  1. ATHLETICS Men's Marathon Women's 10000m Women's Marathon CYCLING - MOUNTAIN BIKE CYCLING - ROAD SWIMMING
  2. According to multiple news reports only 55 of 366 British athletes will attend the Opening Ceremony parade of nations, citing winning Olympic gold as more important than attending the opening ceremony. Also, the opening ceremony stadium is not located near the athletes village, so a long journey there and back coupled with lots of waiting around and competition over the next couple of days is a reasonable excuse for not attending. I expect that lots of athletes from many nations will skip the opening ceremony on Friday.
  3. BBC Olympic Trailers over the years! Beijing 2008 Vancouver 2010 London 2012 Sochi 2014 Rio 2016
  4. The BBC pull out a spectacular Olympic trailer year after year, I can still remember the monkey from Beijing, the eskimo from Vancouver, the stirring music from London and the game of thrones style drama of Sochi.
  5. I am proud that there are no financial incentives for Team GB. But to think winning an Olympic gold doesn't bring economic reward for British athletes is foolish! A good Olympic performance will garuntee generous funding for an athlete for the next Olympic cycles, plus widespread media coverage and potential sponsorship is the second hand financial reward. Most Olympic medal winners also get some form of award, either MBE, OBE or CBE, some are even knighted (Sir Chris Hoy, Lord Coe, Sir Bradley Wiggins). So there are lots of rewards apart from a cash payout fir successful athletes.

  10. However, if this appeal is successful the IOC will have effectively done nothing, so they may consider increasing the punishment to a ban
  11. This rule about not being allowed to enter an athlete into the Olympics who has previously served a doping ban should be extended to all nations, then cheats could not compete on the biggest stage of all
  12. @Benolympique @hckosice For team sizes guides are not counted as they do not have a disability these include: Guides in T11-13 Visually impaired athletics Guides in tandem cycling Goalkeepers in Football 5 a side Coxs in Rowing Fours
  13. A decision to ban Russian track and field athletes from Rio 2016 over the country's alleged state-sponsored doping regime has been upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport
  14. After this report no Russian athletes should compete at the Rio Olympics, it is a disgrace what they have done to blatantly hide cheating athletes positive samples in order to show Russia as a sport superpower. If it was up to me Russia would not be allowed to compete at the next 3 Olympics until they majorly change their culture of doping
  15. Russia has been disqualified for doping so the quota has been reallocated to New Zealand
  16. Table Tennis Reallocation: Women's Singles Class 10: -1 +1
  17. Paracanoe Reallocations: Men's KL2 200m: -1 +1 Women's KL1 200m: -1 +1 Women's KL2 200m: -1 -1 +1 +1
  18. Does a qualifying marathon time have to be run on an IAAF certified marathon course?
  19. Rugby has more than enough money in the UK to fund itself, the sad thing is that many sports in the UK like Table Tennis, Volleyball, wrestling, handball, water polo, synchronised swimming and basketball get no funding, so future growth in these sports is more difficult. A lot of money is invested in sport and the government has committed to increasing sport funding by over 20% in the road to Tokyo 2020. Hopefully this money can bring with it success this summer, otherwise lots of sports can expect their budgets to be slashed significantly.
