  6. Very sad story here. Alexandra Paul age 31 dies in an automobile accident. She competed in ice dance at the 2014 Winter Games. Skate Canada says former Olympic figure skater Alexandra Paul killed in car crash | CBC Sports
  7. For even years, instead of a WC, why not bring back the Intercalated Games or the Goodwill Games at the least? Well, the standing jumps, Greek stlyle discus throw and freestyle javelin came and went and the sport has managed to stay relevant. So I guess eliminating a few less popular events now won't matter.
  8. Tom Countney 2 x 🥇🥇 800m and 4x400 m at 1956 Olympics has died. Tom Courtney, Olympic Gold Medalist and Fordham Sports Great, Dies at 90
  9. He was 3rd according to US TV announcers. (Announcer said the teenager from the Netherlands gets bronze.)
  10. Exactly. Which is why Kennedy and Moon are tied for first.
  11. USA announcers don't understand the rules on total misses at lower heights.
  12. 1976 Olympic Games, same race, 3000 m SC. Frank Baumgartl stumbles over the last barrier and hits the deck, gets up to his feet and finishes third. (He was in second place at the time.)

  14. Austria (with 3 world championships), Mexico, Panama, Italy, Canada, and Denmark, looking at recent WC results IFAF Flag Football World Championship - Wikipedia Its basically American football with no tackling or helmets - you stop the play by pulling a velcroed "flag" or strip off the offensive player who is in possession of the football at his/her beltline. At least that's how it was in my school days.
  15. I think those three are already approved to be on the core LA 2028 program, before we even begin to talk about what added sports there might be.
  16. 43 Gold Medals seems way too optimistic to me, especially with what I’m seeing this week in swimming and water polo. I have not seen the event by event predictions, but when aquatics produces around 1/3 of your gold medals almost every recent Games, I see a big drop in golds next year.
  17. I don't usually watch morning swim prelims, especially in the distances, but I'm getting ready to watch these two 800 heats.
  18. I think that's a good idea. It has been suggested on other forums that there should be 3 additional medal ceremonies at Paris 2024: 2022 Team Figure Skating and 2012 M HJ and W 400H.
  19. Yeah, I misread the FINA site. Thought they were putting "Qualified" below your time, not above it.
  20. Lydia Jacoby doesn't make it out of the heats. Sorry - She was 14th.
  21. Allison Baver’s trial begins today. https://www.sltrib.com/news/2023/06/26/former-olympic-speedskater-allison/
