Ummm... So the appeal got dismissed after all. :zip:

Curious if they will be taking it now to the CAS, as advertised earlier, as they are now again at a complete loss...

Meh. I hope all this mess doesn't stop the little momentum Irish dressage got on the wings of the latest pre-COVID results.

Heike Holstein better deliver those sweet 8.5s for the extended trot next month. :old:

:JPN Japan- Team eventing

Yoshiaki Oiwa (Tullyoran Cruise)

Toshiyuki Tanaka (Talma d'Allou)

Kazuma Tomoto (Vinci de la Vigne)

Reserve: Ryuzo Kitajima (Feroza Nieuwmoed)

I can see this team getting on the podium. Oiwa is looking great for the jumping phases, but in all likelihood, he will be waaaaaay down after dressage. Outside of Top 50, possibly, so only a dark-horse chance for some individual medal.

:AUS Australia - Team jumping

Jamie Kermond (Yandoo Oaks Constellation)

Katie Laurie (Casebrooke Lomond)

Edwina Tops-Alexander (Identity Vitseroel)

Reserve: Rowan Willis (Blue Movie)

Katie Laurie 'deflected' from New Zealand. :p

:BLR Belarus - Individual eventing

Aliaksandr Faminou (Martinie)

Alexander Zelenko (Carlo Grande Jr)

Athletes have the same name, but different (latinized) spelling? :mumble:

Well, this is pretty ironic. :ISR Daniel Bluman will not be going to Tokyo because his horse was mistakenly listed as an American on the transfer deadline. :d

https://www.worldofshowjumping.com/en/News/No-Olympic-Games-for-Israel-s-Daniel-Bluman.html

Israeli team will be pretty weak now. Probably going for the 19th-20th place with China.

Good on FEI to deny his appeal though. Anything else would have been a travesty considering Italy and Slovakia had to pay for the same error.

@hckošice "The FEI also submitted exhibits of email exchanges indicating that they had always refused similar requests as that of Bluman." Yeah.... I can imagine Slovak federation was one example.

@dcrohow many riders with MER thry have?

6 athletes / 7 horses are listed on the nominated entries. But without the star power they had in 2018/19.

British eventing team named. Oh boy. What a mess.

World Champion Ros Canter is not going. Not even as a reserve. Laura Collett got selected despite her spotty XC record (famous drive-by in Aachen, followed by taking a dive at the European Championships). Sure, she would make any other team, but this is still controversial.

And as expected, Kitty King stayed far away from Tokyo. Despite placing 2nd at the last selection-observation event. Not surprised. She has by far the smallest fandom / media frenzy of the lot.

And yet somehow they have managed to select the world no.1 Oliver Townend and the world no.5 Tom McEwen, while the world no.3 Piggy March is the travelling reserve.

World rankings are grouped by riders so they are pretty useless tbh (for the championships selection). Having multiple horses at higher levels helps your rank tremendeously.

Not to forget that Ros Canter dropped in rankings after taking a baby leave in 2019 (which is literally the only thing someone could have used against her, since her competition record aboard Allstar B has been spotless since winning the double world title...). Here we enter a pretty bleak territory.

This selection was always going to stir controversies, since there were too many options to choose from, so yeah... But still I can't fathom the fact that a new and relatively inexperienced combination (even if hyped) of Piggy March & Brookfield Inocent got ahead of Canter and indeed King.

    • When it comes to power, confidence and match-winning ability, women's cricket has produced some truly fearless batsmen over the years. These players didn't just score runs - they changed games, calmed crowds and intimidated bowlers. Based on influence, consistency and ability to dominate attacks, here is my 2026 Forum list of the top 7 most dangerous women batsmen in cricket history.   At the top, Meg Lanning stands out for her quiet aggression and leadership. She could control an innings and then suddenly explode. Behind her is Harmanpreet Kaur, known for her raw power and clutch performances, especially in big tournaments.   Ellyse Perry deserves a special mention. Her technique, fitness and ability to increase pace make her lethal in all formats. Smriti Mandhana brings purpose with grandeur - once she gets going, bowlers struggle to find answers.   From a bygone era, Mithali Raj may not have looked aggressive, but her mental strength and ability to bat for long periods make her extremely dangerous. Suzy Bats has become a nightmare for bowlers in ODIs and T20s, as she mixes timing and smart shot selection. The list also includes Deandra Dottin, whose power-hitting can change a match in just a few overs.   What connects all these stars is their fearless mentality. Each has earned the tag of Dangerous Women's Batsman by performing consistently under pressure and against the best bowlers in the world. For fans who love in-depth cricket discussions, statistics and trending topics, Cricbites is becoming a popular platform to explore women's cricket in a fresh and engaging way.

    • Weightlifting We now have six events per gender with a total of 10 athletes per event.   The Olympic Qualification Rankings will be based on the sum of the total results of five events (three from period 1 and two from period 2). The top 8 will qualify.   The 9th spot will also be based on the OQR, but it will go to the highest ranked athlete from an unrepresented continent.   The 10th spot will be split between the host and universality (3 each per gender). Should the United States qualify normally then their host quota will be reduced, first going to an athlete from an unrepresented continent then to the overall highest ranked athlete.   Additionally, a "Best Lifter" will be awarded which would give the nation the chance to qualify 4 athletes rather than the max of 3.
