  1. I never saw any team as bad as Argentina in term of playing power-play ! what the hell is this ?! they play long ball with flying GK ?!!! I wonder how come they scored twice in Egypt in Powerplay situation ?! I watched that match actually too but I don't know maybe Egypt was really bad in defending the PP situation.
  2. what a wasted opportunity in futsal. Iran scored the first goal late in the second half then the ref gave a very dubious penalty (they never showed the replay) to Russia made it 1-1 and when both teams were OK with a draw (which could take everything to the last day) Russia all of a sudden scored from a corner in 40th minute, few seconds later Iran missed an empty goal. with this Brazil and Russia are in semifinal and Iran is eliminated with futsal being OUT. now this is almost a sure thing that we are not going to win any medal outside of our favorite sport. Askaridoun also finished 4th in weightlifting only 1kg behind the Saudi guy. but well he wasn't a medal chance. and Nosrati won our second gold medal in wrestling as expected. at least something to cheer about
  3. Gold medal in wrestling surprisingly Iran's first ever gold medal in YOG in wrestling as expected all wrestlers from Group A teched (superiority win) their opponents from Group B ! unbalanced draw
  4. I was checking results from 2010 YOG Wrestling conception to see if any of those wrestlers become something big (I assume it's still early for 2014 medalists) and of course I only checked men's wrestling. out of all medalists only one of them is a big name now Yuki Takahashi 2017 World Champion. Yousef Ghaderian from Iran also won a World Bronze in 2015 even though he is not something special. but I also see a VERY familiar name there. Geno Petriashvili !! surprisingly he finished 4th in YOG
  5. and I can tell you 99.99% you will get your second medal in wrestling today with Armen Nazaryan's son. he had his early final in the first round
  6. in women's weightlifting, while everybody else finished before 94kg the North Korean started with 100kg in snatch and bombed out she just threw away a 99% gold medal. why they are always stupid like this ?! this is not the first time such things happening for them.
  7. They did that for 2016 Olympics so ... (even though few months/weeks later)
  8. Both wrestlers made it to the final and they already beat their main rival for the gold Nosrati beat Russia and Dehbozorgi beat the Bulgarian Nazaryan (son of the great Armen Nazaryan who beat Dehbozorgi in World youth bronze medal match in a controversial way) Nosrati will wrestle Turkey in the final. and DB will face Ecuador ! both are supposed to win the gold but of course at this age level nothing is guaranteed. and I found no TV coverage ... I hope at least UWW uploads the matches later as they usually do
  9. actually he is now a bronze medalist. the Russian gold medalist failed the drug test. btw I watched a quick match of him. now I don't think he can win the gold. but he is definitely better than the Algerian kid. PS: Iran also qualified in this weight but since the kid lost the final to this Russian kid in a very stupid way in last seconds and pissed off the coaches. they decided to pick up 65kg instead which was a mistake IMO.
  10. damn that's really a bad news for me. our friends in UWW doesn't know that apparently https://unitedworldwrestling.org/article/greco-roman-draws-schedule-and-how-watch
  11. Of course, anything else will be a huge surprise and btw your wrestler is a world bronze medalist. he even has a chance for the gold
  12. that happens with blind draw without seeding. but at least they are trying to have some kind of seeding for major tournaments (Olympics and World Champs) according to current UWW rules since 2017 in case of 6 or 7 wrestlers , we will have 2 groups and top 2 advance to the semifinal. but since YOG is a unique competition they just removed that semifinal part.
  13. where I can find the Olympic channel schedule ? I want to know if there is TV coverage for wrestling or not .I was counting on UWW but it seems unlike all other tournaments UWW won't have a live feed. probably because here the organizer is the IOC.
  14. Wrestling draws are out. like previous YOG, they use a unique format here. 2 groups of 3 wrestlers and the group winner advances to the final (Runner up for the bronze medal match) Greco 45kg draw is funny. there are 3 better wrestlers and all of them in the same group (Iran, Bulgaria and Egypt) while we have Turkmenistan, Honduras and Ecuador in other group ! our other Greco wrestler (flagbearer Nosrati) got Russia in first round . but draw looks better in freestyle. both of them are supposed to go to the final. Zare will be huge favorite for the gold even against Russia. but Karimi will be underdog against Azerbaijan.
  15. no TV coverage and even the official website didn't work during the men's final and also the last part of women's final Hemmati lost by golden score (can't complain she won her semifinal by golden score) but Khosravi won the gold in a close low-scoring match. 3 gold and 1 silver in taekwondo. great result and after watching those two other athletes I have to say they both deserved medal 100% and they faced unbelievably bad officiating . and not in middle of the match when u have time to recover. but in last 10-20 seconds. this is shame. even at the YOG we have to count on Taekwondo, Wrestling (and this time Karate) to win medal but this is it.
