A Win with Malaysia would most probably see us play against Aussies in the final...We need to play NZ cautiously and a draw would almost seal us the place in the final....Depends on the Canada vs Malaysia match...

Singapore Open badminton

Saina Nehwal pulls out of Singapore Open

She will be back at the Badminton Asia Championship to be held in Wuhan, China from April 26 to May 1.

I don't understand her pulling out of Singapore Open. It is a Superseries, and has one of the weakest draws as many top players are not playing it. Ratanon, Tai, Nozomi, Carolina are smart in playing it. Saina is in the draw for Bonny masters in China and for Dong Feng Asian Badminton  Championships. Saina should get a grip on reality and up her ranking by exploiting weaker draws in tournaments.

possibly she is nursing an injury and does not want to over strain it ...........

Yes I think Sharath Kamal will qualify through that South Asian Countries quota and Soumyajit Ghosh and others will fight for the other quota in the 2nd round.

Similar cases for Womens Group also.

If soumyajit or any of the others qualify ... sharath is almost certain to get in through the world ranking ...he is effectively 39 currently  .....................  so it may be better if one of the others qualify but then he cannot pull out as there is a slight chance that he may not get in through  the world ranking ..................

Yes you are absolutely correct. It is better if someone other than Sharath can  get through by that free quota.

Looks like Sharath is trying for the ITTF ranking quota, India looking to have 2 players in the Mens section.

Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
