  1. Yeah, she should get as fat as the shot putters, then she would be much faster and much healthier.
  2. There are probably a couple million people out there with a better technique than Obiri, but probably only a couple hundred of them are faster than her.
  3. Very disappointed by Klosterhalfen's performance, i expected her to win gold. Not sure i understand her tactics ... she competes in the 5000 m instead of the 1500 m just to wait until the last lap? When you can frontrun 14.26, then maybe it would make sense to attack earlier. I hope that she can show a progression like Hassan, who also took a couple of years at NOP to get where she is now.
  4. Didnt Crouser also break it in round 1?
  5. I think 3 times: 22.36 m by Crouser in round 1, then 22.90 m by Walsh in round 1 and then 22.91 m by Kovacs in round 6. Edit: But i think there were 7 throws past the old championship record (1 by Kovacs, 4 by Crouser, 1 by Walsh and 1 by Romani)
  6. Nice, so the level improved by more than 1 m in 4 years ... more than 5 %. Just imagine at one world championships it takes 2.30 m to win a medal in men's high jump and 4 years later it takes 2.42 m.
  7. Yeah, i know, just funny that Hassan was half a lap ahead of Muir and it didnt even cross his mind that Muir wasnt the best "european" in this race.
  8. I'll go with Justin, he can reuse his blackface outfit.
  9. Very happy for those guys. When you sacrifice a couple decades of life expectancy and need a crane to leave the house, then you deserve all the luck you can get.
  10. Lel, even the german commentator sees Hassan as african ... he said that Muir might have set an european record here ...
  11. Probably the right decision by Klosterhalfen to not compete in this event. She could have probably beaten Tsegay, but her chances over 5000 m look better. Hooligan was nowhere to be seen all season long and then she comes out of nowhere to set an american record?
  12. Amazing result! This is the result i was hoping for but i never dreamt that it could become reality. Great to see Muir, Simpson, Hooligan and the candian fella all without a medal.
  13. Lel @ 22.90 m ... This might turn out to be a bigger freak show than womens 400 m.
  14. German TV just talked to the national coach and he said that Hofmann is in great shape, but his left leg is "too soft", otherwise he would easily be throwing 84 m. Röhler on the other hand has had a technical flaw for multiple months now, so his performance wasnt a shock. Röhler also said that he is focused on Tokyo already and i still consider him the favorite for 2020. I am surprised you picked only 5 medals for Germany ... what about Hussong, Krause, Schwanitz, women's 4 x 100 m relay? I think Germany will end up with 6 medals (Klosterhalfen, Mihambo, Vetter), which is decent, considering the missed chances by Hussong, Linke, the women's 4 x 100 m relay, Hofmann (probably) and the absence of Carolin Schäfer (who could have won bronze in her normal shape).
  15. Amazing performance by the estonian guy, he might actually have a chance to win a medal!
  16. Wouldnt call it shock exit ... he clearly had to be considered the weakest of the 4 german throwers. His season has been pretty bad for his standards and his shape was pointing in the wrong direction recently + the conditions are in favor of athletes who, unlike Röhler, mostly rely on strength instead of technique (like Vetter).
  17. 6.98 m for Mihambo in her first jump without even hitting the board ... (giving away 23 cm) I hope to see 7.25 m - 7.30 m in the final.
  18. If only we could have men's high jump final every day ... then we always would have a great atmosphere. In the end it really is IAAF's fault that the atmosphere was so bad. If they wouldnt have made it so difficult for countries like Qatar to naturalize athletes, then they would have been competitive in many more disciplines and the atmosphere would have been better. Maybe IAAF should force some kenyan/ethiopian runners to represent Qatar?
  19. Nice season's best and olympic standard for Roleder. She always peaks at the right time and with a bit of luck she could make the final here.
  20. How does Klishina not starting have any impact on Mihambo's gold medal chances?
  21. Good to know, of course that doesnt change the fact that race walking shouldnt be an olympic sport. I guess getting rid of race walking wont be possible thanks to the influence of China.
  22. Extremely unlucky results for Germany once again. With just 0.8 points more the team would have made the final and i am sure that would have been better for the competition as a whole. With Scheder and Alt they easily would have qualified for the final. I expected Italy, GB and Canada to be much stronger. Hopefully at least Seitz can win a medal on uneven bars, it would be sad for Germany to end their home world championships without a medal.
  23. Great silver medal for the russian guy, he keeps the great russian race walking tradition alive. It is really inspiring to see that russia just doesnt give a fuck. They know that everyone thinks that they are doping, but they just dont care.
  24. I feel really bad for the chinese guys, i think for them it would be the most important to win a medal.
  25. Linke is really cursed, he is the male version of Silke Spiegelburg.
