I just noticed we had a 21st place finish in bouldering while only top 20 could make it to the semifinals ! what a pity I didn't even know we have more than one athlete (beside Alipour of course) here. obviously they paid for their own trips.

That was a good start for Iran. even though I know Puerto Rico was probably the weakest team of the group but still Iranian players usually can't play good for all 3 sets ! even against Pakistan they had hard time to finish it in 3 sets. so I consider this an improvement. next match will be key for Iran. I don't know who is the favorite for tomorrow match vs Bulgaria but I know if they want to go far in this tournament they have to win this one. someone corrects me if I'm wrong but it seems all points from the 1st round will be carrying forward to the next round so you can't afford losing winnable matches if you want to achieve something here.

well. still nothing in senior level and in term of Olympic quotas but Amir Mohammad Nekounam won Iran's first ever gold medal in a world shooting championships in Men's junior rifle 3 positions Iran's 4th medal of the competition and actually his 4th medal too ! previously winning 3 silver medals in Air Rifle, Air rifle team and mixed air rifle ! looks like we finally have a "good" male rifle shooter. I didn't expect an Olympic quota here and had low expectations so winning 4 medals and having some more finalists and couple of 4th place finishes (and for the first time in a pistol event) is actually a good result.

Iran was a mess in last (and only) preparation tournament in Slovenia. coach was still trying to test players etc. obviously sending the first team to the Asian Games wasn't a good idea regarding to this competition. but let's see what they can do when the real tournament starts. 4 years ago Iran lost 4 times to USA in friendlies right before the Worlds but managed to beat USA 3-2 when it mattered btw, watching Iran-Slovenia match, I noticed more than of half of commercials around the court are in Persian language no wonder why FIVB isn't interested to have Slovenia in the World/Nations League. even if they technically deserve to be in top 16 of the World.

I'm still surfing into the results and now I don't think you did quite well in term of gold medals. (I know winning medals in Gymnastics and Athletics are huge achievements and I also saw Indonesia became competitive in so many other sports but I'm only talking about gold medals) out of 31 gold medals, only 6 of them had won in existing events ! the other 25 events had been added into the program only this time and most of them won't stay for the next edition. even though personally I value medals in sport climbing, even though we don't have speed relay even at the World Championships ! Pencak Silat (14), Sport Climbing (3), Paragliding (2), Jet Ski (1) = total 20 gold medals in new sports 1 in Taekwondo but in Poomsae 1 in Rowing but in Lightweight eight which is a new event and we don't have this in any other serious competition (and China didn't enter) 2 in Cycling MTB but in Downhill events which is a new events for AG and beside that from what I heard the organizers didn't let other Cyclists even see the course while host cyclists were training on it. 1 in sepaktakraw but in Quad which is a new event and beside that Indonesia twisted the rules. forcing countries to enter in 2 out of 4 events (instead of 2 out of 3) and they finally found an event where top teams Thailand, Malaysia and even Korea didn't enter. also there is no credit for your gold medal in Karate, that was blatant cheating. your gold medals came from Badminton (2), Wushu (1), Weightlifting (1) and Tennis (1). my point is, if another country was hosting the Games, Indonesia could not win more than 4-5 gold medals. huge difference between 5 and 31 ! I just hope it doesn't become a normal thing for the Asian Games to let the host win much more than what it normally deserves. we never had such a thing in recent years in this scale. even Qatar (which has no shame in cheating) tried to buy athletes instead of adding sports to win some medals back in 2006, they only added equestrian endurance with 2 medals available.

don't know if it had been posted before but here is the final list of qualified wrestlers https://unitedworldwrestling.org/article/wrestling-names-qualifiers-2018-yog-50-nations-set-participate Egypt the only country with full 6 wrestlers.

while we got nothing in senior level and in term of Olympic quotas. at least Iran won two silver medals in junior level first ever world championship medal for Iranian male shooters. and another 4th place for Sadeghian. she missed the medal in Jakarta in the same way.

While surfing the official website I found this https://en.asiangames2018.id/athletes/athlete/BEGUM-Mrs-Kohinur-3014514/ the youngest athlete ever she will born in 2020 !

well done you are my hero can I ask for more videos ? I was wondering what happened to our men's relay team and just watched that. that was a mistake from Ehsan Asrar who left no chance for Alipour cousins to make a comeback. Chinese girl team did the same mistake in bronze medal match vs Iran but since they were MUCH better they still managed to win the bronze. there is a HUGE gap between Indonesia and China with the rest (only Iran men's team was in their level) I still can't understand how come they let countries to enter two teams. it could be at least two bronze medals for Iran

yes it happens so many times, well I think they just copy/paste names from the passports, the problem is the organization who makes these passports. I know the process . they give you a form to write your name in English and whatever nonsense you write that will go to your passport ! they never care to fix possible mistakes. the 2nd part is usually very long and never be used in Iran unless for official documents, I mean if you check the Persian media. you can't find Reza Alipour-Shenazandifar even once. not at all.

in AG for the finals they had 3 direct knockout matches between 6 finalists, winners + the the best loser made it to the semifinal and go on while in the qualification, it was just best of two runs and they sorted athletes based on that. of course I know there is no chance for Alipour, he won't even try the combined event. actually I'm thinking if Japan and Korea complete their quotas before the Asian qualifiers, (that's my question if they are capable of that or not) there will be a slim (but realistic) chance for our climbers , for example in AG, if we exclude Japanese/Korean climbers, Rekabi was 1st in boulder and 2nd in lead , but her very poor result in Speed was costly and she lost the final on tiebreaker to one of Japanese girls.

