  1. If I were the coach I probably won't. Like will Liendo be much faster than Gaziev/Acevedo after two races? Throw in the fact that he might be completely gassed and flop a potential medal chance and it would be too risky.
  2. No, ranking points are awarded in events beginning in November.
  3. Canada finished third in its group and will play in the round of 16. The good news is that the bottom half of the bracket seems to be a bit weaker overall, but the bad news is Mexico will be in our half.
  4. It's been a combination of Australia (and to a lesser extent Great Britain) focusing on the Commonwealth Games, Russia's ban and the general downward trend of China that has allowed the United States to dominate these championships.
  5. We ended up losing to Spain, but defeating the Netherlands to finish second in the group. Our round of 16 opponent will be against .
  6. Wog got fourth in the women's 200m breast. Wasn't expecting a medal from her, but still tough to see nonetheless
  7. Is Liendo really going to attempt to race both the men's 100m fly and 50m free final over a ~1 hour period tomorrow? He finished third in both races in the semis.
  8. Milak a cut above the rest going into the finals for the men's 100m fly
  9. There's just too many free and fly events to schedule them without overlap over eight days, especially when you also have IMs and relays to consider too.
  10. Preview: 2022 World Triathlon Mixed Relay Championships Sport: Triathlon Events: Mixed Relay Dates: June 24th to June 26th 2022 Location: Montreal Olympic Quotas: One team of 4 athletes Canada's Chances: < 1% Triathlon kicks off its qualification process with the 2022 World Championships. Only the winner (or second place if France wins) of the mixed team relay qualifies two men and two women to compete in the individual races and together in the mixed team event at the Olympics. Canada will be competing with Jeremy Briand, Charles Parquet and Tyler Mislawckuk (two of which will compete in the mixed relay) in the elite men's race while Dominika Jamnicky and Emy Legault will compete in the elite women's race. While I feel Canada has a decent chance to eventually qualify a mixed relay team (or two men and two women via the individual rankings), they are far from being the best team in the world at this moment and while home field advantage may improve their performance, it would likely take a series of mistakes from multiple nations for Canada to win the entire race and grab the sole quota. With that said, there will be many other opportunities for us to qualify in this event.
  11. Great day for Canada, four medals and two more finals appearances for tomorrow. Only relative downside was two 17th place finishes in the men's heats.
  12. It is, but due to the schedule 3/4 have already competed this session. Perhaps the adrenaline of our performance this session will push them for a medal.
  13. Yes, besides which has a bunch of host quotas.
  14. I'd say Mexico is the biggest favourite. Not only did they look good in their first two matches, but they will likely have an easier path to the final. The other quota is a bit more open. Honduras has looked best after two matches, but we'll see how they do against Costa Rica.
  15. No, only the highest ranked eligible nation in the mixed relay event qualifies.
  16. into the men's 200m breast final, chance for a medal
  17. Congrats to Romania! Also a medal in the men's category. Last time that happened was in 2015.
  18. Nice, I was afraid we may not win gold at these championships.
  19. The 3x3 World Cup is going on, Canada is competing with a women's team. We won our first two matches against Chile and Israel. Next up are the relatively harder opponents of Spain and the Netherlands. Even if we lose to them we should advance to the next round.
  20. Actually looking at the document again it looks like you can't compete with a second athlete in the omnium, but you can qualify an 8th athlete there. The event will just have fewer than 22 competitors then.
  21. Quite surprise in Wog's performance in the 200m breast. I have a feeling we may finish fourth in the 4x200m free relay, adding Penny (who will have just finished the 100m free semis) and Summer may not be enough to close in the gap.
  22. Some notable difference relative to 2020 BMX racing now has continental quotas Road cycling no longer allows individuals to qualify via the world rankings, also the nations ranking quotas have changed to match the updated quota distribution. Track cycling has the quota distribution for the long distance events differing. Also it looks like NOCs can have two athletes in the Omnium compete.
