Big mistake for Italy. But they are not going to pay for it again. :p

And of course they don't. That's enough of curling for me, this is just getting depressing...

really? robberies football/basketball-alike also in Curling??? c'mon, man!!!:wall:

however, how stupid are those Italian girls? do they really have to think about strategy in a situation like this? :yikes:

it's so easy...you have the hammer...just make the 9th end void and keep the hammer for the 10th...then you just have to play for the final draw...

so...just sweep all those stones away until the last one...:wall:

I joined back after seeing Denmark came back to 3:3...

Geez, that was absolutely amazing final shot for Dupont.

And the reaction from the Danish coach.

just a bunch of idiots! Gaspari & co. are just a bunch of idiots...

they didn't get a single decision right in the last 3+1 ends and, moreover, they also made a lot of throwing mistakes...frankly, I don't know how such a team even got to this point...

they did clearly show that they don't belong to this level of play and didn't deserve to win...

but, despite that, I still have to understand what happened in the last shot of the 8th end (or, better, why Denmark got the benefit of the call after that very long dispute)...that was definitely the turning point of the entire match...

p.s. the last shot by Dupont wasn't that "amazing"...it was just a lucky ending for a missed shot (Danish "3rd" placing before the shot and their coach's facial expression after it says it all)...;)

Italians touched their stone with a broom. Simple as that. Doesn't matter when they touched it, as long as it was after the first hog line. Camera shows it and Italians admitted it themselves.

How is lucky not amazing? Though, that really was a perfect precision.

if that's the only point, it's all clear and simple...so, still I don't understand all the rest of the following dispute, though...:mumble:

however, Italy still had the game in their hands even after that silly and unforgivable mistake...and they did throw the Olympic qualification away also in the 9th and once again in the 10th...

I'm so angry about their decision-making...:wall:

    • Does the CAS have the authority to address from someone who believes the judges made a mistake in a given discipline? Pizzolato's last attempt at Paris 2024, which earned him the bronze medal, was controversial, but what does the CAS have to do with it? Even if the judges made a mistake then, the result won't change and this isn't the only case where someone feels wronged with this in world of sports. Unless, of course, they have some evidence of corruption or something like that
    • If Pizzolato will to return, would it be to the 86 kg category, or the 94 kg category, like Nasar? In 2024, they were both in the 89 kg category, which will no longer be at the Olympics, but in 2021 in Tokyo, Pizzolato won a medal in the 81 kg category.   Of course, it's unclear what's going on with the rape accusations- personally, unfortunately, I don't think he was ever a sweet angel- he was accused of other immoral things also 10 years ago, but gang rape? I find that hard to believe... Besides, Moldova has appealed about his bronze medal from Paris 2024 to the CAS- the verdict was supposed to be in February. Do you know anything about this? Did they have any grounds for this lawsuit at all?
    • Ukraine won 6 gold medals out of 10 in the women's competotion  + 1 silver and 1 bronze. Where do they get these girls from? It's always been a strong country, but they have never dominated like this. I wonder if their training methods would work in another country and if their coaches have any offerts to job from other countries? However, there is a significant decline in women's judo in Ukraine, so maybe they have directed all their resources and money towards wrestling?   In fact, Ukraine dominates Europe as much as Japan does the world- they have the best school in women's wrestling. In 2024, Ukraine only won 1 silver medal at the Paris Olympics? So even domination in Europe doesn't guarantee even 1 gold medal at the Olympics. Although, of course, if Italy for example, can't even win 1 bronze medal at the European Championships, then there's no point in even going to the World Championships...
    • Sablikova started on the road cycling and just almost qualified for Rio 2016. Maybe Lollobrigida would like to join the Italian track team? She has the good character and 2 medals at the Olympics, one in winter and one in summer, would be a legendary achievement, not only in Italy.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martina_Sáblíková
    • One Wiebes is worth more than the all Italian team with Balsamo/Fidanza, etc., that much clear. Even if the Netherlands loses its dominance in the men's sprint, Wiebes will win 2-3 gold medals in other events. Just relax, man.
    • I'm most worried about our women's team in the pursuit – we have a reserve squad, but not advancing to the top 8 is a shame. We recently competed with out 1 team and had not good in 1 round. It doesn't look good. And the Netherlands are already taking Wiebes to the track team and will soon dominate the Madison/Omnium as well. Balsamo and Paternoster haven't made any progress for years and the our women's team at the Olympics has little chance to win a medal. Italy might even win World Championship/European Championship gold in the years after the Olympics, etc., but when the real fight comes, the UK or the USA will always beat us
    • Track cycling is one of the few sports where there is no host nation quota, so  will need to work hard to achieve our quotas.  It's not our best sport, but was happy to see Top 10 results in the Elimination Race for Grant Koontz and Emma Jimenez Palos (who is just 18!).
    • Yes, I saw the same thing you did @clemsonbeav (on both accounts) but I agree it looks pretty stock.
