Nordic Combined at the Nordic Skiing World Championships 2021

Recommended Posts

Honestly I'm really disappointed by the Italians. Lost seconds in the cross-country from the France is just out of my mind. A disaster.

Will Germany get one gold medal in Oberstdorf? I don't think so.

Very possible in Nordic combined large hill or men’s ski jumping large hill. Would have been easy to win 3 golds in Nordic combined, but pretty much all the German guys are out of shape. Riessle almost getting lapped by Grabaak and Frenzel barely making up any time compared to Ofterbro is a shocking proof. In cross country nothing was expected and the same is true for women’s ski jumping. I would be happy with those results if it would lead to Germany giving up snow-related sports, but sadly that won’t happen.

This clearly shouldn’t be an Olympic event, not remotely competitive enough.

Very good jump from 21 year old Gašper Brecl, but to be honest, if he can stay in top 20, will be very good, he is not in cross country shape.

Meanwhile, it is going to be another boring race for the medals, maybe Riiber and Watabe could produce a thrilling fight for gold, at least bronze will go to Lamparter, so the medals are already taken, we wait only for order of top 3 athletes.

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)
