Expand Qualification for Badminton is based on points earned between 29 Apr 2019 - 26 Apr 2020. The race to Tokyo rankings show this rankings, however except for World Championships there were many minor events where top players didn't participate and hence don't reflect who will actually qualify. The Notional Rankings are BWF World Rankings itself but with Olympic qualification restrictions applied like NOC with players of rank 1-16 can qualify 2 players only and the rest only 1 player for singles events BWF World Rankings are based on points earned in last 52 weeks and is updated every Tuesday Edited September 4, 2019 by Siddhartha Talukdar Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/84-india-national-thread/page/874/#findComment-238002 Share on other sites

Saina is in no position to qualify unless she has outstanding 2020 season. Expand I think that what you are saying may be an overstatement , the points currently in BWF race to olympic rating is all completely jumbled as some players have 4 tournaments they have played till now and some have upto 10 so making sense of the ranking is incorrect , Saina has played only 4 and her ranking is low ( and comparing her score with players who have players 7-8 does not make any sense ).......... If you see number 3 currently is Michelle Li and Tai is 9 ( Li gets that rank as she has played 8 tournaments and Tai only 4 ) so these ranks would dramatically change when all players cross 10 and are even ........ strength does not come from physical capacity but from an indomitable will. - Gandhi Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/84-india-national-thread/page/874/#findComment-238215 Share on other sites
Siddhartha Talukdar 234 Posted September 5, 2019 #8740 Share Posted September 5, 2019 Lets not look into those rankings now. It still doesn't reflect true form as hardly any top tournaments were played during the ranking period. The only major tournaments played were Sudirman Cup, Indonesia Open (Super 1000), Japan Open (Super 750). A couple of key tournaments like China Open (Super 1000), Korea Open (Super 500) and Denmark Open (Super 750) coming in the next two months and the weightage of points is more. We will get a fair picture by December end when the 2019 season ends Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/84-india-national-thread/page/874/#findComment-238226 Share on other sites
