  1. A new record in marathon for was set last week in Germany by Iván Zarco with 2:17:46. Nothing groundbreaking or weird to this, except for the fact that it wasnt Iván Zarco running. Photos of the event show that it was spanish athlete Camilo Santiago running with his bib. Idk what happened there, but WA is giving it as a national record for Ivan when it wasnt even him racing. I smell something fishy.
  2. Both ships DNC in the first race... They are the only africans here. If I'm not wrong, they just need to end one race to qualify
  3. I cant find anything. The event is called "Copa Pirineus", but I can't find anything more. Sorry
  4. Probably you all arent aware of the storm that is happening at the spanish canoeing team. The federation decided to hold trials for the olympic K4 event, and only invited 6 athletes to take part on it. The trials were last week by they were so obviously tampered by Saul Craviotto (several olympic medallists) and Carlos Arevalo, to benefit their friends Marcus Walz and Rodrigo Germade made the team with them, that the federation had to repeat the trials this week. Obiously the federation wants Sauk Craviotto happy since it's a very popular in Spain and want that press in the games. Even the "coach/boss" of the K4 boat and who is in charge of the selecction is Miguel García, Craviotto's coach. The trials were due to celebrate this weekend, but the two affected canoeist Carlos Garrote (2020 world champ) and Cristian Toro (2016 olympic champ) had left the trials and would not compete. Garrote claims that has audios that prove that Saul Craviotto and the K4 coach Miguel Garcia tampered the trial to benefit Saul's friends. And Saul Craviotto's attorney's are threating to sue Carlos Garrote. This is a mess.
  5. Orlando Ortega wouldn't be compiting either due to injury
  6. New Zealand rejected their quota in Laser Radial (sailing), given to Spain who accepted it.
  7. According to the Spanish Federation, the quotas from the World Qualifier would be awared via Ranking, distributing them equally to the diferent continents. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1839834102856700&id=154929201347207
  8. Boxing World Qualifier cancelled by the IOC Task Force https://www.marca.com/juegos-olimpicos/2021/02/15/602af10cca474155528b456d.html Quotas that were going to be allocated there are going to be reallocated to the Continental Qualifiers. Also, BTF ranking would give the quotas left. This is awfull news. Giving quotas after already terminated events (Africa/Asia and half of Europe) doesn't sound very fair or clean. If the IOC can plan to celebrate an event in June, why not just axe boxing???
  9. Also Darly Zoqbi, goalkeper in the womans handball, was born in Brazil and has chances to go to the Olympics if we qualify the team.
  10. No, Artemi retired (the full spanish RG team that was silver in Rio retired in 2018). Yes, Aliona Bolsova is from Moldova. But I didn't include her since she's probably not making the games. Same thing with Alejandro Davidovich, who was born in Spain but his parents are from Russia.
  11. I'm going to do the one from the athletes already qualyfied to the 2020 Olympics (In team sports, I took the rooster for the qualifying event), in some ranking events I counted some people that look like they would qualify. Probably missing people though: ATHLETICS Orlando Ortega (110 hurdles) and Louis Maikel Martínez (Hammer): deflected from Cuba Adel Mechaal (1500) and Houssame Bennabou (Marathon) came with their parents when they were kids. Ayad Lamdassem (marathon) emigrated from Morocco. Hamid Ben Daoud (Marathon) came to Spain as an illegal immigrant at 14 years old hidden behind a truck. Similar story to Ibrahim Eyzzaidounni (3000Ste) Also, Ana Peleteiro was born in Spain to uknown parents, who couldn't take take of her so they put her in foster, and was addopted as a baby by her family, She doesn't know her origin. BASKETBALL Nikola Mirotic, born in Montenegro Nogaye Lo, born in Spain to senegalese parents. BEACH VOLLEYBALL Liliana Fernandez was born in Spain to a spanish father and a croatian mother. Elsa Baquerizo's mom is american. CANOEING Marcus Walz's parents came from UK and Germany FOOTBALL Junior Firpo, originally from the Dominican Republic. GYMNASTICS Ray Zapata was born in the Dominican Republic before moving to Spain at a young age. Thierno Boubacar, his family moved to Spain at a young age. Roxanna Popa, same as Thierno HANDBALL Alex and Daniel Dujshebaev, born in Spain to a Kyrgz father, their mother has origin. JUDO Niko Sherazadishvili was born in Georgia, where he started in Judo before moving to Spain. KARATE Damian Quintero's family emigrated to Spain when he was five. SAILING Florian Trittel's fathers are german. SWIMMING Hugo Gonzalez's mother was born in Brazil. TENNIS Garbiñe Muguruza was born in Venezuela, her mother is from Venezuela, his father was an exiliated spaniard. Paula Badosa has part of american origin. WATERPOLO Felipe Perrone was born in Brazil. He started compiting from Spain, then represented Brazil and now is with Spain again.
  12. Spanish National 50km/35km race walking championships, Seville, Feb 14 2021 Mens 50km race walk: Claudio Villanueva (3:47:56) Luis Manuel Corchete (3:49:19) http://www.resultadosrfea.es/Resultados4/C73.0015.html
  13. Just what the qualification for the marathon at the OG need, a big mass event done just for more people to do the qualifiying mark.......
  14. I would love Ski Mountainerring in the games. Is about time. Come on, IOC, do something right for once....
  15. Are they going to announce the sports one by one?
  16. Good for beach-handball, excited to see team sports making the games, even if it's this "beach" format... European Games needed it.
  17. No women's football....... The athletics events are a monstruosity. the programme is ugly- They took out a lot of things from previous years and didn't replace it with nothing.
  18. Spanish press talking about 35 km race walk with a 2 men / 2 women team, adding times to determinate the winner
  19. ok thanks. There was the small talk in Spain about the chance of Russia losing the right to compete in the Women's Rugby 7s final qualification tournament and maybe Spain taking their place....
  20. there's no chance Russia Neutral Athletes would lose any already won quota after this, right?
  21. Idk in other countrys, but events like Volvo Ocean Race and things like that are far more popular in Spain that any other sailing event. The Offshore event would have drawn some attention, at least here.
