A player's badminton ranking is obtained by adding the 10 best results of the player in the past 12 months. If, you take part in a competition and earn less points than your worst result already being counted, you don't earn any more points.

Lets take Lakshya Sen as an example. Lakshya Sen had 39447 ranking points in Week 18 (28 April 2020). His worst record in the ranking was 1670 points from New Zealand Open. He earned 1670 points in Swiss Open. So, no improvement in ranking points.

Similarly, Prannoy's worst performance is 2750 in Syed Modi, so 1670 points in Swiss Open didn't improve his ranking as well.

But, Srikanth's worst performance was 2660 in French Open, and he earned 4900 points in Swiss Open, hence his ranking points improved by 2240 points.

Thanks for the info. I thought points were cumulative. Then can we see which 10 results are accounting for the points. Does Kidambi, Saina, Ashwini-Sikki pair, Satwik-Ashwini have realistic chances of qualifying.

Satwik-Ashwini have just played 10 tournaments so if they have decent results they can climb the rankings

You can check the tournaments data easily on https://bwf.tournamentsoftware.com/ Go to the player's profile, ranking tab. In that tab click on the rank of the category whose detail you need and you will get the full breakdown (for example click on 27 to get detail of Satwik-Ashwini ranking).

Guys, have u noticed Harmilan Bains won 1500m today at 4 min 8 secs I guess after quite a few years an Indian athlete has timed below 4 min 10 sec, Chitra finished 2nd  11s later, so if she gets good competition she will surely break NR, may even qualify for Tokyo. She is from a well to do family hopefully will continue for a few years not like many of our other female athletes of the past from humble backgrounds, whose ambition seems to be getting a government job and then settling down with family and kids
