  1. Hoping that can repeat in the 7s. Sadly will not be maintaining our record in the cycling TTs - all of our best riders go straight to the road now without serving time in the track squad, so the quality is not there anymore. Rowing will be another disappointment for us.
  2. Well, there’s no chance of the FIG investigating China or North Korea, so there’s not much reason for any other nation to continue funding or promoting women’s gymnastics programmes at this point.
  3. Good luck, but please do not panic. The odds are overwhelmingly in you & your sisters’ favour.
  4. Vuelta a Burgos is a confirmed start today! Although it’s in , the Burgos region has not been affected by the recent CV spike, since it is mostly rocks & herds of goats. Attracts a better field than usual. https://www.vueltaburgos.com/es/ TV coverage https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/more-sports/how-to-watch-the-vuelta-a-burgos-–-live-stream-tv-results/ar-BB17f0go
  5. A great achievement for a player from a country with very few areas flat enough for a full-size snooker table.
  6. Women’s triathlon should be a very rare gold medal chance for (That’s Bermuda, btw). First since 1972, I think. Also strong chances for & .
  7. You don’t know many Australians, do you?
  8. I’m guessing there’s no active minor leagues going on, are there?
  9. it’s not just individual players: some European nations seem to buy in the complete package: individuals, doubles pairings & even coaches. But I’m not an expert, so you can tell me I’m wrong.
  10. Afraid so. Being tough is the only you are getting out of Magadan.
  11. New Season already hitting problems. https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2020/07/baseball-season-already-in-jeopardy.php
  12. But won’t Qatar have a one person automatic spot?
  13. Yeah, that’s why the map’s misleading. They already understand figure skating. They’ve got to research bobsleigh.
  14. You might be right. Perhaps the Olympics will have to move to a model other Multination, Multi-Sport events have where you have a fixed core group of events that appear in every Games, then a flexible fringe group that appear at different hosts depending on facilities, local popularity etc.
  15. What’s preventing most sports now is the complexity of travel arrangements between different nations. So for a non-professional international sport like gymnastics, I don’t think we’ll see many events this year.
  16. Team Archery is always good. The fact that Korea always gets Gold makes everyone else more relaxed. Mountain bike can be a bit dull with the winner obvious after one lap. Men’s triathlon will be wide open after the Brownlee Brothers dominance. I’m tipping . Table tennis mixed doubles will be China Chinese mercenaries playing for someone else Chinese mercenaries playing for someone else
  17. Am now back in from my exile. Sadly, after a very liberal few weeks things were getting out of hand again with rising numbers so they started a big crack-down at the weekend. Luckily I was able to put a bit of a gap in the trappistenbier lake before I left. Also on-line race coverage from GCN racing starts again at the beginning of August. You may remember they were covering a lot of races just before lockdown, sometimes sharing coverage with ES, but also covering lots of other races ES either did not have or did without commentary. The bad news is that they have now gone to a subscription based app for their main content, not on YouTube any more.
  18. Was a bit sceptical about the format at first....,..but actually produced some very solid racing all the way to the wire. MY a brave 5th.....but still stuck on bottom equal! Only that precious bronze keeping us off the absolute bottom.
  19. Problem with including natural track is that they are asking for potentially four extra medals, which I don’t see the IOC accepting at all. It’s the equivalent of a whole new sport.
  20. Can you imagine what the four hour speeches were like? People would be volunteering for the Gulag.
  21. Great Cold War memories. I particularly love the bit with Brezhnev giving the official welcome. He literally cannot say six words without reading them out & making a mistake.
  22. You just gave to wait 6 years.
  23. awesome final, any one of four could have one. MY another disaster straight out of the blocks. Don’t know how many times this year poor starts have destroyed us.
  24. just a ranking event to assign a number probably. No WC form to go on, and with a narrow track there’ll be a small advantage to being at the front.
  25. Should have played safe & chosen the Belgian Riviera like me. Was out today on the Knokke-De Panne tram, very busy.
