Singapore hurdlers’ national records annulled after technical glitch
Bad news not only for the Singaporeans but also for the Thais. Joshua Atkinson’s time of 45.13 in the men’s 400 meters was the fastest in the event by a Southeast Asian athlete since 1984.

It’s the Southeast Asian Games. So it’s best to keep our expectations as low as possible.

There's a lot of scuttlebutt online about the schedule for the women's 100 and they don't like it all happening on the first day. Have a feeling we might see some tweaks to the schedule for athletics, although to move things around for Sydney would feel like it could be some home cooking and I'm not sure how well that would be perceived outside of the US
They moved things around for Michael Johnson back in 1996 and I don’t recall anyone making a fuss about it in or outside the US.

Jilin, China has made a bid for the 2027 World University Games. There has been no interest at all, so they will be awarded the games at the end of the month
You’re referring to the 2027 Winter University Games. For a while there, I thought the original host of the Summer Games, Chungcheong Province, Korea, had backed out.

What a weird rule the OCA has. At the Asian Youth Games, the women's golf was swept by China, but the bronze medal went to 4th place.
That rule has been in place a long time. If you look at the results of previous Asian Games in bowling or shooting, you’d see third place athletes being deprived of their medals because of the no clean sweep rule.

Carlos Yulo
into the finals of the men’s floor exercise and vault despite nursing a wrist injury.
Amanda Yap
places 7th in qualifying for the balance beam and becomes the first athlete from her country to make a world championship final. She then flew back to Singapore to take her school exams.

Latest news from the local press is that Carlos Yulo will be skipping the Southeast Asian Games.

This is why the Southeast Asian Games has become a joke to me. Just because one country has a dominant gymnast on the world stage doesn’t give the host country the right to limit him or her to just one event at the Games. And it isn’t just in one sport. Look at diving. They limit the number of events there to stop the Malaysians from winning more gold medals. Maybe it’s time the decisions to add or scrap events and to determine how many events one gets to take part in be taken away from the host country.

The men’s 800, One Mile and 5,000 in athletics are all scheduled on the same day, August 1. This rules out anyone trying to attempt the 800-Mile or Mile-5,000 double.

A matter of the pot calling the kettle black. The Indonesian authorities conveniently forgot about their occupation of East Timor from 1975 to 1999.
