Going by the rankings one would expect Denmark, Austria and portugal to gain the 3 team spots at the upcoming European championships. Outside chance for Ireland and Belgium.

I don't expect Austrians to be the frontrunners. France most definitely has a chance though. Also Finland and Luxembourg in some outcomes.

In reality, only Denmark is really safe. Remaining teams are all very balanced, and everyone has a chance save Italy and Switzerland.

I wonder if they'll combine Groups D and E in eventing like they do for dressage and jumping. I imagine European nations would be against it as those slots would be filled by weaker Latin American nations.

Some great news for Thailand. Both Arinadtha Chavatanont (on Bolleybawn Prince) and Weerapat Pitakanonda (on Chateau de Versailles) reached minimum requirements at the short format in Strzegom.

 

Of course, they still need to meet the requirements at a long format competition, and also Thailand needs the 3rd rider to form a team. For the moment, this is mostly terrible bit of news for both India and Hong Kong.

Because if Thailand can't qualify a team they can take an individual quota meaning there will be one less spot for the region.

I thought he said Thai riders meeting qualification requirement was bad for India

Well one/two riders meeting the requirement is bad because they can take the individual quota. For India it would be best if Thailand either had 0 or 3+ riders meeting the requirements.
