero and Higuain together probably isn't a viable option.

I guess nobody wants to win Group E if it stays this way. But then again, I'm not sure if Brazil would mind playing against this German team even at this early stage of the tournament, they could have their revenge here.

Really a pity that Salah had to be substituted. Liverpool's confidence seemed to be low after that while Real got encouraged. Hopefully Salah will be at the World Cup. To me it seemed that Real was beatable this year, but nobody could get the job done for various reasons. Luck was also on their side.

Typical for us losing 2-3 against Brazil at the table tennis WC, after 2-0 set lead in decisive fifth match. But our team has performed quite well here.

I think Liverpool lost concentration with that overall big lead in both games. They also have a very important game on Sunday. Will be interesting to see if their counter-pressing game works against Real Madrid.

Very unlucky that it had to be decided this way. In real time it looked like a penalty to me, in slow-motion it doesn't, so I'm not sure. Buffon shouldn't have been given red card, unless it was something he said. Maybe he insulted the referee.

And I was wondering if City could turn the tie around, never even considered Roma to make it. I probably wouldn't even have watched the game Roma-Barcelona if it would have been the only game tonight. I wouldn't underestimate Liverpool. Even against Real they are not without a chance. Reminds me of 2005.

We should qualify in both I think, even if only through OST in Swimming. Hopefully Gacina and Pucar can make it to Tokyo.

I don't think so. Italy, France, Greece and Netherlands are very likely too strong for us.

Really? Great. I've never followed this sport, was looking at the rankings some time ago and didn't see anyone of ours there. Women's water polo team was qualified in 2016 as well, but they were without a chance. I think they lost all five games with a goal difference of -80 or something like that. But it would be nice If they would qualify for Euro tournaments regularly from now on.
