  1. well I watched most of the competition, all of the medal matches and most of the preliminary rounds (of course you can't watch 3 mats at the same time) first I have to say winning 4 medals is a great result for India. but I have to say luck also played a little factor here. at least for some of them. for example 60kg guy only had to beat Chinese Taipei and Jordan to win the bronze. and he lost 9-0 in semifinal in less than 2 minutes to Bakhromov. if you check the results , most of your defeats were quick 8-0 in first period. why ? because they can't defend well in par terre. and one caution is usually enough for the opponent to score big points in par terre and finish the match quickly. all of those 3 finalists had to come back from being down (2 of them being down 5-6 points) to win the match. because they "survived" the parterre and then destroyed the opponent by being physically tough. I can't remember the last time India beat Iran in Greco-Roman in senior level. (I'm sure it happened before but no match comes to my mind right now) not because we have the best Greco wrestlers in the world. mostly because our wrestlers have more or less the same style as yours and a bit better. you can't beat Iranian wrestlers by "being tough" and tiring them down. we have problem with Kazakh and Kyrgyz wrestlers for example because they are technical. they can score big throws . Indian wrestlers are less technical but if you don't score big early in the match they will beat you in second period. just an example. we have a wrestler world bronze medalist Mohammad Ali Geraei his style is different than the rest of our team. he is much more technical and less "physically strong" he dominated everybody at the Asian Games, but his only close match (which he almost lost) was against your wrestler Gurpreet. he was very close to finish the match 8-0 in 2 minutes but then he only won the match narrowly 8-6. and he would lose the match if there were 1 minute more left. and then Gurpreet lost easily in repechage to the Chinese wrestler Geraei teched easily. two of your 3 finalists lost easily, no surprised they faced World and Olympic medalists in the final. your 87kg guy (I didn't know him before) made it really hard for our Hossein Nouri (we consider him an Olympic medal candidate) he was impressive. even though I can say Gurpreet Singh is the best Greco wrestler you have right now. my point is. your wrestlers still have certain weaknesses. mostly in defending parterre. that's what they have to work on if they want to improve to another level. but still this was a very high level competition, and winning 4 medals was a great result. you have chance to qualify 1-2 wrestlers for the Olympics. but of course that will depend on the draw and also how many Asian wrestlers qualify in the World Championship to make room for the others. with only 16 spots available in each weight, it will be harder for everybody to qualify.
  2. 3rd place and Olympic quota for Haddadi, not bad
  3. having lots of big football stadiums don't help much to host the Asian Games ! Qatar had other problems hosting multi spot events , I remember during the 2006 Asian Games, they didn't have enough hotels (or whatever) for the athletes. they asked the countries to not bring their whole delegation from the start. bring them in pieces and send some home before bringing the rest. and you don't need such big stadiums to host the Asian Cup. they will be empty after all.
  4. This Ajax beating Tottenham is nowhere near being a miracle how come this team is not dominating their own league with 20pts difference or something I know PSV is also very good this season, actually they are the only reason Tottenham is still here by not losing to Inter in San Siro.
  5. Well, that was quite an episode !

  7. lol I never saw people bring "dancers" to their wedding. they just dance themselves. and no belly dancing is not a Persian tradition, never existed in main part of Iran except the Arab provinces in south west. never attended a wedding there, so I have no idea and speaking of customs, nobody except the bride wears anything unusual. people wear what they wear in any other party.
  8. Regarding the main topic of "wedding" I don't know where to start, the whole thing is completely different here and even each region has its own tradition and people are also different, depends on how religious they are. even though nowadays tradition is getting weaker and weaker and people usually just do what they want. but nobody brings cake that's the host's duty. obviously no church (and of course no mosque)
  9. then you are lucky to have her staying at home for the big events is a must thing for me. but sometimes that's hard. for example during the Rio Olympics, for some reasons I could not take personal days for the first week (except one day, not sure it was either Sunday or Saturday). but the work time in Iran is midnight in Brazil, and the last competitions (usually volleyball/basketball) was finishing 6-7 in the morning here and I had to go to work almost without sleeping. doing that for 3-4 days I was like a zombie on Wednesday. (Wednesday here is like your Friday) and when I met my mom that day, her reaction was "you are the craziest stupidest person I ever know"
  10. Does she really consider marrying you ? kidding aside, people here including my own family usually have hard time understanding my love for this (this = following sport competitions, watching etc which takes most of my free time) and from what I see you have the same craziness as me.
  11. for a simple reason, i didn't watch and follow the women's competition.
  12. Final medal table 1. 11-0-6 2. 5-5-6 3. 4-7-6 4. 2-3-5 5. 2-2-12 6. 2-1-5 7. 2-1-3 8. 1-6-9 9. 1-3-2 10. 0-2-5 11. 0-0-1 You always see those top 10 in all wrestling medal tables in Asia, the only addition was Chinese Taipei winning a bronze in women's wrestling.
  13. 2nd day Greco medalists 60 1. Bakhramov 2. Ri 3. Gyanender & Fumita 67: 1. Ryu 2. Shermakhanbet 3. Zhang & Takahashi 72: 1. Geraei 2. Zhang 3. Zhadrayev & Tsarev 82: 1. Abdevali 2. Harpreet 3. Qian & Yerezhepov 97: 1. Dzhuzupbekov 2. Turdiev 3. Aliyari & Xiao Iran somehow miraculously won the team title, after 60kg final winning by Uzbekistan there was only one way for Iran to win the title. winning all 3 medal matches and Uzbekistan losing all 4 remaining medal matches and that's what happened ! winning 4 gold and 3 bronze is an OK result. those 3 who failed to medal also lost very narrowly. interesting point that in both Greco and freestyle Iran had 11 finalists and won all of them !
