  1. Her mother is Chinese. Huske is also from Arlington Virginia, where I live and she is the second swimmer from Arlington to win this particular race., 68 years after the first.
  2. NBC announcer Dan Hicks just said Marchand "is from a small country town about 400 miles from here, in Toulouse France."
  3. Caroline Marks, I know that was riding a good wave.
  4. And Sabre is with any part of the blade, as opposed to tip only for foil and epee.
  5. Same with BBC and FranceTV. NBC has to run about 20 minutes of commercials per hour.
  6. NBC gave us commercials instead of the Refugee Olympic Team segment and for most of Estanguet’s address.
  7. Epic Failure - I think you are spot on. I encountered that during the Tour de France, sometimes I wouldn't turn it on on Peacock until about 5 hours into the race, and it would only go back so far. Maxim was watching a 6+hour stream of rugby, so similar problem. Fortunately, handball matches are only 1.5 to 2 hours. Another thing about Peacock, which should seem obvious, and that is when the live stream ends, no matter where you are in the event, the stream stops and you get the message that replay will be posted soon. So I've rewound the handball match, I'm at about the 45 minute point in the match, and then suddenly without warning it stops.
  8. Question, curious, what exactly happened? I ask because I was able to go back to the beginning of the handball streams today on my PC, even if the match was close to over.
  9. IIRC, the captains of each sport meet and vote for the flagbearers. They put forward someone from their respective sport and then there is a vote amongst the captains. Biles is a strong candidate.
  10. Here are my first picks Athletics Patrizia van der Weken Lieke Klaver Kevin Mayer Yaroslava Mahuchikh Swimming Diogo Ribeiro
  11. Replaced today by Derrick White. Kawhi Leonard out for Paris Olympics; Derrick White to Team USA - ESPN
  12. (1) Just change the above times to US Eastern Time and (2) you aren't the only ones. So 2-4 AM wake up, depending on what on before 1000 in France. 2. 6:00-7:00 pm go to bed. I'm watching in my basement and my wife will join me for much of the coverage. I have 2 TVs and multiple PCs/laptops/tablets/iPhones ready to go.
  13. Still waiting to see if Jessica Springsteen is named to the jumping team.
  14. Is McKeown going to swim the 400 IM? Otherwise, she is 10 seconds ahead of the field.
  15. I'm sure there are more with the same 3 people, but I remembered this one: M 200 IM 2008 Phelps - Cseh - Lochte 2012 Phelps - Lochte - Cseh.
  16. Men's shot put 2016 -2020 exact same order Crouser - Kovacs - Walsh (and I think that is the only repeat podium ever in an individual event).
  17. I'll add for my smaller country. I had toyed with the idea of being in France for the Games as I spend several months a year there (actually just got back to the US less than 2 weeks ago), but in the end I'll be in my a/c basement with my wife watching everything. Have VPN, will be watching as much France TV as I can.
  18. I was happy with the Women's 10 K outcome. Weini Kelati, an Eritrean refugee, and the only American with the standard, wins the race and will be going to Paris.
  19. Me too! I was almost preparing to type 3 no-jumps, Chase Jackson had me on edge as well.
  20. Skye Blakely, artistic gymnastics, has withdrawn from the US Olympic Trials. She was second to Simone Biles at the US championships at the beginning of June. (8) USA Gymnastics on X: "During Podium Training on Wednesday, Skye Blakely sustained a right Achilles injury and will be unable to compete in Olympic Trials. We are cheering for Skye in her recovery!" / X
