Guys it would be nice if on a weekly basis Maybe on Sunday ...one of the group members could update all the key Olympic events of the week for India At least  ( as the chase is hotting up for quotas ) .........:( am missing totally olympics list .......

I am trying to get a start on this - Key events of the next two weeks ( 10-24 th April )  for Indian Olympic Interest

This week

Badminton - Singapore Open ( starts 12th April )  - Maybe the last chance for the Indian men to get a second qualifier ....... Kashyap , Ajay and Prannoy still have a slim chance , Saina to get back into peak form and increase her ranking for seeding at the olympics and try to be in the top 4 ........ Sindhu again to push to be in the top 8,

Table tennis ( thanks tirtha )  - Asian qualification - 13th April -Sure fire 1man , 1 women ,  In fact if sharath loses , he may get an entry through the ranking process

Shooting - ISSF World cup at Rio ( starts 13th April )  - A chance to check Rio conditions for Indias Rio Squad

Gymnastics - The all important Gymanstic test event at Rio - ( Starts  April 16th ) - DIpa is There -  .....................enuff said

Next week

In Rowing, a NOC can qualify only crew per gender at continental qualifiers, so no chance for lightweight double sculls men and hopefully decent chance for a spot in women's section

Thanks ...did not know about this rule ......

but I have a feeling both men events  may qualify....................... but due to the rule the NOC may have to take a call on whom they will confirm ... probably single sculls ...... and due to the rule the chances of women single sculls improves ...........

Are we participating in that event. Heard last time that there was scuffle with the services team and none from them would represent the country. So no idea of the present status....

ITTF has it mandatory from this year for all players to take part in qualification events, Sharath Kamal cannot take any chances and wait for the ITTF's announcement which will come after the world rankings in May.

As per norms, two men and two women per country can make the cut.

All eight will first compete in Stage 1 of the event (South Asian region qualification). However, it has been learnt that Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and Maldives have decided to forego the event, leaving the Indians to compete against each other. The competition will be tougher in Stage 2, where India vie for two more spots.

    • Today is a day without Italians in the leads positions. I`m worried that they are not trying to revive this our sprint. There is only one Bosa and he is old. Pergher is young but she is also only one. It is a pity. After the Olympics they will probably 100% give up on the entire sprint. Our medal bag in Cortina will depend 90% on Ghiotto, just like it did on Fabris in Turin 2006. If Ghiotto will be in goodshape, he can even win 2 individual golds + a team medal. If not, it will be a flop. Apart from him, only Lollobrigida can compete in the mass start and possibly Giovannini in the men's mass start.
