  1. Yes, a historic moment of Greece finally failing to qualify
  2. My personal qualifiers (no particular order):
  3. Jevgenij Shuklin Canoeing Sprint., silver in C1-200 m in London 2012. Shuklin officialy lost a chance to go to Olympics by finishing third in Trakai Open today. The last two remaining contendars for C1-200m quota is Henrikas Žustautas (99 % chance for him) and Vadim Korobov who surprisingly finished 2nd. Source
  4. Lithuanian selection for Women's marathon and Women's 20km racewalk is over: Women's marathon team: Rasa Drazdauskaitė, Diana Lobačevskė and Vaida Žūsinaitė (V.Žūsinaitė won a spot in her last marathon run in Germany surprisingly defeating M.Juodeškaitė for the last quota) Women's 20km racewalk team: Neringa Aidietytė, Brigita Virbalytė-Dimišienė and Živilė Vaiciukevičiūtė (Ž,Vaiciukevičiūtė won a spot last night in China where she surprised with victory over 4 times Olympian Kristina Saltanovič and her sister Monika Vaiciukevičiūtė)
  5. The European Aquatics Championships starts this Monday. Lithuanian team: DIVING Indrė Marija Girdauskaitė, Women's Springboard Genevieve Akvilė Green Angerame, Women's Springboard and Platform SWIMMING Rūta Meilutytė, Women's 100m Breaststroke (due broken arm last fall she focused only on one event) Ugnė Mažutaitytė, Women's 50m, 100m and 200m Backstroke Raminta Dvariškytė, Women's 200m Breaststroke Giedrius Titenis, Men's 50m and 100m Breaststroke, 4x100m Medley Relay Simonas Bilis, Men's 50m and 100m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, 4x100m Freestyle Relay, 4x100m Medley Relay Danas Rapšys, Men's 100m and 200m Backstroke, 200m Freestyle, 4x100m Freestyle Relay, 4x100m Medley Relay Andrius Šidlauskas, Men's 100m and 200m Breaststroke Povilas Strazdas, Men's 100m and 200m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly, 200m Individual Medley, 4x100m Freestyle Relay Deividas Margevičius, Men's 50m, 100m and 200m Butterfly, 4x100m Medley Relay Mindaugas Sadauskas, Men's 50m and 100m Freestyle, 4x100m Freestyle Relay Tadas Duškinas, Men's 50m and 100m Butterfly, 50m and 100m Freestyle Gytis Stankevičius, Men's 50m, 100m and 200m Backstroke Basically some of already qualified swimmers sacrificing some events so other Lithuanian swimmer would have a chance to reach OQT in same event (Titenis in 200m Breaststroke. Rapšys in 200m IM). Basically coaches expect for that top 4 time in 4x100m freestyle relay world rankings, OQT from Mažutaitytė, Šidlauskas and Margevičius and maybe OQT or close results from Strazdas and Sadauskas.
  6. Taekwondo wildcard for Honduras seems confusing to me. There are way more countries that have smaller teams and has athletes who won even a single match in qualification period.
  7. Oh no... Domikaitytė lost at the last second... I thought we will finally have a female wrestler in Rio.
  8. Both Žustautas and Shuklin is still fighting for the spot. There are 3 events set where both of the athletes will compete in order to determinate the lucky one. The first match is actually going to be this weekend in Trakai during the Lithuanian Open Cup. The fight is so intense that there is official contest held by Canoeing Federation and popular media group 15min of people guessing the outcome and winning prizes. The 1st fight will be live tomorrow here
  9. Sadly all Lithuanian athletes failed. Oh well...
  10. Lithuanian modern pentathlete Donata Rimšaitė will represent Russia.
  11. Yay, 4th boat for Lithuania. And a well deserved quota for experienced crew,
  12. This was the tactics of federation as they had "even" competitors in some of the weights so some of them competed in Serbia last week and others compete here in Mongolia. Mizgaitis might get back in 2nd WOQT.
  13. Finally something for I was convinced that we won't qualify anybody, which would be sad considering Olympic medals in wresting in 2008 and 2012.
  14. Men's Individual Qualification standings after European Championships 3rd -94kg 4th -56kg 5th -105kg 6th +105kg 6th -62kg (likely to qualify via Asian championships) 10th -69kg ---- 10th -56kg(likely to qualify via Asian championships) 11th -69kg(likely to qualify via Asian championships) 14th -56kg
  15. No we won't Slovakia will earn some points in +105kg even with the last place and will push Lithuania to 8th place.
  16. Aurimas Didžbalis is 3rd in Men's 94kg
  17. I see. Yet men's qualification looks horrible to me: all will have very weak weightlifters in Rio, just because they spammed the entry list, while some countries (f.e. 3xBaltics ) did not even tried as they secured the individual ranking quotas anyway. This system has it own flaws. At least we managed to avoid qualifying who's men lifters perform weaker than top ladies in their competition.
  18. But is it worth it for GB to have a weightlifter in Rio that might finish last? It is not Judo where there is still possibility for bronze for everybody,
  19. I mean NBA is also commercialised and don't share it's profit with FIBA Americas, why USA not banned? If need for money is bigger than sport itself for FIBA - basketball should be dropped from Olympics (same what it was with baseball) or get reduced to U23 (same what it was with football).
  20. LOL. Other reports also mentions And that is how European basketball died because of money...
  21. All teams disqualified from Eurobasket 2017: This means that 3 out of 4 semifinalist from 2015 will not be competing. Good luck Iceland and Monaco. Go for your first title...
  22. FIBA disqualified from Eurobasket 2017 since 2 Lithuanian clubs chose to compete in Euroleague and EuroCup
