  1. If these are considered to be one-off test matches (importance = 1) then France would need to win all six matches in order to rank above South Africa. I think this is more for practice than France trying to move up in the rankings.
  2. The main round opens with winning over 37-32. Norway continues to struggle, quite unlikely for them to reach the semifinals now. Even getting to the 5th place match is going to be tough.
  3. So looking at the final Olympic qualifier, currently are already qualified to the Olympics while will qualify through the World quota (provided they don't qualify here). could qualify as a World team should one of the previously mentioned European teams and/or Egypt qualify through their respective continental qualifier. That means for to have any chance at making the Olympics they will need to finish as the two highest ranked eligible teams to get the European quota. Despite failing to reach the Main Round will compete at the OQT as "World 1"
  4. For football it makes even less sense to have reduced team size since they don't even stay at the athlete's village.
  5. I view the summer team sports as: Football > Basketball > Volleyball > Handball > Rugby Sevens > Field Hockey > Water Polo Rugby Sevens and Field Hockey are close IMO. Rugby Sevens does better with men while Field Hockey does better with women. Rugby Sevens also has a better global distribution IMO. Ice Hockey (and winter sports in general) is difficult to compare. If we hold Ice Hockey to Summer Olympics standards it would rank just above Water Polo at best because so few nations participate, but fewer nations take part in winter sports so is it a fair comparison?
  6. just needs a 2-goal win to make the semis, even one goal may be enough depending on how the other match goes. The winner of and will advance. could advance with a loss, but needs the other match to go their way. A draw would be then end for or (unless both games end in a draw)
  7. Canada's chances were very slim, but they are pretty much gone now.
  8. Pretty much. Unfortunately, I think Canada will be the odd team out.
  9. Eritrea was the sacrificial lamb in this fight. If someone is brave enough, UCI has confirmed its quotas so nothing should stop the creation of its Wikipedia page at this point.
  10. is already qualified, the quota will be reallocated to Cayman Islands
  11. No World Sailing has published it as well. You can see it here
  12. Since was given the ILCA 7 quota (I still think it's a mistake) then may still get the ILCA 6 reallocated quota.
  13. Unfortunately they didn't get the memo that the Worlds are higher priority than the continental qualifiers
  14. From a morale perspective losing 10-2 is pretty soul crushing, especially for a junior team. The coaching staff better be ready to deal with that.
  15. are also eligible to win a quota since the 2024 Worlds have a higher priority. Should they qualify here then their continental quota will be reallocated.
  16. From a data preservation point of view do you have the information achieved somewhere off-site? It would be a huge loss should the site be taken down.
  17. Yeah, the IOC been walking a fine line over the past year. I doubt they will be dumb enough to give them quotas, that's a PR nightmare waiting to happen.
  18. No clearly the water sport coalition will form a boycott. Say goodbye to sailing, canoeing, rowing, swimming, 1/3 of the triathlon and the 3000m steeplechase
  19. Poland currently has 5 athlete/horse combos with MER Beata Stremler (Fairplay) Marta Sobierajska (Ultrablue de Massa) Magdalena Jura (Ron) Aleksandra Szulc (Breakdance) Zaneta Skowronska-Kozubik (Red Mexx) So a team is still possible without the two. Plus more athletes/horses will still have time to get the MER in 2024, the end of the year requirement is to ensure there's at least three athletes with MER in the team event, which Poland has.
  20. Did a thorough review. Only Brazil does not have the MER for dressage. Assuming they do not compete then they and the Group F quota will get reallocated. Here is the reallocation table going into the final month. - 2738 - 2716 - 2590** - 2567 - 2505** Both Norway and Luxembourg only have two riders with MER. Regardless unless something crazy happens the quotas will likely go to Finland and Portugal.
  21. I believe the nations next in line are I haven't looked to see whether the other nations have MER, but along with Brazil, the Group F quota will be reallocated.
  22. Here's the Netherlands qualification standards Besides athletics/swimming (or injuries) most NOCs accept their quotas. Sweden usually has additional requirements, especially if the person that earned the quota is unfit to use it. Sailing Canada has declined quotas in the past as they don't want poor results impacting their funding.
