  1. What a freaking horrible day for Germany already, this could be an historic disaster.
  2. 2 questions for the experts: 1) When was the last time that a german finished top 10 in the downhill at the olympics? 2) When was the last (and only) time that a german finished ahead of all austrians in the downhill?
  3. Completely agree! In addition to being the best, they also have the advantage of a (slightly) better course, it should be the other way round.
  4. My prediction was Svindal ahead of Feuz and Reichelt ...
  5. Did i miss something? The race is far from over ...
  6. That was my problem with Dreßen's run, it looked absolutely flawless, which normally means that you don't have enough speed.
  7. I am really sad that Dreßen will start first, after the first 5, the medal dreams will probably be already over.
  8. Wow, great atmosphere at the track! Apparently half of the korean people are currently there.
  9. Germany is in the lead! Probably the only time i will be able to say that in a snowboarding event at the olympics.
  10. Top 3 results of the korean guy in 4th ever: All this season: 7th place in Igls 11th place in Park City 16th place in Whistler Last year his best results were: 1 x 16th place and 1 x 24th place Interesting information: He began this sport in his second year of university ...
  11. Why do you say that? 2-8 will fight for silver and bronze. I think it will be between Dukurs, the british guy and the russian guy. Not sure whether the british guy can handle the pressure anyway.
  12. Yes, he probably would have won anywhere, but it didn't have to be such a snoozefest. He will probably be so far ahead before the last run, that he can walk down the slide down the track on his ass and still win.
  13. Normally yes, but the top 5 are just too good. No way that she will win 0.5 seconds or more against Moelgg or Shiffrin. USA will win it's first gold outside of snowboarding today. Just sad that this was her last giant slalom race at olympics. Who would have thought 8 years ago, when she won gold as a 20 year old, that this would remain her best olympic result forever?
  14. Everyone who bet 10 points that the combined winning time in skeleton will be 1s or more can already open a bottle of champagne. In the men's competition alone it should be 1,5 seconds at least. I thought it was pretty funny that the korean guy barely competed in training, he probably had more training runs on this track than all other athletes combined.
  15. Top 5 will fight for medal. I think it will be 1) Shiffrin 2/3) Mowinckel + an italian girl Very sad that the best athlete of the season had a blackout. This was the last olympic medal chance in Rebensburg's career and now it's already over, but still i am extremely happy that finally we can see some sport, i really missed that.
  16. I read that the decision would probably be made in 2021. The idea is basically pushed by one sports manager (Michael Mronz) and the idea is to have 13 cities host the olympics together. For example: Aachen = Equestrian, modern pentathlon Bonn = Baseball, basketball, softball, archery Dortmund = Football, shooting, wrestling, road cycling, skateboarding Duisburg = Football, canoeing, rowing Düsseldorf = Basketball, badminton, track cycling, beach volleyball, handball, judo, tennis, table tennis, volleyball + Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Cologne, Krefeld, Leverkusen, Mönchengladbach, Oberhausen, Recklinghausen Here you can find a map, which sports should take place where (according to first plans): http://www.wz.de/home/sport/olympia-in-nrw-diese-staedte-sollen-die-spiele-2032-ausrichten-1.2474742 I think people could get behind it, but the whole idea is to keep it very cheap, so we know what the IOC will think about it ... The people who organized this said that 80% of the facilities are already there and have to be renovated, there are 5 stadiums with a capacity of at least 45.000 and 24 indoor facilities with a capacity of at least 3000. All the swimming competitions should take place in a temporary pool inside the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen.
  17. I don't think that they can win the medal table. By total medals, they don't really have a chance to win 30 or more and i think Norway + maybe 2-3 other nations (Germany, Canada, USA) will do that. By gold, they might, i think the best case for them would be 12 golds here, but i think Germany (7 golds already + possible chances in women's skeleton, 3 x bob, luge team relay, alpine skiing giant slalom, biathlon women's relay, biathlon men's relay, biathlon mixed relay, nordic combined large hill, nordic combined team, ski jumping large hill, ski jumping team, snowboarding women's PGS) + maybe Norway can get there as well. Women's 500 m: Before the games this was by far the least likely gold for the Netherlands and i think it still is, maybe 10% at best i would say. Women's 5000 m: I think they will win gold there, don't know who Women's team pursuit: Hard to say, probably about 50% for gold Men's/Women's mass start: Impossible to say for me, don't understand it, don't care about it, don't know who the favorites are, but whenever i watched it, i thought that the outcome looks pretty "random". Men's 500/1000 m: Without the russians, i expect the dutch to win 2 golds Men's 10000 m: Safe gold Men's team pursuit: I'd say their chance might even be better than on the women's side, but in the world cup they never take it seriously, so i don't know what they are capable of. I think 4 golds should be safe + maybe 2 more.
  18. I don't hope so. By saying that you are basically showing the same behavior as the korean fans, of course at a much less harmful level. They blamed her for a (possible) mistake by the judges, now you "blame" the korean athletes (by basically wishing them bad luck) for the things their (supposed) fans did. It's bad enough that politics infiltrated sports again, but to see people threating someone's life because of a sports result is a quite shocking for me. It's good to be passionate about sports, but with those people i have the feeling that they are not really passionate about sport but more about their national pride. I think it would be great if everyone could turn it down a notch, if we haven't reached the "point of no return" by now of course.
  19. I doubt that they will win women's 500 m, women's team pursuit should also be difficult and let's see about mass start.
  20. Japan is winning tons of medals, but never gold ...
  21. Absolutely horrible, i wanted gold for Kodaira. The only good result would have been 1) Kodaira 2) Ter Mors 3) Herzog.
