  1. Is the plan to do it later or try to finish everything by the 27th?
  2. I assume a cricket competition would split the West Indies so there will actually be a decent number of teams. would all be decent teams. Perhaps some of the smaller members of the West Indies could also take on for a spot.
  3. I'm not sure how much power the host nation has in choosing the optional sports. I feel most of the optional sports would be safe in Colombia 2027 except basque pelota and breaking if WorldDance stops developing it. Baseball/Softball and squash are very safe since they will be at the 2028 Olympics. Bowling, karate and an expanded roller sports program feel safe to me given Colombia's participation and results in those sports. That leaves racquetball and water skiing as the most at risk sports if the host nation wants to tighten things up. As for the other three new Olympic sports (cricket, flag football and lacrosse), I don't really see any of them participating. The only reason would be if Pan Am Sports wants to make the Pan Am Games the continental qualifier, but if Colombia gets to pick I imagine they would leave the three out.
  4. This has been a thing for a while. 2023 was suppose to be the Olympic program plus a couple of extra sports. Ultimately it ended up with only bodybuilding (which was added in 2019) missing out. I think what will happen is the host must include the Olympic program and the other sports are optional. The good news for the non-Olympic sports is they are relatively cheap to host. Baseball/Softball is obviously expensive, but after that roller sports would be the next most expensive sport.
  5. The schedule has been favourable to the United States. I don't suspect they will get to 170. Over 122 gold is much more doable.

Venezuela drops two spots as they failed to win a gold medal today. Huge day for Mexico again as they snap up another 6 golds to extend their second place lead. Chile had a great day as they more than doubled their medal total. It was also a great day for Canada who almost doubled their total medal count.

  8. puts almost all of its skill points into racquetball and a little into race walking.
  9. I got a bad feeling about this. Will the host nation boost cost us a team quota?
  10. I suspect with the host nation boost, Chile will be competing with the likes of Argentina, Colombia and Cuba. If not, they should still finish solidly in the top 10. While swimming appears to be a diverse sport given that most nations compete in it, in reality only a handful of nations excel in it. Currently only 5/45 (11%) of medals were won by non-USA/Brazil/Canada nations. In 2019, it was 21/114 (18%) and Argentina accounted for 10 of them. So unless you are planning to compete with Brazil/Canada you don't really need a good swim team to excel.
  11. To be fair, we were pretty cursed in 2019, we were capable of winning 10-15 more golds, but our athletes fell at the final hurdle.
  12. Top 10 After Day 2 Nations Gold Silver Bronze Total 1. United States 20 11 15 46 2. Mexico 10 5 3 18 3. Canada 9 6 6 21 4. Brazil 5 9 9 23 5. Colombia 3 5 6 14 6. Venezuela 2 3 1 6 7. Cuba 2 1 2 5 8. Chile 1 3 2 6 9. Dominican Republic 1 2 1 4 10. Peru 1 1 7 9 Mexico's high efficiency allows it to remain in second after the second day. The lack of gold medals for Argentina has cost it a spot in the top 10 and has been replaced by Peru. Though I believe they will return as more favorable medals are awarded.

  14. The Olympic quotas for today: Shooting - Men's 25m Rapid Fire Pistol - Shooting - Men's Skeet - Shooting - Women's Skeet - Sport Climbing - Men's Speed -
  15. If you are going to watch/follow Pan American sports knowing a little Spanish is almost a requirement. Some Portuguese won't hurt either
  16. I know it sounds bias since we just won gold, but I'd like to repeat how much better the format in park is compared to street.
  17. After Day 1, United States takes control of the medal table with 9 golds and 20 total medals. Mexico is second with 6 golds and 12 total medals. Both Brazil and Canada have four medals, but Brazil has more silver medals (3 v 2). Brazil has 13 total medals while Canada has 9.
  18. So today's Olympic quotas: Diving - Women's 10m Platform - Reallocated Shooting - Men's 10m Air Rifle - Shooting - Women's 10m Air Rifle - Sport Climbing - Women's Speed -
  19. Canada with a 20 second lead after two laps
  20. v after one lap in women's cross-country mountain bike
  21. First gold for Canada. At least we can say we held a lead at the Pan American Games
  22. I guess she didn't get enough points for citizenship
  23. No, the 3 universality will count in the 48 athlete total so to be truly safe you need to be in the top 45.
  24. I'm not surprised, she's been getting less field time despite her "respect" factor. It was quite believable that she would be at best a sub for the last ~20 minutes of games. Her going for one last World Cup was understandable, but she already has Olympic gold and the all-time scoring record. There's nothing more for her to achieve.
