  1. Congrats for the huge win but wasn't Justin Brownlee supposed to be banned for doping ? what happened to him ? did he receive a short ban ? or not even got banned at all ? in short does he keep his Asian Games medal or not ?
  2. Will they reduce the number of wild cards in 100m from the 56 quotas in this event ? or they will be added to this number ? sorry if this had been answered before. hard to check 94 pages.
  3. I was expecting a quota for Macedonia in either W57 or +M80 but there is nothing about it in their NOC's social media. so I assume that didn't happen. Cambodia at 57kg W makes sense. lots of candidates for M 80kg, but my guess is Mali or someone from Oceania. it could be Iraq but I think we would hear about it already.
  4. great job WT also covers Para-Taekwondo, maybe these 2 countries qualified someone for the Paralympics ? (highly unlikely though) if this is correct, I assume that's Ana Bello (W 49kg) for TLS and Paivou Gomis (M +80kg) for GBS both countries had only 1 entry at the continental qualifiers and these are their highest ranked athletes too.
  5. now we have the full list of wrestlers I have to re-write my earlier post again it's possible that countries change their wrestlers because of injuries or another reason. let me know if you are aware of such a change 57kg: top: Micic (1) vs Mohamed (8) /// Abakarov (4) vs Aman (5) bottom: Higuchi (2) vs Abdullaev (7) /// Harutyunyan (3) vs Zou (6) unseeded: Bravo-Young, Cruz, Egorov, Iuna Fafe, Tsyutrin, Rzazade, Almaz-uulu, Lee 65kg: top: Tevanyan (1) vs Tulga (8) /// Rivera (4) vs Mamedov (5) bottom: Amouzad (2) vs Dudaev (7) /// Musukaev (3) vs Aliyev (6) unseeded: Gomez, Valdes, Akazawa, Okorokov, Dzebisashvili, Kiyooka, Retherford, Akmataliev 74kg: top: Dake (1) vs Ndum (8) /// Takatani (4) vs Tsabolov (5) bottom: Bayramov (2) vs Salkazanov (7) /// Kougioumtsidis (3) vs Lu (6) unseeded: Montero, Garzon, Hussen, Chamizo, Zhamalov, Emami, Rassadin, Valiev, Mahdavi 86kg: top: Dauletbekov (1) vs Kurugliev (8) /// Shapiev (4) vs Ramazanov (5) bottom: Yazdani (2) vs Bagaev (7) /// Amine (3) vs Bat-Erdene (6) unseeded: Moore, Ramos, Lawrence, Benferdjallah, Ishiguro, Nurmagomedov, Gamkrelidze, Brooks 97kg top: Magomedov (1) vs Baranowski (8) /// Ciftci (4) vs Matcharashvili (5) bottom: Tazhudinov (2) vs Yergali (7) /// Snyder (3) vs Thiele (6) unseeded: Azarpira, Silot, Perez, El Ders, de Lange, Lefter, Archaia, Habila 125kg top: Zare (1) vs Deng (8) /// Akgul (4) vs Ligeti (5) bottom: Petriashvili (2) vs Kurbanov (7) /// Parris (3) vs Meshvildshvili (6) unseeded: Smith, Dhesi, Mutuwa, Abdelmottaleb, Batirmurzaev, Kosciolek, Lkhagvagerel, Lazarev
  6. despite being a terrible federation in so many aspects, UWW had a clear formula for re-allocation. and no surprise so far. all of these reallocation quotas were expected (I mean expected for those familiar with the sport) but seriously, they have a TERRIBLE way to rank the eliminated wrestlers. some of these guys are getting a quota just because they beat a very weak opponent by fall or sup and that's it. pure luck
  7. it doesn't look like a very tough group for Iran, actually Group A is probably the easier one. but with this coach we are capable of failing in any group and I really hate playing the same teams over and over. Qatar, Uzbekistan and UAE are always in our group
  8. this is not basketball where you can qualify by 1 very big win, in volleyball you can't win more than 3 sets no guarantee any of those 3 teams can qualify with just 3 pts (from a 3-0 win against Egypt) They need at least 1 pt (2 sets) in one of those two matches.
  9. The Italian police should investigate into Davide Mazzanti's bank accounts what he did last year with this team wasn't just bad coaching, that was sabotage intentionally. someone must have paid him to do that, Turkey, Serbia, USA, Brazil maybe ?
