  1. Well, that's good news; however, in other competitions organized by FINA, they have to compete as independent athletes, like this weekend in Dubai.
  2. Well I'm glad for Argentina, but this results are a complete disaster for Mexico, If I'm not mistaken we only have a couple of boxers in semifinals.
  3. From Mexico, Mariana Avitia (Bronze, Women's Individual Archery) didn't make it to the team this time. Also Laura Sanchez (Bronze, Women's 3m Springboard) chances are slim, as it will depend if FINA chooses to award the places obtained at World Cup to the divers that obtained them (as independent competitors) or will leave it to the Mexican Federation to decide which divers to send.
  4. Just a little reminder... in this discipline quotas are awarded to NOC's, not to the athletes, so we will have to wait until each NOC confirms the name of the athletes.
  5. Draws for the American Qualification Tournament, as well as the schedule for the first two days are out.
  6. There's still hope for Crismanich, if there are no countries in that division that can apply for the Wild Card. Back in 2008, Iridia Salazar (MEX) failed to qualify to the Games, and even when Mexico ahd another 3 places, WTF voted to award her the wild card based on her previous results (she had been world champion and medalist in Athens), but in the end, she and the Federation decided to return the place.
  7. Niger already qualified in men's Taekwondo 80+kg
  8. Partial Results after Round One Competition returns at 14:00 (GMT -6) with quarterfinals
  9. You're right, I forget she now competes for another country... Anyway, Yvette Yong is also a good competitor a should secure the place.
  10. Draws for Day One of Pan American qualification tournament can be found on this link. I think that in W 49kg Yvette Gonda is almost guaranteed to be in Rio and the other ticket can go to either Venezuela or Peru... In Women's 57kg Carstens (PAN) and Martinez (VEN) will battle to reach the final, while the girl from Cuba should not pose a threat to Doris Patino from Colombia. In Men's 80kg, USA and Cuba are fighting for one of the spots in one half on the draw and in the other Olympic champion Crismanich should grab his ticket. In Men's 80+kg, Cuba and Venezuela are my favourites in one of the halves, while in the other I could see another close contest between USA and Canada, with the latter probably gaining the spot.
  11. You just jumped a little ahead of me with the National selection results. Anyway, in my opinion the best athletes were selected, now let's see if Maria can win her third consecutive medal and the men return to the podium.
  12. As I was going through the rankings, I noted that Great Britain has an exceded maximum quota in the women's events. According to Rule B.2 "Maximum number of athletes", any NOC may have a maximum 8 men and 7 women. It also states that one additional place can be granted by gender only if that additional competitor comes from other cycling disciplines.
  13. I agree there's been few days to make a judgement right now, but I like some things about the new forums. However, I agree that at some point we shall start returning to post results, because it was part of the site good things, that many users and visitors could count on finding most results in here as soon as they were out.
  14. A mess of a tournament for Mexico. One place is a small consolation price, as they have no chance of making it through world qualifications.
  15. And once again Mexican atheltes get screwed by bad draws. It seems we won't have any wrestlers in Rio.
  16. I also count four available spots, unless South Africa quota is still being counted by FINA.
  17. The entry lists for the Third Olympic qualification tournament can be found on the following link: Pan American Qualification Tournament Entries If these are definite, then Honduras and Puerto Rico will secure another quota in the heaviest women's division. The tournament will be hosted in Mexico next week, but as the country has secured maximum number of athletes, they will use it to select the athletes that will go to Rio in three categories (excepting women's -49)
  18. Congratulations to Canada for achieving maximum quotas What an improvement by the host country in this discipline USA on the other hand Meanwhile for tomorrow's draws, luck escaped Mexican wrestlers once again It seems we won't have any wrestlers in Rio
  19. Tomorrow Ignacio Prado will start his quest to secure his quota in the men's Omnium, after winning a silver in Men's scratch. He will be the first Mexican man to compete in Olympic Track Cycling in 24 years, if I'm not mistaken
  20. Tomorrow Mexico's best chance is in the -69 and -75 categories
  21. According to qualification rules, unused continental quotas are reallocated to the qualification tournament. If I interpret rules correctly, the best 11 pairs after today are granted a spot in the Olympics, while the rest of the field will have to compete on Sunday for reallocated quotas
  22. You're leaving Italy out of the qualification spots
  23. Hello everyone! Glad to be back on the forums. For those of you who were not following the Facebook group, I leave you a link to the results of the 2016 World Cup, which served as the last Olympic qualification event for this discipline. Results book According to qualification rules, only those athletes qualifying for the semifinals in this competition achieved a place for their NOC in the corresponding event. For a summary of quotas obtained so far you can check Wikipedia's page on the subject. The current situation there are 7 spots left in men's springboard, 9 in men's platform, 12 in women's springboard and 10 in women's plaform. Keep in mind that assignation of those will only be confirmed by FINA after all qualified NOC's qualified confirm the definitive number of athletes that will take part, respecting the maximum number of 68 athletes per gender rule.
