If my country was bombed to pieces (hey Germany :p) I'd feel like 'never forget' as well. Wars should not be forgotten, especially since quite often both sides commit quite some atrocities. Didn't Serbia themselves arrest and deliver war criminals like Karadzic and Mladic who are, luckily for the world, safely behind bars for the rest of their lives?

Right, but there is something to be said about the ugliness of conflict for all involved. Of course I wasn’t alive when all of this went down (and I believe the right outcomes were reached). You have to remember that history two sides and that it’s better to try to make peace than make more ethic and political divides.

I just look at the results for the provincial elections in Netherlands and saw this new party FvD, Forum for Democracy, became the biggest party overall.

Is this Forum for Democracy the new PVV? Another question, why are they so big in Noord-and Zuid-Hollland?

 

I can also see that FvD is the biggest party in an opinion poll from yesterday.

They are sort of like a more intelligent version of the PVV, focused a bit more wide instead of almost only (at least publicly) on the immigration problems like the PVV. They'll have some problems though, they won more seats than they have people to fill them :p

 

Why especially those two provinces, no idea. Probably because they're good in cities, but cities are generally more left (especially Amsterdam is as left as PVV is right), so that's odd. They were even the 3rd biggest in my town, only slightly behind the ever dominating SGP (super strict Christians who often don't for politics but just for religion) and ChristenUnie (more relaxed Christians).

 FvD's rise is probably just another example that many Dutch voters are tired of the current political establisment in the Netherlands and want something new.  Just like many other European countries.

Even if, in my opinion, it’s a rise in the wrong direction. What’s interesting is the similarities between are current time period and WW2

      Yeah, Harris might not be great, it is still definitely better than having an outright psychopath as president, again. At the very least it should be someone who is at least capable and willing to, you know, communicate like an adult. Trump very clearly can not do that, although one would assume his childish yelling and overall immensely bizarre way of speaking (from his intonation to his 'we did great, everyone thought it was great, they couldnt believe how great I was!') must appeal to a certain kind of person, I suppose.

      The relation of Trump with Russia and, more specific, with Putin is probably the most controversial (being generous) thing of the presidence of Trump, i dont believe the same but is clearly that China help democrats in that election, both are playing their games.   In Argentina the society is clearly divided, the people who are in the left side of the politics, peronist and kirchnerism are very against the goverment, propably the only genuine "rigth-wing" goverment since the recovery of the democracy in 1983. For me and the most part who are in the rigth wing: libertarians, nacionalist and conservatives, is probably the best goverment we see to this days, he made in his first year with a very few legislators in the congress some big and good changes:   1) In the economical: the inflation is only 3% per month since a more of 15% in the last months of the last year, Argentina has now fiscal, financial and comercial surplus-   2) Our country didnt have fighter planes and the goverment buy 24  American F16  -   3) He changes the electoral sistem for a "single ballot" sistem, we have an obsolete electoral sistem that doesnt change from the 19 century and specially, the peronist use for make fraud.   4) In my personal case, he really update the tax sistem for small/medium profesionals and traders.......and that save us to pay the 50% of our earnings to the state.   With a big expectations in the goverment, its better than i thinked before.

      It could be better, or it could be much worse, for example, if the accusations that he has been accepting large amounts of money from Russia since 2017 are confirmed. Now let Harris win, which will end Trump's political career and I hope that in 4 years the Republicans will put up someone more predictable.     btw, how is this controversial president of Argentina doing?

      More predictable is not always better, for me the goverment of Biden was one of the worst of the History of USA and i cant imagine what can happen with even a worse version like Harris is.   I hope, for the contrary, Trump be elected and "may be" the things changes for the better in the world.
