  1. What I mean is, if the intercontinental tournament would be, instead of Mexico, Chile, Tunisia and Algeria, let's say... Australia, Venezuela, Canada and Tunisia it wouldn't be that bad, right?
  2. It's obvious that the intercontinental qualifier has an ideologic motive behind: to increase non-european representation at the olympics. I don't think that's bad per se, but I see two fatal flaws in it: a) that they send the 3rd, not the 2nd teams from N. & S. America b) that Asia has no access to it whatsoever. Asian teams have only two chances for olympics (world cup and asian qualifier) while every other continent is having 3.
  3. This Canadian team really sucks at dealing with pressure in every important game the same happens to them.
  4. Mexico won 3-1. Now with 2 sets vs Tunisia they go to olympics.
  5. Well, Chile won a set against Brazil A team last year and I have seen both Chile and Tunisia play vs Argentina recently and to me Chile was stronger. They have two good attacking players (Gevert and Bonacic) that neither Tunisia or Mexico seem to have. Still, Mexico is favorite at home. Edit: Though Gevert seems to be injured for this tournament.
  6. Well, France can't affect the outcome of the qualifiers. The focus should be in Poland instead. I think Iran will beat them easily today, and I wonder what they will do vs Australia tomorrow. That's the most important match of all.

  8. Boring and dull opening ceremony as expected. I'll state it now before the tournament starts: the final will be played by two out of Uruguay, Mexico and Argentina. And Argentina won't win it.
  9. I think there's a lot of truth in what you say, and it is probably like you say but... still, 0 footballers tested positive in Beijing and London. In fact, 0 team sport athletes tested positive in both games. Doesn't mean of course that they don't dope in the 3 years and 11 months in middle, but give me that and not the joke we see in weightlifting.
  10. I think most of the world is doped in every sport, but at least those which aren't "mark sports" aren't all about physical condition (there's tactics, styles, etc). In weightlifting, athletics, etc it's all about who is the strongest/fastest and that is 100% up to how much and how sophisticated they dope. Thanks god my country sucks in all of them otherwise I wouldn't enjoy success to the fullest.
  11. And this is why I'll never be a fan of athletics, swimming, cycling or weightlifting... 50% of the results are a joke and big farce. I can't take them seriously.
  12. People, remember that Copa America starts today. The first match is 01:30 GMT (already June 4th in Europe), so you have a little more than 8 hours remaining to post or edit your predictions.
  13. ^ totally, no point watching the final. Djokobot can't be taken down by that package. And what a fluke Thiem, just like every under 26 (!) player in ATP. So many years and still the same people dominating, unprecedented in Tennis.
  14. And it's Martin Carrizo, swimmer, who qualified for 1500m Freestyle Men's. He was positive of EPO in the Maria Lenk trophy held in April. uff, I thought it was going to be some high profile athlete. It still sucks, of course.
  15. Apparently a press conference will take place at our NOC in a few minutes, some journalists say there's a rumor of a doping case. Don't think it's related to this re-testing though. Will keep you informed.
  16. No, Softball is a sport of its own, very similar to baseball, but with some differences (the size of the ball, the pitching technique). There is both men's softball and women's baseball, but they have never been in the olympics.
  17. The main issue is whether to give a direct quota to Europe or not, with Africa is not even a debatable... no.
  18. Both of you, moderate your language and aggresiveness or your next posts will disappear from this thread.
  19. I asked some journalists on twitter and none of them gave me an answer and I don't think they understand the motive very well themselves. The only source of this is Rossi himself, who seems to be very sure of it.
  20. I don't see any problem with any of those sports being added, my only issue is the limited quota all of them will have. Especially the case of karate and climbing. I just hope that for Baseball and Softball they don't give continental quotas. Just make a world qualifier and have the best 5 teams qualify (maybe the world baseball classic?).
  21. Carroll did well, but in the last set he couldn't make a serve without fault to save his life...
  22. We call them "questions" but they don't have to be phrased as such if you don't wish so just affirmative sentences is enough as long as they are propositions with two possible truth values (true or false, in this case, "yes" or "no"). Simple bivalent logic
  23. One more thing: There are two categories you guys can make suggestions for. First, there is the "Sporting Rivalries and Medals" category, which covers general aspects of the Games and/or rivalries between specific countries. Second, there are the Individual sports categories, which are bets about each sport in particular.
