  1. Honestly, I think it's because combined is slowly being killed/phased off. The lack of World Cup events will do that.
  2. Final thoughts Good day for Canada, winning two medals. Short track went as well as short track can go while our men's team picked up its first win in curling.
  3. How does disqualification work? Obviously she would lose her points for the team, but does everyone move up a spot? If not, then Russia will have 54 points, one more than Canada, if so then Canada will get two extra points and have 55 points.
  4. Also since we are about a quarter of the way through let's see how Canada is doing. I predicted 24 medals and I broke them down into 6 groups... Freestyle Skiing - 1/5 Snowboarding - 2/5 Short Track - 1/4 Speed Skating - 1/4 Curling/Ice Hockey - 0/3 Others - 1/3 Nothing to worry so far. Losing mixed doubles curling leaves little room for error, hopefully our curling teams and men's ice hockey team has it in them. With figure skating looking to produce 0 medals, ski jumping has helped out the others category. Bobsled will be relied upon for the other two medals unless skeleton or one of the other sports produces another surprise.
  5. Possibly another quiet day, though short track has a few important races including the men's 1500m final. I'm also hoping for something in snowboard cross
  6. Final thoughts No medals, sadly the quality of freestyle big air was too high so we finished fourth. I'm happy with our performance in sports we aren't too strong in with two top 10 finishes in men's super-G and a top 5 performance in biathlon. It's also nice to see the women defeat the United States in ice hockey, but this was essentially a warm-up match.
  7. I always felt OTP should have at least a minimum amount of funding for each sport. Like 100k a year for a coach/equipment/flight tickets would help immensely while not really taking away from the other sports.
  8. A much quieter day relative to Day 3. Our best chance for a medal will be in women's freestyle big air, though I would give us a decent chance for a surprise in men's 1500m speed skating
  9. In my head canon, since the Hungarian was disqualified earlier in the race what was done to him had no barring on the race.
  10. Final Thoughts on Day 3 Things started our a bit disappointing, getting eliminated in curling hurt, but with the way they played it was bound to catch up to them. While a medal in the team competition in figure skating was very unlikely after Messing couldn't compete, the performance of the other skaters do show Canada will unlikely win a medal in this sport. Still hoping in ice dancing, but they'll need to really figure things out. Fourth place in alpine skating while disheartening, I'm still quite happy with Crawford's performance. After that things looked up, winning four medals, including our first gold medal and an historic bronze in ski jumping. We also finished the qualification round in the women's freestyle skiing big air in first place. I think short track speed skating is going to be a lot more messier than usual. Lots of drama in that sport.
  11. Sweden saved its Olympic hopes. China will be eliminated if Sweden/Denmark end with a winner in regular time.
  12. Sadly, Canada does not have any athletes in that event. It's the handball of the winter games.
  13. What a way to wake up, watching Canada winning bronze in ski jumping. Most likely our most shocking medal of the games.
  14. Medal chances in short track and snowboarding, hoping for some nice performances in freestyle big air. Of course we need a win in mixed curling if we want to reach the semis. Before the games I would feel confident against Italy, but now I'm quite nervous.
  15. Yeah, the curling loss to Australia really brought the day down for me. While I was hopeful, I didn't think Bloeman would medal, but he wasn't even in it. That makes me nervous about the team pursuit in the future. While 4th place always hurts, I'm quite happy for Blouin. Also for the figure skating for reaching the finals. I know people will say Messing missing out cost us a medal, but with the slight underperformance by our pair and ice dance team we would probably still be 4th.
  16. Canada couldn't win against the winless Australia and must now defeat the undefeated Italy...
  17. Assuming the order of these 5 nations remains unchanged in each event, should win by 3 points.
  18. One of the quieter days for Canada on the medal hunt. Our best chance will be in speed skating and even then it's far from guaranteed. Keep an eye out in men's downhill alpine skiing where we might surprise plus there is always hope in women's snowboard slopestyle and even women's moguls if you are really hoping. If we can score two more victories in curling there's a chance we can qualify to the semis early. In figure skating, Canada must defeat Georgia's skater which is easier said than done.
  19. With Kramer going first, will the Dutch media talk more or less about him during the rest of the event?
  20. In terms of medals I was predicting 2-3 so we did okay, though no gold in men's moguls is sad. I also had high hopes for short track, but the sport is very unpredictable. We are on another level in hockey, but it'll be interesting to see how we compete against the United States. That loss the Sweden in curling was bad, we can't really afford another loss without needing results to go our way and we still have to face a very hot Italy.