  10. their best time (in qualification or in knockout rounds) here are the 7 qualifiers in women's speed Zhou A. Kalucka Sallsabillah Viglione Lebon Romero Colli
  11. Men's speed qualified athletes by my calculation Leonardo Wu Maimuratov Hammer Alipour Tkach Shin
  12. https://sportzona.pl/app/events/view/wrestling/5567
  13. as far as I know based on this ranking https://arena.uww.org/weight-category/show/1eedaad3-e13f-6270-a58e-8f200b10e386/print/rankings
  14. that quota goes to Ukraine I mean there are two scenarios how they reallocate it. a strong one and a weak one. in this weight in both scenarios Ukraine takes it. and @rybak Poland is going to take the 125kg quota. I'm almost sure of it. UWW is probably still figuring out how to deal with some weights. that's why they didn't contact NOCs yet. but these two weights look straight forward to me. ========================================= oh OK, I made a mistake here, nobody takes the 68kg quota, another Russian Elizaveta PETLIAKOVA is invited to wrestle instead of Khanum Valieva
  15. and keep in mind Poland has a Serbian coach. and lost to Serbia last year as well. I know Poland has a very deep squad and I'm sure Polish players will take both matches seriously but still . I think Serbia won the quota tonight. they won the direct quota match vs Cuba. which means they deserve it anyway
  16. looking at men's speed Q results, by my count those athletes didn't make it to the knockout round are mathematically out. we have 3 Indonesians fighting for 1 quota 3 Chinese climbers fighting for 1 and 10 more athletes trying for 5 quotas. their names with their previous round score Tkach (38) Alipour (35) Hammer (34) Maimuratov (30) Shin (29) Noya (26) Ilchyshin (25) Fossali (21) Yasukawa (12) Khaibullin (9) I think Maimuratov is pretty much safe with the fastest time in the qualifiers. even if he loses, 9th place will be enough for him (99%). almost no chance for the last two. so I say it's like 7 athletes for 4 quotas.
  17. that's too much to ask from our Archery federation they are terrible in administrative duties yesterday during the qualification men's recurve, our #1 and #2 (both in top 100 WR with slim chance to do something here) made a mistake and shot the first series of 6 shots in place of each other, both received zero for the first 6 arrows and therefore finished in last positions
  18. I assume they didn't decline the quota but failed to reach the MQS. same goes to the other Oceania archers but in this case what they are going to do with the quota ? awarding it to the next archer in FIQT (which will be our 16 yo kid ) or giving it to the ranking ? the rules say if reallocation happen before the FIQT that quota will go to the FIQT, and if it happens after the FIQT, the quota goes to the ranking. the Oceania qualification happened long time ago, before the FIQT but they are doing the process now, after the FIQT. so to me it can go both ways, depends on how they read their own rules. did I miss something ?
  19. after 15 defeats in a row (7 last year, 8 this year) Iran finally managed to win a match in VNL, surprisingly against the USA ! (also broke the 5th set curse) while it doesn't change anything competition-wise, that was a must needed win for their confidence, that would be the end of our volleyball program if we finished this with 12 defeats. now there is some hope that our team isn't that shit. and to be honest I think if they could pick up a win in the first week, they could be still fighting for the quota.
  20. WT is the worst international federation in term of publishing these kind of news, so we will probably never know until NOC's (those receiving the quotas) announce it but if they are going to reallocate those 4+1 RUS/BLR quotas it will be like this Minina (57W) ==> Hronova Gurtsiev (58M) ==> Korneev Khan (+67W) ==> Jahl Khramtcov (80M) ==> Takov Larin (+80M) ==> Georgievski I think it's pretty clear for the first 3. a little doubt about 80kg quota, Farzad Mansouri won the 3rd place match over Takov but he later awarded a free quota by King Tommy. they can give him the quota and letting him participate by that. (without adding anybody else to the list) but I assume the quota will go to the next ranked athlete Takov. as far Larin, Grand Slam quotas will get reallocated to the next eligible athlete in the World Ranking (January 2024) there are some other guys above the Macedonian but they are all either qualified or their NOC already qualified 2 more. I assume Georgievski was a strong candidate for the Wild Card too. probably won't need that anymore.
  21. not everybody is old enough to remember that WC Romania and Bulgaria were my favorite teams back then (behind Italy of course) . I was a kid and couldn't stay up after midnight to watch that match, I re-watched it in the morning without knowing the result and yeah the defeat was disappointing. but that was a hell of a match
  22. yep. he was supposed to finish 6th with 5 quotas available. 2nd time men's archers losing the quota match, this time 16 years old Mohammadi
  23. none. the event's final ranking which will be based on 1/4 final scores
  24. do we have classification matches to determine the 5th quota ? or they will use their usual ranking (between 5th to 8th) ?
