  1. In Mexico, the most common names were Juan and José (for boys) and Maria (for girls), both often followed by Guadalupe ("Lupe" or Lupita") as middle name (Think for example about the case about Lupita Nyongo, born in Mexico City) Now according to the National Population Registry's Bureau, these were the top 10 names last year: Girls: Sofía, Camila, Valentina, Isabella, Ximena, Natalia, Mía, María Fernanda, Nicole, Melanie. Boys: José Luis, Miguel Ángel, José Francisco, Jesús Antonio, Alejandro, Juan Carlos, Ricardo, Daniel, Fernando, Jorge. Yet, I read that in the state of Nuevo León (one of the largest in the country) tthere's been a grow from 1990 until now were Britany, Kevin and Brayan (yes, that's how they usually spell it in Mexico ) About the most common surname, I'm pretty sure it's Hernández, which means son of Hernán or Hernando, itself a variation of Fernando (Ferdinand)
  2. Alejandra ZAVALA wins the 10m Air Pistol World Cup final for the second time (first in 2014) after a shoot-off against Korakaki of Greece
  3. New world record in Women's 500 Time Trial: 32"268 Jessica SALAZAR
  4. They shall call this the "Gasquet exception"
  5. According to a note I found in Mexico's Olympic Committee, UCI is interested in introducing Women's Madison, starting next season of the World Cup. Plus, they would alter Omnium to only have 4 events: individual pursuit, time trial, flying lap and a new version of points race/race in which the winner of each lap will win one point andfive points for every lap gained on the group. Other proposals to be considered during UCI's congress in Doha this week, are slight modifications in the rules for Keirin and Team Pursuit.
  6. As I expected, the Mexican men's team blew their chances by losing to Barbados and now the ticket for next round is almost granted for USA. On the women's side, only a true catastrophe could prevent the women from advancing to Round 2.
  7. Mexico's Serpents just won 32-3 over Guyana, winning Round 1A of the American qualification for 2019 Rugby World Cup. I'm glad because it's the first time they won the NACRA zone Championship and likely, the first time they will be in top 50 in the world rankings.
  8. I actually think the contrary, Mexican teams even when in home soil can't handle pressure well, but I don't loose hope.
  9. Well I must admit they sold their act, so no problem if you liked them.
  10. You were probably a baby or weren't even born, but this song is part of Santana's 1999 album Supernatural, so it is widely credited as its song.. Yes it was written by Thomas, who reached Carlos Santana to perform the song, and the later choose Thomas himself to sing it.
  11. Never, ever, ever... I'm deeply ashamed and offer apologies for a lame act such as RBD
  12. MEXICO Santana ft. Rob Thomas - Smooth Lyrics Man, it's a hot one Like seven inches from the midday sun Well, I hear you whispering in the words, to melt everyone But you stay so cool My "muñequita", my Spanish Harlem Mona Lisa You're my reason for reason The step in my groove And if you said this life ain't good enough I would give my world to lift you up I could change my life to better suit your mood 'Cause you're so smooth And it's just like the ocean under the moon And it's the same as the emotion that I get from you You've got the kind of lovin' that can be so smooth, yeah Give me your heart, make it real or else forget about it But I'll tell you one thing If you would leave it'd be a crying shame In every breath and every word I hear your name calling me out Out from the "barrio" You hear my rhythm on the radio You feel the turning of the world, so soft and slow Turning you 'round, and 'round And if you said this life ain't good enough I would give my world to lift you up I could change my life to better suit your mood 'Cause you're so smooth And it's just like the ocean under the moon And it's the same as the emotion that I get from you You've got the kind of lovin' that can be so smooth, yeah Give me your heart, make it real or else forget about it And it's just like the ocean under the moon And it's the same as the emotion that I get from you You've got the kind of lovin' that can be so smooth, yeah Give me your heart, make it real or else forget about it Or else forget about it Or else forget about it Give me your heart, make it real Let's don't forget about it Let's forget about it Let's forget about it Give me your heard, make it real Or else forget about it.
  13. And Argentina is in the final v Croatia
  14. Well, lots of bronze medals in the last couple of days for Mexico. Not bad, but I think is time to see some silver and of course, gold
  15. Another medal for Mexico, this time a bronze in swimming
  16. And another gold for Mexico, most probably the last one for the day.
  17. Two more medals for Mexico, a silver in javelin throw and a gold in judo I hope they can earn another one tomorrow
  18. Well, of course Vinicius... he just looks so happy and confident with it, no pose, no effort, pure & natural glamour
  19. Well, his Spanish is fine; I don't mind his accent, because it's really difficult to speak another language without an accent, it requires not only hability but also to live among native speakers to actually "talk" like them. So @LDOG don't you dare judge his accent You know as well as me that we both also would "butcher" the language according to Spaniards. Also, his italian and french sounded rather good, or at least a better than me when I try to speak in those languages
  20. I would vote to dissapear the Eights... I know it's an historical boat, but come on, there are less than 10 countries that have active crews in them, not to count that because of the size it will hard to see more than eight boats featured in the Olympics.
