Here is FEI's statement on the investigation of Villeneuve-Loubet and Damascus competitions.

"The updated Schedules for these three events were submitted to the FEI by the French National Federation and were mistakenly approved by the FEI."

Hilarious.

Mistakenly or not, they were approved. I'd give 99,9% of chance for a succesful :SRI appeal in CAS.

Yep, her and her horse should trot right on in there.

She really should win this case. IF just can't make a mistake and then blame the event organizers and punish the athletes. What the hell is that?

You also have to keep in mind that athletes are planning their season based on these schedules (approved schedules). Karlsson was for example entered for both Liverpool and Villeneuve-Loubet after Christmas. Eventually she chose V-L, most likely because their approved schedule was more beneficial.

This reminds me of IBSF (then Fibt) forgetting Australia in women's bobsleigh in 2010. They owned up to it and allowed the country that replaced them (Ireland) to also compete with IOC approval.

FEI corrected their mistake, and now :ITA:SVK are rightfully listed as reserves in dressage...

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.
