I am really getting embarrased by Danish football. Some of you surely remember that The Danish Football Association and the women's national team couldn't make a new deal for the National team about a year ago meaning that the World Cup qualifier against Sweden was cancelled.

Now it's the men's team who doesn't seem to be able to make a deal with the federation.

The embarassing thing is that both sides seem to keep on changing their minds. An example is that yesterday the federation said that they would be ready to temporarily keep the old deal to have the best team for next week's matches. Today the players said that they would be ready to go with the old deal for another month to get some more time for making a deal and playing the matches. What does the federation say to that? NO!

The matches are expected to be played, but most likely with some secondary players.

Any update ? Will the Danes arrive to Trnava ?

They have promised that we will have a team there, but it seems most likely that it will consist of mainly 2nd and 3rd tier players.

What deal? :d I don't get why a National Team has to bargain with the football federation :mumble: Doesn't the federation like "own" every national teams of the said country?

Yes, but unlike clubs they don't "own" the players. If they think that the conditions to play are bad, they can refuse call ups.

Yes, but how many players can refuse. After a certain point there will be players that will gladly play and get exposure for themselves.

Yes, but unless you have insane depth in your football system those players will be worse and the national team performance will suffer. And I suppose that no federation wants that because they lose sponsors, price money from tournaments, etc

When it's about NTs  the players have all the bargaining power. In a club they can just fire you and buy another player of the same level.

It's very much about commercial interests where the National federation want to be able to use the individual player more, which can be problematic due to their club or personal sponsors.

According to the Federation The Union of players gave some new demands shortly before deadlines that they simply couldn't follow, including that the Federation would officially be the employers of the players (which would put extra expences onto the Federation)

The thing is that in Denmark there's a pretty strong labour union making the agreements with the federation. Now that they haven't managed to come to an agreement, the union is asking for solidarity from all players, which would most likely mean that players would have to leave the union if they decide to play, which would not be a popular choice. It would seem like more or less nobody from the Superliga (the top tier league) wants to play meaning that they're now asking the next two tiers.

But it's all pretty complicated. Both sides seem to be throwing mud at eachother making me and quite a lot of other fans feel like it's partially a personal thing between the top people of the federation and the top people of the Union. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing some people leaving the negotiations on both sides (the CEO of the Union has been so for more than all my life!)

The players have made a last, desperate attempt to make a temporary deal that will let them play.

Meanwhile it has been announced that a squad has been formed. There are different rumours about who the players are, even that it will mainly consist of players from our national futsal team

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
    • Today : Jordan 3-0 Egypt  This team will surprise us
    • option no.2 for sure, as it's been all this shitstorm organized by the nhl owners through their embedded reporters   ps not that the north american audience looks really aware of the hockey rules and habits outside the nhl (and around their game, too, since they look not to know that just a couple of weeks ago they played 2 nhl matches on an ice sheet of the exact same size of Milan's olympic arena)
    • Are we supposed to take Daly's word for it or is this just public posturing to try and shame the Milan organizers (which they certainly deserve for all the delays) in order to threaten NHL participation?
    • Well that was a disappointing opening ceremony. Not to mention the boss is late too...   Anyway this is another victim of bureaucracy, the initial creative director quit in October and we get this kind of show.   Original plan: https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17EVayTpig/
