Sprint Canoeing ICF Olympic Games Qualifier 2021

Recommended Posts

surprised that our guy Rezaei went toe to toe with European canoeists, finished 2nd (which is also the 2nd best result in all 3 heats and yes I know we can't compare time from different heats) and has to go through the semifinals

why the hell they sent someone else to the Asian Qualifiers ?! :facepalm:it's impossible to qualify here with all these European athletes but Asian QT was at least possible for him (that Chinese guy was also too good though)

Our largest canoeing delegation since Athens 2004.

Back when the sport was less globally spread and when qualification was so much easier. In Rio we had nobody (sprint or slalom).

From SVK view a really disappointing outcome, we will have the smallest delegation at the Olympics in history. only 5 quotas all M Kayak. trully embarassing, but well, what we can do ? at least all our athletes are really young and promising prospects, so let´s aim Paris 2024 rather.

In Tokyo again everything will turn around the K4 then

I'm truly disgusted!

Schera (men's K1 1000m) was really unlucky...leading the race for 990 meters in adverse conditions (the top lanes were clearly more under the influence of the strong wind than the lower ones) and being overtaken just on the finish line like that is really, really painful...

Fantini (women's 500m) was chanceless from the beginning, I'm even asking myself why wasting money to send not competitive people like our women to this kind of events...

Tacchini (men's C1 1000m)...well, he's one of the biggest waste of talent in the Italian sport in the last 10 years...even if I shouldn't be surprised by the fact that our "C" specialists got worse and worse since our federation hired for a second stint Oreste Perri as the head coach of our NT...he only "understand" and cares about Kayak... :wall:

    • India and Pakistan totally losing the plot in this sport, sad.

    • Interesting, for only 2 months i think i have seen some kind of coin from all of the big countries - Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, France, Portugal, Belgium, Finland, Ireland and yes the 2 euro from Croatia. But some of them were the smaller ones, 10, 5, 2 cents.    Expectedly there aren't any from the smaller countries so far. Nothing from the Baltics, Cyprus, Slovenia, Malta, Andorra etc. But also a bit surprising i haven't seen any from Greece yet.    Don't know from what part of Italy are you, but it's safe to say that when summer hits there will be a lot of Bulgarians visiting Rome, so i'm sure they'll bring some of our coins to spread around.
    • I choose to collect only coins in circulation (and I have also found coins in circulation that should not be on the market; you can find a bit of everything). From my experience, it takes 4-5 years for coins to reach southern Italy, so I have no idea how it will work in Bulgaria. Incidentally, I am curious to see when I will see my first Bulgarian coin. I have not yet seen a Croatian coin (introduced in 2023!).
    • Yes, i saw that there are a lot of commemorative coins. But to get some of those, i would need to buy them, as i don't know how much of them are in circulation. And the chances of such making it to Bulgaria are rather slim.    Still, if i find some sports ones on a good price, maybe i will order a few.

    • Have you already started looking for the hundreds of commemorative 2 euro coins? There are loads of them, including sports-themed ones.
    • Don't know if someone else is collecting Euro coins, but since we joined the zone it's been fun looking at what you can get.    It took only 2 months, but today i finally got my first Slovakian coin.  @hckošice
