  1. Nice performance and score for Mexico
  2. I think it's more to do with the fact that so far I see the 5 ball is more about passing and throwing the ball and working the routine around that. But the individual was a real form of artistic expression and loved the skills involved. It's just my really amateur observation as I honestly am almost completely new to watching rhythmic gymnastics. But I really enjoyed the individual hoop and ball finals and would definitely watch that in future
  3. I really enjoyed watching the individual ball final. I really appreciated the skill and the artistic expression. The 5 ball is much less interesting as an event.
  4. That presentation music gets a bit annoying as it just keeps repeating
  5. Looks to be a great atmosphere there at the rhythmic gymnastics.
  6. The inquiry for Fainberg was rejected.
  7. What a comeback win for Podorowska. Well done to her
  8. Well with 3 going up again in 2021 we might be going up and down like yo-yos
  9. It’s all down to the fact the Super League is being re-structured so that from 2021, there will only be 8 teams in the top league. So it means 5 teams drop out of the top tier and this filters down through all the leagues meaning 5 go down and only 1 goes up.
  10. And my predictions are as follows: Edit: I originally was going to say Norway for the reason they have home advantage and will pick up a lot of surprise points, but in a league so close as this, I just realised how weak their relay teams are and that's 4 big concessions right there. So based on that, I think will bring it home. Relegated teams: and . There are a lot of strong teams in the field events this year (Belarus and Hungary) and Turkey and Portugal are proving to be good across the board so will be tough for any of these 4 teams (each with weak areas) to make up the difference. Romania may be the most likely to cause a surprise as you never know how their athletes truly are in terms of shape, but those would be my picks.
  11. I've done a quick calculation based on the season's rankings of the entered athletes (obviously SB are themselves problematic as some athletes are being entered in events they didn't compete in this year). There may be a couple of miscalculations but it's a rough guide... also these are without the relays.... 259 ------------------ 256 246 238 234 230 220 ------------------ 197 181 170 146 Looks like the bottom 4 have a lot of work to do based on that. Teams like Romania and Turkey will probably perform better than SB lists as they tend to do. Some teams had an experienced athlete with no SB so that will obscure the table too and as I said, that is without the relays. Norway has home advantage which should lift them to gain a few points more than expected here and there. I don't see Ireland getting out of the relegation zone as we don't really have any scope to improve on the track as we already gain many points there and we are just too weak in the field events.

  13. Maybe, but don't think Belgium will be so strong but they will be solid for sure. Don't think they will be relegated but I don't think they have the firepower either to score enough points to be 4th. But it's so tight in this division that teams yo-yo up and down the table from year to year. Switzerland were struggling for relegation and next thing they were promoted to Super League. Belgium were 4th in 2015 and in 2017 were 9th. And these trends are regular in this division. And Ireland are extremely weak as always in field events so we will likely concede our chances of survival in those events. In recent years our track athletes have really saved our bacon but with 4 teams dropping down along with Russia then the chances of survival are not so good. But there is hope.

  15. I think it's going to be tight between and for the promotion slot. I would probably put Belgium a bit lower on the list, around 7th. But it's going to be very close!
  16. The Irish squad for the European eventing championships is as follows: Clare Abbott riding Euro Prince Cathal Daniels riding Rioghan Rua Sarah Ennis riding Woodcourt Garrison Ciaran Glynn riding November Night Sam Watson riding Imperial Sky or Tullabeg Flamenco
  17. Grasshopper.....in the Irish language, it's called "dreoilín teaspaigh" which translates to English as "wren of the hot weather"
  18. How can you not like the European Team Championships?
  19. So it's more complicated than usual this year. Instead of the 3 up, 3 down in terms of promotion / relegation, with changes in the amount of teams in the Super League for 2021, it means only 1 team will be promoted, and 5 teams will be relegated to the Second League. This makes it much harder for nations like Ireland to stay afloat this year. Russia also are still ineligible to compete so they will be one of the 5 relegated teams and only 11 teams will take part. So you need to be in the top 7 to remain in the First League for 2019, the winner gets promoted to a new 8-team Super League, and positions 8th-11th fall through the trap door to the Second League.... God help us @Werloc and @hckosice European Team Championships 2019 - 1st League Rk Nation Pts 1 Belarus 0 2 Belgium 0 3 Hungary 0 4 Ireland 0 5 Lithuania 0 6 Netherlands 0 7 Norway 0 8 Portugal 0 9 Romania 0 10 Slovakia 0 11 Turkey 0 - Russia -
  20. I wasn't sure whether to make a general thread for the European Team Championships or one specifically for the First League. But as I want to have somewhere to discuss the First League, I opened one anyway, so I'll let the admins decide. Anyway, the First League contains the nations of quite a few Totallympians so should be good scrap.... expecting @Werloc @hckosice and @heywoodu, to be interested at least

  23. Yes those pics won’t be of The Pacific Trash Vortex because like @Agger says, it doesn’t look like a bunch of trash floating on top of the ocean like that. It’s more dispersed and full of micro plastics in every part of the water. So it’s a huge problem but those pics will most likely be from some other lake or something where trash has gathered in huge quantity.