  16. Yeah both won by golden score. specially Hemmati she was down by 7-8 pts most of the match . that's a shame there is no TV coverage. we only can see the scoreboard even yesterday both of them had great/unbelievable comebacks . I just wonder where is this spirit in the senior team
  17. two more medals for Iran. AGAIN in taekwondo . obviously we will know the color later today. that's shame there is no TV Coverage today. in past few days we had TV coverage even for the preliminaries. but today nothing even for the finals Iran TKD federation put some clips from the other fights on its instagram account and I have to say both of Iranian kids whom lost in QF by 1point deserved to win actually. specially Momenzadeh she had a kick to the face of her Korean opponent and almost knocked her out. ref even started to count for a knockdown but she stopped counting after 1 ! in current rules only center ref can gives score for face kicks . that was 4pts for Momenzadeh in less than 20 seconds . that's OK this is just the youth Olympics but that would be brilliant to win 6 medals out of 6 athletes. only if we can get such results in senior level
  18. and as I said they won't unless they change they mindset we used to have unlimited weight class in men's wrestling (same as Judo) and at that time we had some huge huge wrestlers with big bellies ! they made a limit for that just to prevent such athletes to wrestle ! wrestling is probably the only fighting sport without unlimited weight class. a funny story. we had a famous American Wrestler Chris Taylor he was almost 200kg !!! at the time they wouldn't award points for stepping out of the mat. otherwise this guy could be multiple World Champion he still won an Olympic bronze because of his size. but there is a moment when German wrestler Wilfried Dietrich threw him and pinned him at the Olympics and the picture of that throw is something wrestling fans always remember. only because of this guy FILA (now UWW) made 130kg as max weight limit
  19. Yeah. you are right this looks stupid to have 10 weight classes for women's wrestling. specially because there is only 26kg difference between lowest and highest weight , this is unbelievably stupid. they made it clear before they don't want women with big bellies on the mat because that's ugly on a singlet ! they won't go heavier than 76 (or something like that) 26kg difference and 10 classes. of course there will be only 2kg difference between some weights but remember we used to had 10 weight classes at the olympics, to me it's OK for men's wrestling there are 70-80 kg difference between lowest and highest weight here. the problem is this stupid gender equality idea. I don't really think women's wrestling needs non-Olympic weights. personally 8 weights for men's wrestling (FS and GR) and 6 weights for women's wrestling looks perfect for me. and that will cover everything. but UWW/IOC doesn't ask for my opinion
  20. Japan came back from 22-17 down to win the set and making sure of the final six spot but I wonder if they know that they didn't celebrate much after the first set.
  21. in Iran. they usually care about Para sports or at least they pretend to care. so the media usually cover such events like this . but since the official website sucks big time they lost the count of number of medals Iran have won. the official website sometimes is very slow in updating the results. this is interesting that the TV coverage isn't that bad (I mean comparing to what you expect) I saw Iranian channels showing Powerlifting, sitting volleyball. wheelchair basketball. swimming and athletics. but the TV graphics almost doesn't exist ! in some sports they just show the result. and in some sports they just don't show anything ! sometimes they just show the big scoreboard in the stadium to see who is who. we were always bad in swimming at any level. but here an Iranian swimmer already won 5 gold medals and he is looking for 2 more. now I see how it feels to win easy medals just by one "very good" athlete. which is not fair. in some sports you have to work hard to win just one medal (even if you are the best of the best) while in swimming just one athlete can win more gold than half of the countries in the Games !
  22. Two back to back gold medals for Iran in taekwondo Ashkevarian's gold medal was expected even though he won the final by the narrowest possible margin but Valinejad surprised me big time. she was underdog in both semifinal and final but somehow found a way to win both matches with a unique technique I NEVER saw from Iranians before. in final she scored 5 spinning kicks which means 20pts and she won it 23-17 !! this Serbian girl beat her twice this year in World Juniors and Olympic Qualifiers but she just didn't know how to stop the spinning kicks. the last time (and only time) an Iranian girl won the Youth Olympics she went to win an Olympic medal as well (Iran's only medal for women at the Olympics) of course I don't see Kimia Alizadeh's potential in Valinejad but who knows. this is only the 2nd medal for Iranian girls at the Youth Olympics (which is also the 2nd gold) btw and that was funny they played a silly (but fun) Persian music at the stadium after the 2nd gold
  23. Finally medal for Iran. two actually. in Taekwondo. we will know the medal color later. shooting was unlucky, both of them had the highest score in qualification but failed badly in the final . we had the same problem at the Asian Games. so many finalists but only 1 medal
  24. Well we lost another taekwondo QF again by 1 point. my stream was working well for 2 hours but then it started to freeze right when Iranian was fighting in 3rd period didn't see what happened to the end. Asghari was up by good margin of points , then it was tied with 5 seconds to go. then freeze. and then I see our kid on the ground almost crying. and his coach telling him "that was your fault letting the ref made you losing" ! but the funny/annoying part was the commentator , she mentioned like 1000000 times that the Azeri guy is World Junior Champion. he is huge favorite here and nobody expects the Iranian to do anything, and blah blah. while in reality both of them were 2018 World Junior Champion (in different weight classes) and Asghari won the Olympic Qualifier and he was the top seed. it doesn't hurt to just google a bit when you are supposed to be the expert commentator.
  25. Russia won all 4 Taekwondo gold medals so far. pretty impressive.
