  3. I'm counting on Italy's medal in the men`s 8 tomorrow. Without it, I won't be satisfied even with that one gold. The gold was practically guaranteed, considering our lineup and the lineups of our rivals, but we should have won at least one medal in several other events. Unfortunately, the lack of a lightweight sector significantly limits us, and our women's team is simply very weak, except for the one 2, who finished 4th yesterday. And unfortunately, nothing has changed in this regard for several years. Our coaches are working to achieve success in half of Europe, but yet we are weak, with only three Olympic category finals here it`s a poor result. After a successful cycle before Tokyo 2020 and the OG 2020/2021, I was hoping for further development, but unfortunately, we are stagnating. Okay, we put our all best men to M4X and finally won gold, but where's the rest of the team? Where are the women's medals?
  4. Bronze would be a miracle, but I don't think so. Our runners are too inconsistent and injury-prone. It would take two or three Pellegrinos to win a medal, but obviously not gold. For women, nothing is even possible. The chances are better in biathlon these times. Overall, I'm pessimistic: we will probably win a lot of medals, but not many golds. Brignone will probably drop out, Goggia could fall at any moment, knowing her history, short track is a lottery and in speed skating the young Czech is already starting to dominate on long distances. We can't prepare very good for our home Olympics – it was the same in 2006. France could do it in 2024, the UK in 2012, China in 2008, etc. France will do the same in the winter OG in 2030, revitalizing its entire winter sport, just like it did in summer recently. Macron is a weak president, but in terms of sports development he is a great choice - I would like to have someone like him in my office
  5. Era just before the coming of first Rezende
  6. I didn't watch that match, as I was still living in Poland and I don't think there was even a broadcast, or even if there was, I probably didn't even know(Poland was weak in the sport back then, and interest was low and I was only 9 years old ). In 1998, I remember the World Champ. final: Italy vs. Yugoslavia- the broadcast was replay several hours later, but there was no internet, so I didn't know the result – only teletext was available back then. It was the last tournament in the old 15-point system and points were scored only on your own serve (does`t libero position etc.).
  8. But they lost here to Czechia 1-9... Czechia lost to Germany... We won to Germany... So, we have a big chance against Czechia? Czechia and Germany and Spain looks like a similar level teams, right? Czechia consist on local players?
  9. In Italy we only became a NT team for Top 10-12 on the world in this sport thanks to players from the USA and Canada of Italian descent – in the early 1990s. In that time our league had 8-10 clubs? Currently, there are maybe 2-3 professional clubs, which play in a international league with Austrian teams, because there's no point in creating a league for 2-3 good clubs
  10. It started with my question to Kosice, that hockey would still be number 1 team sport in their country if football was at a higher level there: for example, at the level of the Netherlands or Belgium.
  11. Esp- UK 7-0Spain is truly a phenomenon in team sports in the 21st century...
  12. Ok, but for example, ask someone from Brazil what they know about hockey... The same goes for Iran, Egypt, Argentina etc., and everyone knows football...
  13. Hockey, in my opinion, is too elitist to be a mass sport: you need a ice rink, equipment, a stick, a puck, etc. The Southern Hemisphere (Africa, Souyh America, Australia) has no interest in this sport at all, unlike football or even tennis. In theory, more countries seriously play volleyball than ice hockey? Does anyone know the statistics on this?
Quindi, Brignone probabilmente rimarrà senza medaglia d'oro olimpica https://www.gazzetta.it/olimpiadi-invernali/24-09-2025/brignone-il-ginocchio-non-tornera-come-prima-i-giochi-potrei-non-farcela.shtml
  15. But in our first squad we probably will win easy?
  16. Why do you prefer hockey to volleyball? For me hockey it`s OK, but the hockey puck is hard to see in tv. Do you think that if Slovakia were a football powerhouse, it would be more popular there than ice hockey?
  17. 2012: Rus-Bra? Muserski was doping in that time, so I don't know why Brazil didn't get the gold medal after all these years? Does anyone know anything?
  18. That's why the women's NT has been much more popular since last year, than man NT, because they were the first to do this About our men teams in OG: - 1996: I remember it a foggy memories, but it was a huge lost and trauma – we were the big favorites there, - 2000: bronze, we lost to then-outstanding Yugoslavia, who, in that 1/2 final, had fully realized their great potential against us (previously our matches were even, but Italy always won, foe example, the 1998 World Championship final). Later Yugoslavia outclassing Russia 3-0 in the final, so it was a premature final against them, - 2004: silver: we played against Brazil in the final, but it was their time and we had any chance, - 2008: 4th place- the end of the former powerhouse that barely qualified for this OG: a dramatic match in Tokyo against Japan in the qualifying round in May 2008, - 2012: bronze, which was a great success because we had much less potential at that time, - 2016: silver and another defeat to Brazil in the final in Rio. Back then, Zaitsev and Juantorena were leading Italian Team and it was a big disappointment, because it wasn't the great Brazil of 2004 anymore, even though they were playing at home, - 2020/2021: 6th place and our worst performance of the 21st century. The twilight of Zaitsev, Juantorena and Blengini on the coaching bench- current coach of Bulgaria, - 2024: 4th place, but achieved with a very young team. We didn't arrive in form for the key matches of the tournament: two big 0-3 losses to France and the USA+ a dramatic quarterfinal winning match against Japan. It was disappointing, but also a feeling that`s a just beginning for us.
  19. Our women's team was going only for gold, and any other result would have been a huge dissapointing. However, I think the men's team should respect every medal: including the silver from the VNL and the possible bronze here. We weren't the main favorites here and on paper we should have been eliminated in the quarterfinals by France, so now every match we win is in our favor.
  20. In all 2002 season, Brazil still had difficult matches against Russia (they lost the World League final in Bello Horizonte? and in the 2002 World Champ final against them: they won only 3-2), but from the following year they reached a another- higher level. It happens different in various cases. For example, as an Italian, I'm more critical of my own athletes than of other athletes. Although I'm too young to remember the golden generation of Italians in the 1990s: I only remember the gold medal at the 1998 World Championships and the painful defeat to Yugoslavia in the semi-finals of the OG in Sydney.
  21. Who do you think is stronger: Brazil from 2004-2006 or current Poland?
  22. What does this mean? Do you think, that Italy only wants gold and then bronze doesn't matter to them? However, I think that the Italy Women's NT is too weak in OH position, expect Sylla, to be a 100% favorite in every match and this was evident in the semi-finals and final of the World Championships. With Pietrini in good form, it would probably 2x 3-0/3-1 wins, but not with Nervini or Giovannini, or with Fahr and Orro injured.
  23. So, Phelps was recently wrote that we would play so poorly here, but it's not that bad... I only hope that we don't finish in 4th place, because I'm tired of us finishing 4th in most of sports
  24. So what's the balance of power here? Ned, Czech Republic, Spain/Italy?
  25. I know Italy and Poland and I can say that in both of these countries, hardly anyone follows baseball and if they know it, it's probably from some fabular films from the USA