Well it seems we will have some changes in medal table http://www.ocasia.org/News/GetNewsbyNewsID?q=Cwkxkd2aFz0WxeYGIGD/BEq4E8l0RaH1iwVBeMVDdqU= this will give Kyrgyzstan the 3rd gold medal. Japan will be upgraded to silver and Vietnam will win a bronze medal. the Vietnamese girl wrestled twice and got beaten badly in both of them and now she will be awarded by a bronze medal
-
well after not-good performance at the Asian Games I wasn't expecting much here. but at least winning a junior medal is better than winning nothing I hope China, India and Korea win as many quota as possible which will make life a bit easier for our shooters in Asia
-
his name is just Alipour. obviously someone forgot to add a "space" between two parts of his surname. the 2nd part of surnames are often (99% cases) to be ignored for Iranian names. nobody in Iran knows him by anything but Reza Alipour. it happens a lot with Iranian names. that's why sometimes you see crazy long names. the Asian Games was the first time I was watching a combined competition (maybe the first combined event ever in an official competition ?!) and surprisingly for me they multiply the scores (which I wasn't aware of) ! so there is a huge difference if you win one of those 3 events instead of finishing 2nd. for example if you win something and finish 10th in another one you will get 10 negative points. but if you finish 2nd and 9th you will have 18 neg points ! huge difference. and in the final round "speed event" was a kind of knockout system. not a "qualification system". we had a 7th place finish in Jakarta in combined event and she lost the final by the narrowest possible margin ! I wonder if it means there is a chance (even slim) for Olympic qualification . how good are Asian climbers in this combined event ?!

thanks nice job personally I value medals in old AG sports the same as Olympic sports. like Sepaktakraw, Wushu, Kabaddi, Bowling etc. they had been in AG program for decades and they are very popular in some regions of Asia, but I would like to see the medal table without medals in stupid new events like Paragliding, Pencak Silat, Jet Ski, Bridge, Dragon Boat, Poomsae taekwondo, Jujitsu, Sambo, Kurash and even roller skating, I have doubts about Sport Climbing and Skateboard, they will be in the Olympics program at least for 2020.
-
maybe there was no TV coverage for Sambo !? this is stupid sport btw. same as Jujitsu and Kurash. hard to believe we had all of them in the program ! none of them should be there. I just wanted to see a bit of Sambo. that's probably the only sport here I had no idea about scoring etc. (beside bridge of course) that was 23 August. btw I have PDF official reports of all sports in case you are interested
-
wow that was quick , great job. even though for Gymnastics final they showed commercials when our Gymnast Keikha was performing ! can I ask for more ? what about Speed relay finals ? also I would like to see some Sambo finals.
-
Does it you have all of them ?! what about sport climbing speed finals ? and Gymnastics pommel horse final
-
The men's water polo final was quite dramatic too ! Japan (which is a better team at the moment) was leading 7-4 comfortably in 3rd period but then Kazakhs scored 4 more goals to win the gold 8-7.quite a surprise result if you compare both teams results against other teams. the last time Japan won the gold was 1970 !! this is the 4th time in past 5 editions they are losing the final narrowly !
-
but it seems he is a tough coach. more of half of the "old team" could not work with him because they were a bit lazy ! lol but the rest of the team really like him. btw I just watched the match again on youtube channel 2 (which is still available if you take it few minutes back), specially in last minutes and the penalties. well the luck was in our side this time. the Chinese GK almost saved one of the penalties which could finished the match for China . he saved the ball but then send it to the net himself ! and their celebration was like winning the Olympic gold. and it wasn't just our first medal in Water Polo after 44 years but our first medal in aquatic sports after 44 years !
-
That was my prediction before the Games. well I was predicting 17-23 gold medals and we won 20 ! even in details my prediction wasn't that bad. only Rowing failed to reach the minimum I was expecting. 5 Wrestling 2 Weightlifting 2 Karate 2 Taekwondo 2 Wushu 2 Athletics 1 Sport Climbing 1 Kurash 1 Volleyball 2 in other sports (Kabaddi)
-
well this is the end for Iran. 20-20-22 ! a sad finish since we lost the basketball final once again. that was the last chance for our golden generation we had a 16pts lead in middle of 2nd quarter but all of a sudden they stopped playing and all Chinese players became Stephen Curry and scored back to back 3s. volleyball won the gold easily without dropping a single set.
-
and Ciric deserved lots of credit for that. there was a huge gap between top 3 and Iran in water polo, they worked hard specifically for this match vs China
-
Indonesia cheated A LOT in these Games but in their defense that rule existed even before. for example South Korea entered in all 6 events while other countries had to pick only 2 out 3 for each gender but Indonesia made a little change here. they made it 4 men's and 2 women events. with each country entering only 2 in 4 men's events. there were chance for Indonesia to find a event without both Thailand and Malaysia, and they took advantage of it.
