  5. Not sure about it. India is without Ritu Rani
  6. 1 event which I am eagerly waiting for. The par performance should be India reaching the final
  7. India (world no 13) lost the 1st match by a solitary goal against the host (world no 4). Didn't watch the match but the scoreline indicates that our women's team is improving day by day
  8. Mary Kom loses to Ren Cancan
  9. Congrats @shivathapa on winning India's 1st boxing quota for @Rio2016_en #AsiaOceaniaOlympicQualifier #Boxing #56kg #Rio2016 #RoadToRio
  10. As expected, Devendro lost to the top seed.. Now he will have to win the box off to win Rio quota

  12. In 52kg, Gaurav Bidhuri lost to Japanese boxer while in 69kg, Mandeep Jangra lost to Thai boxer Comfortable wins for Laishram Devendro Singh (46-49kg), Shiva Thapa (-56kg) Boxers qualified for QF (29th March - Noon session starts at 11:30 IST & Evening session starts at 16:30 IST) Men's 46-49kg: Laishram Devendro Singh vs tomorrow evening. Devendro should win comfortably Men's 56kg: Shiva Thapa vs tomorrow evening. Shiva should win comfortably Men's 60kg: Dheeraj Rangi vs tomorrow noon. Tough match. Don't expect him to pull off a surprise Men's 91kg: Parveen Kumar vs tomorrow evening. Tough to predict. Aussie is the slight favourite Women's 51kg: Mary Kom vs tomorrow noon. Should be an easy win for Mary Kom Women's 60kg: Laishram Sarita Devi vs tomorrow noon. Vietnam boxer is the favourite as per the rankings. But Sarita was banned for a long period which might have affected her ranking. So I am expecting Sarita to win comfortably PS: AIBA is the most corrupted sports body in the world & hence anything can happen. Hence I kindly request everyone not to scrutinize my predictions
  13. Since XD performance is not considered for rankkings, I completely agree with your point about Sania partnering with Bopanna/Paes in French Open & Wimbledon. But AITA must announce the possible team by April end or May 1st week
  14. It's too early to discuss.. The goal should be to improve the last time of 6 medals and secure atleast 2 gold medals (India has never won 2 gold medals in single Olympics) Just like we did in 2012, we will be doing complete analysis of each & every India athlete going to Rio in June/July once Indian NOC & other NOCs have announced the respective teams
  15. In the past Olympics, Paes was in top 10 in Men's Doubles (infact the best Indian doubles player) and hence was able to form a team without any issue. But the current situation is completely different with Paes ranked 61st & Bopanna 11th. Maybe, Paes must be optimistic that he can improve the rankings in next 2 months. Right now, I see him playing only Men's Doubles with Bopanna and Sania partnering Bopanna in XD.. I have a feeling that India might not field a Women's Doubles team so that Sania can solely focus on XD unless Ankita Raina improves by huge margin (break into top 150 or 200 in singles ranking, current singles rank is 281) or Prarthana Thonbare (break into top 125 in doubles ranking, current doubles rank is 228 - improved 30 places in last week) in next 2 months
  16. Bopanna will be Sania's partner in mixed doubles due to 2 reasons: 1) For XD, the best 16 combined single/doubles ranking are considered & not like MD or WD where anyone in top 10 is assured a quota/team. Sania & Bopanna are in top 10 whereas Paes is not even in top 20. 2) Sania plays with Bopanna for Indian Aces in IPTL and has shown good chemistry between them
  17. Completed the remaining qualification scenario & timeline (4th post in the 1st page) Key events that are happening this week Badminton - Skycity NewZealand Open (March 22-27) Boxing - Asian & Oceania Olympic Qualifying Event, Qian'an (March 23-April 3, 2016)
