Just noticed that in the OQ document the qualification period is from July 2nd 2018 to June 31st 2020 :mumble:

it's wrong...

the ranking will be closed on April, 6th 2020

then there will be the world qualification tournament in May (15th-17th) 2020 and some places will be granted also through the Continental Champs of that year (dates TBD in all Continents)...

I know, but if you check the ending timetable you will see a generic qualification period considered as ending on this strange day :d

it's still not really updated...we already had Berlin's K1PL and Santiago's K1SA and they didn't add those results yet...

therefore, those rankings are not reliable at all...

are they crazy? they gave 930 points to the winner of a continental championship and have those who won a K1PL stage at the 20th place or even worse...

to me, there's something strange (and in any case out of this world) in those rankings...

I still think that at the end they should look more close to the actual full world ranking and right now they don't mean anything...:mumble:

we'll see when all continents will have their continental scores and when more global events will be completed...

I think Berlin and Santiago don't count 100%

1) The Olympic standings are useless now because African and Asian athletes will lose all the points gained in their Continental Championships. Only the last Continental Championship held during the qualification period will count.

2) In this document https://wkf.net/pdf/FAQ_Olympics_may2018.pdf there's also the Olympic competition system, similar to the one used at the YOG, with two bronze medals awarded.

What will be the competition system applicable in Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020? The system used in the Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020 is a Round Robin system. The elimination round consists of two pools (A and B) of five contestants. All contestants compete against each other within each pool (a total of ten bouts in each pool). The contestants are ranked according to the results achieved in their pool (number of points and scores). A contestant winning a bout will be awarded two points. The contestants will be awarded one point each in case of a tied bout. The top two contestants from each pool qualify to the semifinals. Semifinals and Final: The winner of pool A competes against the second ranked contestant from pool B, and the winner of pool B competes against the second ranked contestant from pool A. The semifinal winners compete for the gold and silver medals. The semifinal losers are both awarded bronze medals.

Will the pools in the Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020 be seeded? Yes, the pools will be seeded as follows: - Pool A → 1 st and 4th positioned athlete as per Olympic Standing of 06.04.2020 - Pool B → 2 nd and 3rd positioned athlete as per Olympic Standing of 06.04.2020

    • Alpine skiing also we have a lot of problems: the men's team is very weak and has been winning a few podiums a season for several years and the our best skier- Dominik Paris is 35. We still have a strong women's team but 3 of the 4 leaders are over 30 (Goggia, Brignone, Curtoni) and Bassino is 28. Another 2 years and we will have the same problem as the men's. There is basically no cross-country skiing without Pellegrino for many years, biathlon is based on 2 individuals with one of them has a 35 years. Vittozzi's injury was enough and we haven`t a single podium this season after 3 stages of the World Cup. As for 1 year to the home games the situation isn`t optimistic.
    • Hail to the Reds... Commanders. First time since 1991 Washington QB has thrown 5 TD passes in a game (which isn't all that improbable in the modern game alas Dan Snyder...)
    • Italy is much better in alpine skiing, in The end all Nations have a Limited Talent Pool. Norway is far better than Sweden/Finland in Cross-Country skiing, alpine skiing and Biathlon, but Sweden/Finland are far better in ice Hockey.  Great Britain wins far more medals than Germany At Summer olympics, but GB is also inexistant in Winter Sports and Most popular Team Sports (Volleyball, Handball, Basketball, Ich Hockey).
    • Thanks, great stat! Tannheimer wont turn 20 until August 2025, so she has The whole Season To Join Kristiansen and Neuner. Too Bad that she was ill this week. I think Galmace Paulin and Tänglander could also do it. I think Grotian (born 2004) is The First female Biathlete born after 1999 To make a World Cup Podium. On The Mens side multiple Athletes (Perrot, Giacomel, Uldal) have already done it.   E. Öberg was 22 and a half when she First won.  Dahlmeier was 21 and a half.   Edit: Grotian only narrowly missed The Podium in The Individual at The 2024 World Championships when she was still  19 year old.