  14. Greco 2nd day finalists 60 Bakhramov vs Ri 67 Ryu vs Shermakhanbet 72 Geraei vs Zhang 82 Abdevali vs Harpreet 97 Dzhuzupbekov vs Turdiev what a disastrous day. losing is OK but losing to someone 10 times weaker than yourself is unbelievable. and that was the case for Aliyari and Tab (both of his defeats) if Aliyari wrestles this Kyrgyz guy 100 times, he will win 99 of them ! Iran had two eliminated wrestlers today.and with 2 in the final and 3 in bronze medal match, I think Uzbekistan will win the team title. they were also very lucky with the draw in some weights. I think they only have to win 2 of those 5 finals to secure the team title.
  15. Interesting, I didn't know if she was a favorite, this is first time I'm hearing this. I just know she pulled out because of a late injury and her replacement Dehghan finished 6th or something and our cycling federation president said something like "Yazdani is usually 2-3 minutes faster than Dehghan in time trial and Deghahn was 45 seconds away from the medal" but my reaction was "yeah right , medal in women's cycling " I'm really surprised that wasn't just nonsense.

  17. First day Greco medalists 55: 1. Bakhromov 2. Katagiri 3. Sulaimanov & Zhakansha 63: 1. Tuo 2. Tasmuradov 3. Jung & Abdevali 77: 1. Kim 2. Gurpreet 3. Shadukayev & Geraei 87: 1. Nouri 2. Sunil 3. Assakalov & Kustubayev 130: 1. Ghasemi-Monjazi 2. Abdullaev 3. Ramonov & Kuzembayev Tasmuradov's injury in the final was the worst moment of the first day. he couldn't even attend the medal ceremony. that gave China the first Greco medal which was a gold. Iran, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan won 4 medals each. Iran is leading with 90 points, Uzbekistan with 88 and Kazakhstan 70.
  18. Is that even possible ? I can't see South Korea in the Olympic Ranking. that seems unlikely to me. if happens that will be a huge surprise. I'm sure nobody even thought about qualification in women's road cycling. our cycling is almost dead these days.
  19. Today was a historical day for Iranian Cycling. while our men's cycling still sucks , an Iranian girl won Iran's first ever medal in Asian Road Cycling Championships. Somayyeh Yazdani won bronze in Women's Elite Road Race event. if my memory works well, Iran only won medal in Mountain Bike before in women's events. never a medal in track and road events. this is also very surprising, I didn't even know she is this good to challenge for a medal. She won the bronze behind Olga Zablinskaya (UZB) and Na Ahreum (KOR)
  20. There is a facebook user broadcasting the whole competition live. https://www.facebook.com/A.THAI.Weightlifting
  21. Kang from South Korea won the gold medal in women's 81kg , her result is 220kg in total . this is funny that gold medalist in 76kg, 71kg, 64kg, 59kg and even 55kg lifted more than her !!! and 49kg gold medalist could win a silver in this weight probably the weakest weight class in history of the Asian Championships.
  22. they both did great specially Gurpreet Singh, even though both of them will face world medalists in the final. but to be honest your 130kg guy was one of the worst Indian wrestlers I ever seen. don't count on him at all
  23. Greco 1st day finalists 55 Bakhromov vs Katagiri 63 Tasmuradov vs Tuo 77 Kim vs Gurpreet 87 Nouri vs Sunil 130 Ghasemi-Monjazi vs Abdullaev the level is much better in Greco-Roman comparing to freestyle. we had lots of World medalists here. as for Iran, we could have 4 in the final. now we have 2 and also 3 in bronze medal match. Saman Abdevali dominated the Chinese wrestler for the entire 6 minutes but had two stupid mistakes gave up 6 pts and lost it 6-4. Khedri at 55 also lost a comfortable 4-0 lead to Bakhromov 4-4 by a dubious caution in 2nd period. at 77 Geraei lost 8-0 to Olympic Champion Kim HW. of course the match wasn't one-sided as the final score indicates but Geraei really has to learn to respect his opponents sometimes. his open defense sometimes costs him a lot. but the best result of the day belongs to Ghasem-Monjazi, he teched the world bronze medalist from Korea in 30 seconds. Nouri also made it to the final despite being a bit out of shape. he beat Assakalov in process. so far the team title is between Iran, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan will have 5 wrestlers in bronze medal match ! also impressive day for India, both of their finalists came from behind and pinned their Kazakhstani opponents in semifinal. both of them will be heavily underdog in the final though . also great day for Uzbekistan. 3 in the final and Assakalov for the bronze.
  24. two World Records for Rim Jong-sim today in women's 76kg. and Iran won the gold and silver in men's 102kg. but Beiralvand's result was 12kg lighter than Tian Tao at 96kg that wasn't surprising and actually nobody pushed Beiralvand for more , I still think this non-Olympic weights idea wasn't good at all for weightlifting. in this sport you can compare the result and the level is much much lower in non-Olympic weights. if IWF doesn't change the Standards, those WR's will remain unbeaten forever.
  25. Yep. here https://jcf.or.jp/2019 アジア選手権 ジュニア男女個人タイムトラ/?category=road Kazakhstan gold. UZB sliver and HKG bronze. you can find top 3 in each event in JCF website
