  1. PU chitra I think must have got a special invite because she is an Asian games medallists .............................. her SB time is pretty poor 4:12 ...... she probably will not be in the top 100 of the world ........ hope she beats her PB at best
  2. go to hotstar....... go to atheletics ...check .day 5 of championship ....just checked it is at around 2hr 30 minutes into the replay ........
  3. 3 countries with population in the top 10 .... India 2nd , Pakistan 5th & Bangladesh 10th .... Could have been a cracker of an event...... If you go back 60 yrs India and Pakistan were head to head at the Asian Games...the SA games could have been exciting ............But today India can win medals at will in all events even if we send our 5th stringers I feel..... Pakistan is the definition of a failed and sports is just a metaphor of its fall.........
  4. good to know
  5. great news for india
  6. avinash sable does well do break the national record by 3-4 seconds .........good effort , not enough to qualify but moves him in top 50 in atheletics top list and gives him some chance to get a quota place for tokyo second NR and the 4*400 Mixed came very close to NR also , so good efforts by the atheletes..... I think the heat and humidity is helping the Indians
  7. it was lovely to see a person from norway in the typical ETH-KEN .......... so brave
  8. Fabrice Zango ........ bronze at the world iaaf championships ....... Burkina Faso ...... he should be a real prospect
  9. anjali................................ finished 6th but 52.33........ good time if she is consistent at this distance ....... she could be a good alternative to jisna in the 4*400 ........ i
  10. yes she finished a great 5th in the qualification
  11. Great effort by Annu Rani ........ NR and 3rd in the group A would surely qualify
  12. wow ...... what a good throw by rani ...... a new NR and surely she should be through to the finals
  13. Bwf update : kaushal wins maldives open defeating siril verma......... Seems like a long time since I saw sirils name anywhere..... Malvika Bansod won the nepal series defeated gayatri gopichand....... I hope one of these girls comes up......
  14. I think there are a few sports where doping does not give any big advantage - especially accuracy and agility sports - shooting, boxing, archery, tennis, gymnastics, badminton, hockey, football ..... So they tend to be clean..... But there are sports where doping gives huge advantages - strength and speed sports - weightlifting, - cycling, atheletics, swimming and to some extent wrestling ---- here doping is rampant and technology to catch dopers is always 3-5 years behind doping........... Also some countries are covering up doping or because of huge money there are well set up commercial organisations........
  15. Long time prashant...... Did not see your daily updates
  16. Yes pretty excited with this championship - our best event after shooting . India did magnificantly to finish third last time around in India .............. The team is below , Olympic categories - I am pretty happy with the team ........Mary -51 ( multiple world champion) , neeraj -57( world junior gold) lovlina -69 ( last time bronze) saweety- 75 ( world championship medallisy but in 81 ) are all good medal prospects , I personally m not too happy to see Sarita(60) , I wish we had any of the others in that weight - simranjeet or even the sonias from the 57 ........ Non olympic categories - I think jamuna( 54 ) , Manju(48) , kavitha ( 81+ ) are the best prospects so hopefully ....... 2-3 medals in the olympic quota category ...... and 1-2 medals in the non olympic category ...... of course AIBA event so expect some biased refreeing ........ 48 manju 51 Mary 54 jamuna 57 Neeraj 60 sarita 64 manju 69 lovlina 75 saweety 81 nandini 81+ kavita
  17. womens boxing next in a couple of days , the last of the major world championships...... India did magnificantly to finish third last time around in India .............. The teamis below , yellow marked are the olympic events ...................... I am pretty happy with the team ........Mary -51, neeraj -57, lovlina -69and saweety- 75 are all good medal prospects , I personally am not too happy to see Sarita , I wish we had any of the others inthat weight - simranjeet or even the sonias from the 57 ........ Non olympic categories - I think jamuna , Manju(48) , kavitha are the best prospects so hopefully .......

  19. In a sudden move..... FIBA includes India in the pre qualifying Olympic tournament.... Initially it was 7 from A division and top from B division of the Asia cup ...... But India finished 8th in A....... But now since FIBA could not hold the B tournament they have allowed India to participate
  20. good result in Mixed Relay - an SB 3.16.14 with Hima and Arokia Rajeev not there and also a bad baton exchange .... lets hope they can beat their 3.15.71 national record set at the asian games at the finals
  21. sounds great
  22. sadly I do not see any of the Indian atheletes till now even score a PB or even close to it - I think their build up to an event like this should be such that they run at their PB Sreeshanker was really low even compared to what he did a month back , in fact if he had made 8:00 he would have reached the finals ......
  23. But tatiana of Russia has the same weight lifts as what Li did so I am still not sure ....but if they do what will be at best an exchange of 87 and 87+ ..... Will not effect 49 directly.......
  24. jabir and dharun .....but dharun burned out .... but this may turn out to be our very worst world championship ..... almost all our big hopes are out with injury .....
