Rest of the tickets will be determined through repechage (R6 right now), between By my count, that gives each surfer an 4/9 chance at an Olympic quota (there are some complications to the mix for surfers from Spain as they can only secure two quotas)

I don’t think we’re as weak in surfing as you would claim us to be. We’ve had excellent (by our standards) performances at the last two ISA Surf Games. Her results haven’t been great, but they haven’t been bad either. I don’t agree with you calling Erin’s silver medal a fluke (?) though, she’s widely regarded as the next big surfing sensation.

Event to forget about for We had a good chance at a second women’s Olympic quota, with two surfers having chances (Brooks was a medal contender which makes me even more pissed), but neither one could qualify. Only one that’s still in is Sanoa, but she’s already qualified for Paris. And while we do have two men still in, there’s only six quotas available so I don’t see us winning one.

So I’ve done some calculations: In women’s shortboard (8 quotas), Mathea Olin has a 8/29 (27.58%) chance of qualifying for Paris now (repechage 4) as US/Australia/France aren’t eligible for them, and Peru/Spain/Brazil/Japan/Germany can only grab a maximum of two quotas each (All three surfers from each NOC are still alive, including Tatiana Weston-Webb who has already qualified) In men’s shortboard (6 quotas), Cody Young/Levi Young each have a 6/32 (18.75%) chance of qualifying for Paris now. United States, Brazil and Australia aren’t eligible for them, while France, Spain, Germany and Costa Rica can only grab a maximum of two quotas each. Watch us not win a single quota now

I was 4 years old during Vancouver 2010, the men’s hockey gold medal match was my first ever time watching the Olympics. Obviously I wouldn’t remember anything about it, so since then I’ve watched it back Great match. In terms of events that I actually remember watching live though, you’d have to fast forward six years to Rio 2016.

Erin Brooks will not qualify for Paris, after bowing out during repechage 3 at the ISA Surf Games. What a disappointing result, she was expected to potentially contend for an Olympic medal.
