:BUL Bulgarian Olympic History :BUL

"The Olympic team shall include only fit men, not older than 30, men, well developed and educated'. This is how the national enlightenment and education minister Konstantin Velichkov determines the criteria for the Bulgarian delegation at the first modern Olympics in Athens 1896. The Swiss born physical education teacher takes part in three individual apparatus in gymnastics under the name Shampoff. He takes the  elite fifth place on vault and thus starts the Bulgarian Olympic participation.

The first memorable national participation at Olympic Games is in 1924 in Paris. The invitation to Bulgarian athletes came personally from Pierre de Coubertin. Four athletes, seven cyclists, two equestrian riders and the national football team travel to Paris. General Stoychev places 11th in equestrian out of 99 participants.

Summer 2021:

Olympic games Tokyo 2020 - Bulgaria won 3 medals from the games by now. One silver - Antoaneta Boneva, shooting by pistol (10 metres woman), Taybe Usein (bronze medal) - wrestling, Stoyka Krusteva is also medalist from this forum. Tomorrow she will even fight  for the gold! Success!

It is not a secret that the girls from our Rhytmic gymnastics team are followed all over the world and they are pretenders to the top results. I do not want to comment much more. Good luck .....

    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

    • impossible, there are not enough venues in both towns and I mean, Milan doesn't have an Olympic Stadium, a decent Tennis Complex and a big Swimming Complex (not to mention the sea) Rome, on the other hand, doesn't have a Rowing/Canoeing Basin nor arenas and stadiums for the team sports beyond football and rugby there's no chance that all those venues would be built from scratch, meanwhile if we use both cities we already have almost everything we need, especially the most expensive and controversial sites
