First time since 1991 (!) that there's no Jesus Angel Garcia in the 50k

Did he retire?

No.

He didn't compete at National Championships because he expected his performance in 2016 to be enough to be added to the team, but 3 men match the qualification criteria and he was left out.

Also, any news in the women's 50km race walk entrys?

Inês Henriques and Erin Talcott both confirmed they would compete, but what about the other three girls that matched criteria?

Has Henriques definitely been confirmed as an entrant?

Her qualifying time was set in a race that wasn't approved as a qualifying competition so the IAAF would have to change the rules to get her in.

Well, her time there was ratified as a World record. Makes no sense that it doesn't count for qualification. :dunno:

I'm sure they will change the rules to allow her to compete.

And maybe the Brazilian will also be allowed to race (as the best South American) - making a maximum of 6

According to portuguese press, Inès is compiting in 50km:

Well I hope the 2 chinese athletes and the brazilian compete. In my opinion IAAF should open their hand a little bit and invite up to 10 athletes, at least for having an accepting number...

:CAN Canada received additional invitations:

Annie Leblanc (800m), Maria Bernard (3000m steeplechase), Angela Whyte (100m hurdles), Alyx Treasure (high jump), Taryn Suttie (shot put), Kelsie Ahbe (pole vault), Lindsey Butterworth (800m), and Leya Buchanan (100m) and Alycia Butterworth (3000m steeplechase). Brendon Rodney will now also participate in the men’s 100m.

Or, like Evan Dunfee suggested, tell all 20km competitors they can start in the 50 if they want. It's not perfect, but surely there are several who'd like to give it a try.

    • I have reported this again and they said it should be fixed now, please let me know if you are still facing issues.
    • more countries added to the list of US ban    you can't travel to USA if you are from : burkina faso , niger , Laos , South sudan , mali , sierra leon ...
    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
